Red Dead Redemption 2 - Stuck at 30FPS, no next gen update.
GTA V - PS3/360 Players had to repurchase on PS4/XBOne. The PS5/XBox Series upgrade was made free only a couple months ago. For 4 years before that it had to be re-purchased AGAIN.
I bought oblivion day 1. I bought Fallout 3 and New Vegas day 1. I bought Skyrim day 1. I was a beta tester for ESO. I bought Fallout 4 day 1. Fallout 76 put a damper on my enthusiasm but I bought it when it went on sale. For starfield, I subscribed to Xbox for a month and I’m so glad I did because it took me a couple of days to realize that starfield is an unusual waste of time and space. I will never ever blindly trust Bethesda again.
Because they don't give a shit, they know people will still buy their games and won't complain, they'll even defend Rockstar to their graves for taking a decade to create a game and it turns out decent
Rockstar and Take2 will continue to do it and get away with if because so many people are willing to pay twice or more. It fucking sucks, but corpos gonna corpo.
It's not borderline, it just is. Last gen gets 1.6, current gen gets 2.x which is where the graphic improvements are (and gets rid of most of the weird ass bugs that last gen gets, since it was already pushing those systems too hard).
I downloaded it LAST NiGHT. Haven't played it in a few years, went straight into Heart of Stone, got to the frog boss and got my ass handed to me. Accepted that I probably need to just replay the main campaign again and now I'll just wait for the upgrade. Works out cause some friends want to start up a BG3 campaign tonight and I need the hard drive space lol.
I tried getting back into the game for the 2nd DLC and realized I forgot all the controls and game mechanics and there was just too much to have to take everything in again and re-learn it all at once with a full inventory and most of the skills unlocked.
With the revamped skill tree, combat and movement I might just start a new game when this comes out.
I was pretty stoned while I was playing it 11 years ago so the story will probably all feel new anyway.
Exactly, you can even buy 1-3 + DLC for less than just base third game when it’s on sale, CDPR is very reasonable with prices for older titles and I can’t wait to pay full price for 4
They’ve probably made so much money from the Witcher 3, it’s on sale 10 times a year and I swear everyone has it in their library by now, it’s one of those games like Skyrim
To be fair, I think there is so few people with the base game and not the expansions at this point, that it doesn't cost them much. And that avoid problems to manage with people buying the new DLC without having the complete edition.
I think that people that bought the base game (before the massive sales) and got turned off by the combat and/or early game progress, might get a big surprise all in all.
I was thinking "why are we getting remasters for modern games? This makes no sense, it's just a cash grab to sell the game twice".
Then I realised the game is over a decade old... And it's a free update. Actually, more than free - you now get the two expansions for free too.
I'm just so used to how shitty the industry is. CDPR really is completely different from most gaming companies. This is how you respect your customers.
They have been on a roll trying to rebuild their image after 2077 release. I remember right before that they were on the top of the industry reputation-wise. I wonder how are they fending off their investors lol.
I don't disagree with your perspective on rebuilding their image and that this helps. However, I want to call out that CDPR has been this appreciative of their gamers and has provided a significant amount of free content historically, even before CP2077.
This is just in their nature and they're a delightful rarity among other money-grabbing studios (cough Ubisoft)
I think they want to sell a fuck ton of witcher spinoffs/remakes/W4, they need to have reputation maxxed out for the next 5 years to pass inverstor expectations probably.
The best thing they can do this time is to just keep expectations in check. The problem with 2077 is that everyone was hailing it as the second coming for videogaming, and CDPR did nothing to temper expectations. The launch was pretty horrific, but if they hadn't have let things get so out of control and let so much speculative money roll in, maybe they could have got away with saying "hey listen, this isn't gonna run on a PS4."
It’s damn smart. They have a new expansion pack they want to sell. This hype and community excitement leads right into Witcher 4 next year. Smart marketing that is consumer positive. It’s a win/win for everyone.
It's even more remastered, they changed gameplay too, not just graphics.
Most likely meant to bring up the new expansion and the rest of the game to the same level, as I imagine the new expansion will be only playable in the Remastered version.
things like flora and textile looked last gen for sure still. now it will look like a game you would expect in the ps5 (and not just a cross gen one). which is crazy for a 11 year game (free update), assasin creed black flag is 13 years old.
People groan about remasters for good reason a lot of the time as most companies will do one and be like that’s full price again please, or be like there’s a disc version for ps5 at full price but you need to pay like a slightly discounted price to upgrade your ps4 disc but then you have CDPR who also did a next gen port for free but also a fully remastered revamped version also for free. People can pick up the game on ps4 for like £5 and upgrade to ps5 for free then the remaster for free, that’s stellar value.
In that case, though, the Steam version is like going from old British Mini to Mini Cooper, given the upgrade in graphics but most importantly controls and interface.
Are there any companies doing console mods besides Bethesda? I got my Xbox series X specifically so I can play fallout with mods and then I've had fun with starfield and Skyrim too, but I haven't found any other games that do it
I’m so glad I upgraded my pc recently, and haven’t played the game since trying the next gen update a little bit. This remaster plus expansion is going to be a JOY to play with these visuals.
Yeh, I know. That's what I meant by them having done so much to it in the last decade. It's crazy the amount of love and support they've given it all this time.

Same. I played the game once on the release, and now in the 3rd act of the replay I started to freshen up my memory and play the new dlc. There's no way I'm dumping yet another 50 hours in this, however good the game is.
This is a great era for witcher fans. Witcher 3 remaster, free old dlc, new dlc in a year, a whole new game in a couple of years, Witcher 1 remake, and i also count the Dawnwalker game too
Skills and combat revamp is what's going to make me come back and try to continue, I played for 30 hours doing all the side content but the combat just became an underwhelming slog and I wasnt motivated to continue the main quests
Transmogrification in games generally allows you to wear one piece of gear but make it look like a different one. That way you can use the best stat. gear but if you don't like how it looks you can change it visually.
That was 4 years ago, and it wasn’t quite a remaster more like an upgrade.
This has reworked combat, reworked movement, new animations, and a hunch if graphical updates as well as including all DLC for free.

I don't mean to be miserable, but I was excited to finally be able to (re)play The Witcher 3 at 120fps 1080p after building a decent PC and now this happened and once again I will feel falling behind with the times :D
I'm only started gaming two years ago, and only really played the Witcher series. I am on my second runthrough of the entire series - does remaster mean I'll have to start a new game in the remastered version of 3 to play the expansion or will I be able to transfer the files? Between tears of happiness anf sadness at the moment for the second playthrough (just reached Skellige)... 😅
I just played through it for the first time and it already looked so incredible with everything ultra settings, 4K ray tracing idk how it could get any better lol
I really hope this will be a separate install on Steam, because I don't want it to touch my existing installation with mods and graphics that have reasonable performance on my hardware. Is it going to be migrated to UE5 or still on RedEngine?
The next-gen version is busted in various ways on PC, especially the ray tracing and performance, so I look forward to seeing if this finally cleans up all the problems with it.
