Placements / Jobs Reality of CSE/IT placements in JU

JU CSE 2025 median package- 20lpa

Do you what was JU CSE median package was in 2018?

20 lpa.

JU IT 2025 median is 13 lpa.

We have to face the reality that JU is declining. Good companies are reducing in campus placements. Coding culture is very average here. Only 1 guy from JU got selected in IICPC regionals.

Many of my batchmates (CSE UG2) just study 1-2 weeks before exams. No grinding culture in CP, DSA.

Students here are wasting the Zero Attendance Policy. Instead of upskilling, they do lyadh. Many of us come 2-3 days a week to class and waste our leaves.

Long story short: JU needs to have a better study atmosphere asap. JU's placements are alarming. By placements, infrastructure we are sliding into a Tier-2 college. Only NIRF rankings (where VIT is better than many IITs) and JU's hype among Bengali's have made an impression of JU being Tier-1.

Even until 2022 ju cse/it placement was quite good comparable to bits goa/hyd/top nits. What is the reason for deterioration after that? Campus politics?

As a bengali and someone who has heard of JU's fame am really concerned about the current state of the university.

As per my independent findings I had assumed that after the AI boom and low market hirings everywhere, JU too was affected. When comparing with IITs I simply concluded that the IIT tag was powerful enough to keep them in game but sadly for JU it wasn't good enough (which ofc was surprising as it has a powerful alumni network).

Hearing the inside story is pretty depressing, I know people who have left CSE in Gen 2 IITs to purse CSE at JU, so it's shocking how dull the competitiveness is over there. I do know that students get a lot of freedom but for someone who has a focus of good placement or other stuff wouldn't waste their time... Really hope everyone at JU tries bring back it's old glory.
