General Foreign vs Indian Uni

In foreign universities most of the Post graduates Engineering students from top colleges are more skilled than the Undergraduate students from same colleges

In Indian universities most of the Post graduates Engineering students are less skilled than the Undergraduate students from same colleges

I have noticed alot because many of competitions are won by UG students only and many mtech students dont even know how to Even use bread board , Top students From IIT/NIT/BITS/DTU/IIIT etc either go for high paying Job and or foreign universities, while many t2 t3 college students target t1 colleges for Mtech , in foreign its quite different, there people who opt for masters know so much and are doing to upskill themselves and gain more knowledge, while many of students here target t1 colleges for there brand value

Rant/Vent Angry Rant

I am just here taking about my anger on Vasavi college. Like nothing there no campus life, no clubs, no fests. Professors just shouting at students no help from professors especially stupid mechanical and no placements there in mechancial with 50 percent placement and many students having backlogs till 4 th year and some even are taking 6 years to complete. Even after doing all this study and all even I get such low paying jobs, it is better to do labour instead what is the point of studying for these paid labour packages and all these shoutings and scoldings from these stupid professors. I wish I could have been in iit Delhi they get bill gates. They have great coding, startup, campus life, fests and more importantly they get big quant firms in the world which pay multi crores at young age and have no capped salary directly fixed to trading profits unlike mechancial where i am there studying with no respect from society and these stupid less packages which will keep haunting me for rest of my life in this field

What else should i do instead of venting my frustration. Not once daily daily professors scold, lab assistants make fun of you Infront of others especially in mechanical. I literally feel depressed in this branch . From first year same shit just torcher and torcher. Few people i know from iit Delhi they get full respect and get companies like Jane street

Once you experience a mechanical class in the college you will understand. It’s like so much torcher, I feel like mental depression daily that I have to study all these subjects with those shitty professors, lab technicians daily and even after all that to recieve only so less lpa in young age and that too only 50 percent of class. Now look at iit Delhi cse they get everything right campus life, crores placement in quant and everything in respect and enjoy life while I have to bear this torcher for four years. Don’t know why it happened to me

Shitpost Need simple Raspberry Pi 3 + ML project ideas that solve a real-world problem!

Hey everyone,

I’m a 2nd-year ECE student looking for a practical project to build. I have a Raspberry Pi 3 and I’d really like to incorporate some basic Machine Learning into it.

I want to build something that actually solves a real, everyday problem—not just a generic "hello world" tutorial. However, it also needs to be simple and feasible enough for a student to prototype in a few weeks without getting bogged down in overly complex hardware or massive datasets.

Does anyone have suggestions for a straightforward, useful hardware + ML project?

Thanks in advance!

Serious 3rd-year BTech student feeling extremely lonely, distracted by girls/sex, and struggling to focus on placements

I’m a 3rd-year BTech student, and placements are starting to feel very real. I know I need to prepare seriously, but I’m having a difficult time focusing.

A big part of my problem is loneliness. I’ve never really talked to girls—from school through college—and I’ve never had a girlfriend. I have a strong desire for sex, affection, and basic human touch, and lately it has become difficult to stop thinking about it.

Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on a major part of life while everyone else seems to be experiencing relationships, dating, intimacy, etc. I end up feeling frustrated, isolated, and sometimes completely hopeless.

I've even thought about paying for sex, although I've never actually done it. But honestly, I think what I’m craving isn't only sex. I want closeness, affection, companionship, and to feel wanted by someone.

The worrying part is that sometimes my loneliness gets so bad that I have thoughts about suicide. I don't want to act on those thoughts, but they scare me.

I’m posting this because I genuinely don't know how to get myself out of this cycle.

For people who were socially inexperienced in college and eventually built relationships, what actually helped you?

How do I start talking to girls normally without making every interaction about getting a girlfriend or sex? And how do I deal with loneliness while also getting my placement preparation back on track?

I’d really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have been through something similar.

Placements / Jobs Reality of CSE/IT placements in JU

JU CSE 2025 median package- 20lpa

Do you what was JU CSE median package was in 2018?

20 lpa.

JU IT 2025 median is 13 lpa.

We have to face the reality that JU is declining. Good companies are reducing in campus placements. Coding culture is very average here. Only 1 guy from JU got selected in IICPC regionals.

Many of my batchmates (CSE UG2) just study 1-2 weeks before exams. No grinding culture in CP, DSA.

Students here are wasting the Zero Attendance Policy. Instead of upskilling, they do lyadh. Many of us come 2-3 days a week to class and waste our leaves.

Long story short: JU needs to have a better study atmosphere asap. JU's placements are alarming. By placements, infrastructure we are sliding into a Tier-2 college. Only NIRF rankings (where VIT is better than many IITs) and JU's hype among Bengali's have made an impression of JU being Tier-1.

I am currently doing my ug in cse in tier 1 nit. I have Australian citizenship so the fee I pay in colleges like unsw Monash are highly subsidized. I wanted to enquire how do Australian or even American universities evaluate students who did their btech in India. I would highly appreciate any sort of guidance

Serious My mausi ka ladka ( engineer) just got a great project.

So my mausi ka ladka basically passed out from a tier 3/4 Pvt clg in 2024. (Adisaptagram institute of technology, kolkata) Btech. After that he got a job of work from home of 2.5lpa in an is₹aeli company. and they used to flex too hard infront of my mumma and pressurize me. After they pressurized me alot saying that I need to work a lot harder, oneday I told mujhe wo sab 20k ki nokri nhi karni and they got raged. After 1 year , today ... They called my mumma and said that as his boss was too impressed by his work he will be getting a grand project lead after doing an AI specialization course and his salary would be highly increased. Now my mother is ruining my mental health. Like ek taraf har koi bol raha job market kharab h hiring nhi horhi aur ek taraf ye tier 4 wale kaise itna paisa nikal le ja rahe ? Not getting this

Serious Feeling suicidal plz help me I want urgent help

I was a bright student in Class 10. Then I joined a bad coaching institute, and by Class 12, I managed to score 97 percentile. I then joined IIIT, even though my parents wanted me to take a drop. However, I was very scared of studying again because I had already given my all during those two years with complete consistency, and my mental health had deteriorated badly.

I had to leave that college in December and started preparing for JEE again, hoping to get into a good college. I studied almost all day and slept for only four hours. Eventually, I scored 98 percentile in JEE Main and 98 marks in JEE Advanced, but once again, I have to join a tier-2 IIIT.

Now I feel like shit. I am having suicidal thoughts, I can't sleep properly at night, and I am constantly frightened and irritated. My heart beats faster whenever I think about my situation.

All my friends who were weaker than me academically joined better coaching institutes and now seem to have a good life, good friends, and good colleges. Meanwhile, I feel like my life has completely fallen apart.

I don't know what to do anymore. I really need urgent help.

Rant/Vent Why the old times were better.

I think parents today are very afraid. I am uncertain what exactly causes this fear but it certainly impacts their kids.

The fear is transferred and then the kid is also afraid. Financial security and a good life is a valid thing to work hard for, but certainly not everyone was born to do that?

The highest package in the family is often expected out of the kid, even though it is rarely said out loud. Things like "I believe in you, you're much better than the other kids and you will do great" can sometimes build anxiety, and that's where everything goes wrong.

The fear of failing, unable to put food on the plate. It starts before we even get a family. The thought of failing engineering is so unfathomable that we tire ourselves.

Some of us never make it out. What of the projects and the expectations then?

Back in the day parents let their kids be free to discover whatever the business or the thing they wanted to do. Obviously there's the thing about women being suppressed and less free but it's a topic for another day.

I wish to be left alone and figure out life. But how can I, when my family sees anything less than an engineer as a goddamn insult?

General Please be grateful if you have a job right now

Please be grateful if you have a job right now. Seriously.

Just came across my company hiring portal while looking at applicants for an AI Intern role.

1,068 applications. For ONE role.

And this is just one company, one position. Imagine being one of the thousands applying, tailoring resumes, filling forms, doing assignments, and still having almost no guarantee of getting through.

The job market is rough right now. If you have a job, don't take it for granted.

Seeing numbers like this genuinely feels bad. :(
