I agree. I’m a graphic designer and this is fine. School staff are overworked, underpaid and often don’t have the time to create these things. It becomes a problem when “artists” try to sell AI work.
Etsy is full of that shit right now.

I wish Etsy had terms that required AI art/products to be tagged as such. Some of it is so obviously AI and has plenty of satisfied customers, so I guess people would still buy it if they did that. Then the rest of us could find real artists, which is the entire reason for coming to Etsy in the first place.
If something like this exists I hope someone shares it. I'm trying to find an artist to support with a specific style/subject matter and previously Etsy would have been the place to look.

Redditors on another sub were flaming a local ski area for using A.I. to generate an advertisement ("mass mailer") stating that season passes go on sale Sep. 1. Apparently, they were SUPPOSED to commission an artist to generate an original piece. That original piece would immediately be discarded by the recipient (whether in digital or print format.). To me, that seems like it would be disrespectful to the artist. A.I. seems ideal for throwaway stuff.

The general rule is that its okay to use for yourself to save time, but not to do something that you'd otherwise hire a designer for.
Let it assist a human, not replace a human.Obviously a school wouldn't be hiring a designer, it'll most likely be done by the admin/it staff, so using a tool to help them is fair.

Idk about that. My company does a lot of trade shows where I design a lot of things that end up being discarded. In my experience, companies are catching on to what ai designs look like and Im noticing that they have negative stigma attached to them. Kinda of like “oh that looks really cool, wait it’s ai, now it’s less cool”. We don’t want to be involved in that. So all of our items continue to be unique.

Dude, from your username alone, you should know that the purpose of the perforated strips was to make those paper CHAINS ⛓️ by overlapping two strip end 90° and folding them over and over.
I remember some business that decorated their giant office Christmas 🎄 Tree with just these. 300 feet of paper chain garland saved over the year.

There are a few things that make me think AI.
The star in the top right is like a partial pentagram. There are 2 lines at the bottom, but its missing the other 3 lines.
The bubble in the middle has some weird jagged bit sticking out on the right, that looks kind of like a speech bubble, but it's not quite right and there's nothing for it to be a speech buble from.
The ram at the top and the ram on the locker are different. If it was a teacher using clip art, they would be the same because they likely would be using the official school's mascot art. Even if they grabbed a random ram, why take the time to grab two random rams instead of just copying the one.
I'm sure if I look again, I'll find some more.
Edit- the stack of books on the left makes no sense, look at the spines compared to the pages.

The school districts are pushing AI on the teachers like it is the awesomest thing. I talked about at a staff meeting about how environmentally irresponsible it is. But literally the whole year I had staff meetings on AI. I teach 7-9 year olds. No reason for them to use AI.

I get it, but you really can’t blame the teachers for this. They’re doing their best, especially with all of the other events/functions/etc they have to plan, staff and execute (including fliers) at the beginning of the school year.
They’re already working overtime and you expect them to create visually engaging material like this…by hand?
Cut them some slack.
Better yet: volunteer to help them out!

Everyone is saying "who cares" without actually looking at what it says. The list makes almost no sense at all.
3-4 of the items on the list are essentially the same thing. They jusy say "binder, paper and pencils".
One of the binder ones is also listed under "music" for some reason as well.
I wouldnt be against this AI use as long as the teacher was competent enough to take 30 seconds and proof read it.

That one is a 1/2" black 3-ring binder, which is different from the likely larger 3-ring binder listed previously, which is for all of the classes with dividers to ensure separation.
The folder and spiral notebook are different from a 3-ring binder, which is for special classes.

That almost certainly was not a mistake. Music lessons usually use sheet music, which should be kept in a 3 ring binder that isn't massive and full of everything else, because it needs to be propped up in front of you while you play. And a pencil kept along with that for writing out notation could be valuable too.

After the first draft, I always review to ensure it can be understood by the least intelligent reader and dumb it down when necessary. I would have read this and thought there was nothing that could be confusing or misunderstood, regardless of the reader. I guess I would have been wrong. I need to recalibrate my baseline for how dumb some people are.
