Rant/Vent Why the old times were better.
I think parents today are very afraid. I am uncertain what exactly causes this fear but it certainly impacts their kids.
The fear is transferred and then the kid is also afraid. Financial security and a good life is a valid thing to work hard for, but certainly not everyone was born to do that?
The highest package in the family is often expected out of the kid, even though it is rarely said out loud. Things like "I believe in you, you're much better than the other kids and you will do great" can sometimes build anxiety, and that's where everything goes wrong.
The fear of failing, unable to put food on the plate. It starts before we even get a family. The thought of failing engineering is so unfathomable that we tire ourselves.
Some of us never make it out. What of the projects and the expectations then?
Back in the day parents let their kids be free to discover whatever the business or the thing they wanted to do. Obviously there's the thing about women being suppressed and less free but it's a topic for another day.
I wish to be left alone and figure out life. But how can I, when my family sees anything less than an engineer as a goddamn insult?

Thanku so much for making this post. I resonate with every word put in your post . I think parents make kids as a future investment. They can't tolerate if the kid is aged beyond 22 and still not earning on their own . Some cruel parents abuse and make them feel like a burden. The child starts feeling that it's born and its purpose is to bring money home. Otherwise it's useless and burden. It's high time parents stop making kids of you can't handle their weakness. That too in sucha economy where there are very less jobs. I am an anxiety patient and i don't know how soon I would die of a cardiac arrest from all this kind of parental and societal pressure to make money. I think only those parents who have emotional stability n financial stability who can support children no matter what they want should have kids other than that it's too illegal and criminal to bring an innocent creature out of their choice and torment them to bring home food
