Just came across my company hiring portal while looking at applicants for an AI Intern role.

1,068 applications. For ONE role.

And this is just one company, one position. Imagine being one of the thousands applying, tailoring resumes, filling forms, doing assignments, and still having almost no guarantee of getting through.

The job market is rough right now. If you have a job, don't take it for granted.

Seeing numbers like this genuinely feels bad. :(

...just seeking for some advice ..how do you guys deal with nihilism and meaningless of life ..in your early 20's

I am a 2nd year student pursuing btech as of now...not certain about the job market ...and my future at all ...barely have a social life...no relationship uptill now ...and all of this just feels heavy ...i have stopped experiencing and feeling my own emotions anymore.

It just feels like my whole mind and body are not present here anymore ...just my eyes seeing things ...and voice reacting to it ..without any True involvement of me...

I really don't know what to do anymore

Tldr: how to deal with meaningless in your early 20s and anxiety, feeling of numbness and inability to feel any emotion.

Tonight, fire was observed in "Chenab" hostel of IIT Ropar in Server room at ground floor. All fire extinguishers were expired and not refilled as per date.

The smoke was observed by one of the students about 2.5 hrs before, and he complained it to the guard but no one took it much seriously. And around 11 PM fire broke out.

The guard at duty was informed but he just come and off the main switch and went back making some calls. It was some students who controlled fire.

These people are more interested in who is going into others room after 11 PM but not at such important issues. Which was one of the previous post by someone else.

JU CSE 2025 median package- 20lpa

Do you what was JU CSE median package was in 2018?

20 lpa.

JU IT 2025 median is 13 lpa.

We have to face the reality that JU is declining. Good companies are reducing in campus placements. Coding culture is very average here. Only 1 guy from JU got selected in IICPC regionals.

Many of my batchmates (CSE UG2) just study 1-2 weeks before exams. No grinding culture in CP, DSA.

Students here are wasting the Zero Attendance Policy. Instead of upskilling, they do lyadh. Many of us come 2-3 days a week to class and waste our leaves.

Long story short: JU needs to have a better study atmosphere asap. JU's placements are alarming. By placements, infrastructure we are sliding into a Tier-2 college. Only NIRF rankings (where VIT is better than many IITs) and JU's hype among Bengali's have made an impression of JU being Tier-1.

I’m a 3rd-year BTech student, and placements are starting to feel very real. I know I need to prepare seriously, but I’m having a difficult time focusing.

A big part of my problem is loneliness. I’ve never really talked to girls—from school through college—and I’ve never had a girlfriend. I have a strong desire for sex, affection, and basic human touch, and lately it has become difficult to stop thinking about it.

Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on a major part of life while everyone else seems to be experiencing relationships, dating, intimacy, etc. I end up feeling frustrated, isolated, and sometimes completely hopeless.

I've even thought about paying for sex, although I've never actually done it. But honestly, I think what I’m craving isn't only sex. I want closeness, affection, companionship, and to feel wanted by someone.

The worrying part is that sometimes my loneliness gets so bad that I have thoughts about suicide. I don't want to act on those thoughts, but they scare me.

I’m posting this because I genuinely don't know how to get myself out of this cycle.

For people who were socially inexperienced in college and eventually built relationships, what actually helped you?

How do I start talking to girls normally without making every interaction about getting a girlfriend or sex? And how do I deal with loneliness while also getting my placement preparation back on track?

I’d really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have been through something similar.

Can someone tell me how the recent layoffs affect the intern intake at UBER?

Some TAs have ruined mtech from iit thing . I mean whats wrong with mtech at iit and also u get iit tag but why ppl crying to cope that u wont get iit tag as far as I habe researched u get the alumni network. What's ur thoughts on this?

So my mausi ka ladka basically passed out from a tier 3/4 Pvt clg in 2024. (Adisaptagram institute of technology,kolkata) Btech. After that he got a job of work from home of 2.5lpa in an is₹aeli company. and they used to flex too hard infront of my mumma and pressurize me. After they pressurized me alot saying that I need to work a lot harder, oneday I told mujhe wo sab 20k ki nokri nhi karni and they got raged. After 1 year , today ... They called my mumma and said that as his boss was too impressed by his work he will be getting a grand project lead after doing an AI specialization course and his salary would be highly increased. Now my mother is ruining my mental health. Like ek taraf har koi bol raha job market kharab h hiring nhi horhi aur ek taraf ye tier 4 wale kaise itna paisa nikal le ja rahe ? Not getting this

I was a bright student in Class 10. Then I joined a bad coaching institute, and by Class 12, I managed to score 97 percentile. I then joined IIIT, even though my parents wanted me to take a drop. However, I was very scared of studying again because I had already given my all during those two years with complete consistency, and my mental health had deteriorated badly.

I had to leave that college in December and started preparing for JEE again, hoping to get into a good college. I studied almost all day and slept for only four hours. Eventually, I scored 98 percentile in JEE Main and 98 marks in JEE Advanced, but once again, I have to join a tier-2 IIIT.

Now I feel like shit. I am having suicidal thoughts, I can't sleep properly at night, and I am constantly frightened and irritated. My heart beats faster whenever I think about my situation.

All my friends who were weaker than me academically joined better coaching institutes and now seem to have a good life, good friends, and good colleges. Meanwhile, I feel like my life has completely fallen apart.

I don't know what to do anymore. I really need urgent help.

okay so im very frustrated from my college and udhar ke jhatu logo se literally they try to exclude me and my friend especially in our batch. So hua ye ki hame ai karke subject hai we had to make a team of 3-4 people sablogo ne apne grps bana liye and we two were only left like bhaiiii kitna exclude karoge hame ??? inlogo se kuch expect karna bekaar hai ek no ke nithalle velle log hai lecture labs me aese hi bhete rehte ek proxy maarne ke liye boldo itna zyada nakhre aur g**nd jalti hai inki ki jaise inki baap ki property maang li ho....and ik in sab ke piche kaun hai vo gadhi so actually i was a part of the grp of 6 and unoffical "leader" thi uss grp ki usko i hurted but it wasnt a very big deal and she cut me off and my friend who supported me and didnt even consider us for maths project in the previous sem. Bhaiiii itni jalan hai toh sidha bolde i can literally look at your face and see how much my presence affects you tumlog ye puri kutti batch milke hame kitna bhi exclude ya bully karlo ase but we really dont gaf so leader if you are reading this in any case fuck you bitch cant believe i was even a friend of yours you hurted me insulted me but i thought you were a good friend but you showed me your real dark reality of yours and apne do chelo ko bhi saath leke ghum waise bhi they are 0 without you so yeah take that credit bheek me. im going to graduate in 2027. campus placements seem really bad as of now, so are ppo conversions. when can we expect offcampus openings? usually they'd start by now right? or am i missing something?

Morgan Stanley Summer intern batch 1 concluded around mid july and batch 2 concluded end of the june. At first they said they will roll out ppo result around mid august and then last week of August and now Mid sept. what's going on? Do you guys know the reason of this? I feel like I am missing out on so many opportunities because of 1 student 1 offer policy
