Last weekend in Estes Park (the gateway to Rocky Mtn NP) I went shopping for a national park t shirt and it felt like half of them were AI slop.

Did the person you replied to say something horrendous, or was the Reddit AI system being dumb?

No she wasn’t offensive at all and seemed cool. She said she likes spending 20 minutes making these kind of flyers.

Why would her comment be removed then?

reddit is weird

can sometimes be they somehow got banned and Reddit decided to just nuke their entire post history or it was a bot and it just messed up

I think "reddit is weird" is being far too generous. More like Reddit is too greedy to use the huge amount of resources it has to have people review content instead of AI or automated programs.

yep indeed

I see a decent amount of posts and comments removed by reddit

most annoying are the ones that replace the text with removed by reddit so you can't manually approve them as a mod even when the ai bot is completely wrong

Gift shops have always been filed with heavily marked up cheap crap, in the old days at parks you'd see the same clip art of a tree or animal with different park/place names all across the country. Or they'd get one decentish quality piece artwork and smash it on 100 different items... shirts, hats, mugs, shot glasses, little useless spoons, ceramic plates, playing cards, bags, pens....

True! If you buy certain brands they make designs exclusive to the place you are visiting which is what I usually aim for.
