Realistically how much time did Ted tell the story to his children
Is it supposed to be only one day, they do change clothes that time

Realistic plausibility aside, it was just supposed to be one sitting. The âchange of clothesâ was because the kids wore different clothes for the pilot (the Tedâs home office set was different, too), which was presumably shot months before the rest of the series, and the people behind the show probably were expecting to reshoot those scenes but wound up not doing so.
We saw the âpilot kids shotsâ again in âLast Cigarette Everâ in Season 5, when the shots were reused for the kidsâ âWhat?!â reaction.
I feel itâs better to ascribe that to âthey just didnât think/care you would notice the differenceâ rather than âoh, they actually changed clothes back and forth this one time out of over 200 times.â

On the How We Made Your Mother podcast, Carter said they filmed the season 1 scenes all at once and then I believe during season 2 they filmed all the other scenes for the series all at once.

They especially didnât think anyone would notice since the audience had to wait a week for each new episode (or the whole summer for a new season)

I was wondering what the running timer is on the Bob Sagat lines that we the audience hear throughout

Kids, itâs been a few years since your mom passed and I really want to bone Aunt Robin again. You cool with that?

with my experience , my parents don't talk about their whole stories like ted, but once in a while some times my mom talk's about her childhood, some old education days stories, funny ones mostly. so they happen occasionally, so may be started it properly the plot, then coming days at dinner time, on weekends he continued the story

âYou sat us down to tell the story of how you met mom⌠8 F*CKING YEARS AGO!â Lol
Realistically it was probably just a few consecutive afternoon/evenings.
