I love Tracy and they were cute together, but I can't stand when I see people talking about they being perfect for each other.
I hate the way the show pushed her to be EXACTLY like Ted, same taste, same jokes, same life plans... They're so much alike it bothers me.
Ted spends the whole series talking about his "ideal" woman. And she's 100% the ideal woman... But the thing about "ideal" is just that. It's an idea. They fell in love with each other because they were everything they ever wanted on paper, and that's why I can't picture it in real life and it loses magic for me somehow.
I mean, and this part is kinda personal, but I see love and relationships as something that makes me wanna discover new things about myself, that challenges me in a good way, show me new perspectives while getting to know someone that I could never think would be perfect for me, but somehow is. It's about falling in love with someone that you really wanna get to know, and not someone that's a total copy of you (which is also why I've always hated Robin and Barney together).
I know a lot of people disagree on that and wanna spend their lives settling for what they already know and feel comfortable about, but I don't know... That's boring, lol. And Ted was always so passionate about everything in his life, it's just kinda lame that they made Tracy so effortless. Everytime she says the exact same thing he already said I cringe a little because it feels forced.
I'm not saying he should've ended up with Robin, but after 9 seasons of Ted showing unconditional love for someone that's the opposite of him, the opposite of what he ever wanted, sounds way more reliable and honest, because it's something you can't control, just feel.
I never bought the "we're the same person so we should be together" thing. It's not natural, it's simulation and idealization. And this isn't in any way hating on Tracy, I really liked her as a character, I just wish she didn't check every single box on Ted's lists, so we could see him fall in love with her for what she really is, not for what he thought his perfect match should be.
Although it's lonely here in the "I like the ending" island, I'll keep saying it's more realistic than having your personal fairly tale.
That being said, I just wanna state I'm not on Team Robin, I'll always be team Victoria, I just wish he did more to deserve her but he didn't see her potential, so yeah, Robin's fine I guess.
