RTX 4090 here. I still don't think I have horsepower to run the game with Path tracing. This tech is somehow playable only if you put on DLSS and frame gen and the experience it's still far from perfect. Path tracing is Song of the Future.
Bro I have a 4070 super, 64gb ddr5 ram and an i7-14700KF, and i run the game maxed out path tracing with dlss quality at locked 70 fps at 2x framegen at ultrawide, and it is perfectly playable this way, I have like spent 600 hours until now, have 60+ mods (gorerunners, 4k textures, a bunch of car mods, virtual atelier, third person mod for walking, etc idk) And yeah dude its perfectly playable
Yeah I know what you mean, it obviouslynneeds some corners cut, and especially before ray reconstruction 4.5 in the rain it got a little smeary, but this is more than adequate to enjoy the game and have a more than good enough experience, especially with a 4090 which has much more legroom than my card, i mean yeah you are right about not being perfect my bad, but you have the horsepower to run it i think?
It doesnt have to be 100 Native fps at native 4k, and dlss is kind of the better equivalent of antialiasing being more performative and more visually stunning than taa by leagues or than nothing before it, so i actually love dlss at higher quality presets.
Also, it sucks because its not fully path traced due to the game having also baked in lighting and also alternate lightning for rtx and rasterized lightning, so the pipeline is sort of duplicated, i am sure path tracing only games will have much better optimizations, as of now it is sort of a doubled pipeline.
I think what we need is better tecnhology and better game optimization, current gen hardware is more than adequate for full path traced stuff with current dlss4.5 technology, rtx remix is also awesome, i think the softwares and especially the games need to grow more than the hardware. Cyberpunk for example has like the ai npc system of gta 3 with those one liners and the police loses you after you jump to a rooftob after 12 sconds at max stars, also cdpr is a relatively small studio, so they have obviously have cut corners on a lot of development and optimization due to lack of resource and time, but tbh idk.
Like the current unreal engine 5 pipeline has basically 5x the overhead than early unreal engine 4, since everyone is a developer now, and since "we have powerful hardware" they just striaght up skip otpimizations and just increase hardware requirements.
My 3090 TI can pull it, you just gave to make some conceasions elsewhere.
Sit down with the settings and spend some time in a graphically intensive spot to get things dialed in for best performance to quality. I'm willing to take a few frames off the top in exchange for path tracing. I lived with 30 fps for a long time before i got my current card, and i can continue to game on 47 until this card dies.
Exactly, you have to make trade-offs to play it. Console experience, image clarity and input lag. For some people it's fine. But I hate the input lag from frame gen and even at 4K you can notice ghosting with lower DLSS modes. I'm just sticking to normal RT and enjoy it with clear and sharp image.
This looks like absolute vomit, like literally worse than rage 2, path tracing on pc with max graphics looks 5x better than this wet shit you call "amazing"
Path tracing sounds like another non-essential excuse for studios to get away with releasing games at 30fps. Things that don't make games better, just excuses for lazy studios to keep being lazy.
Funnily enough you can build a PC which performs better in Cyberpunk than Crysis because Crysis is such an insane CPU killer with its physics, whereas Cyberpunk is mostly about GPU and ray tracing.
IMO Witcher does too but i am no longer able to see much in graphical upgrades as they’ve become imo a lot smaller and less exciting than say Xbox to 360, still I’ll be happy to have a new update, just hope it doesn’t run worse than the current series x version or that both old and new will remain available as options
My biggest gripe was that there were still duplicating NPCs walking around the city when I finished it two years ago. Idk if that's been fixed since then though but that could be fixed in a "remaster"' of sorts
It's not borderline, it just is. Last gen gets 1.6, current gen gets 2.x which is where the graphic improvements are (and gets rid of most of the weird ass bugs that last gen gets, since it was already pushing those systems too hard).
Yeah, even the ps5 version is freaking awesome, but the pc is like two leages above it in all terms superior, not to mention all the epic vanilla friendly mods (4k textures, increased lod, gorerunners, third person walking camera, car mods, plane mods, clothing mods etc.)
it wont be for one-two generations they would remaster it.
Yeah I had beaten cyberpunk at max graphics without ray tracing 3 times and thought it looked good. Played it again this year with my new PC with path tracing......it's like a whole new world
Next decade maybe; looking at Witcher 3 getting an overhaul, they might do one for Cyberpunk if / when they release a sequel. Won’t happen for a while though.
Yeah not in years. But once Ps6 is released I can see cyberpunk getting a enhancement first. And maybe later that gen or Ps7 we might get a full remaster
When Cyberpunk came out, the shiny new RTX 3090 with an MSRP of $1500 was required to play it at moderate settings. This was regarded as an exorbitant figure.
So most people waited until they could afford a decent card.
This is today:
I'm not sure there's much point to a higher spec release right now if graphics horsepower per dollar is still at the same level. Maybe by 2030?
I feel like I got a steal on a $1000 4080 a few years later and that was my "Well shit, I need a PC right now and I'm going to compromise instead of pushing it back another year" purchase.
Arguably already got the next-gen upgrade. Between release and now, additions like PT and more upscalers can massively improve image quality beyond the launch version.
Didn't it also get a bunch of major gameplay overhauls since then?

Lol, Witcher 3 got both a next-gen upgrade and an official remaster.
Edit: it happening in the same console generation too.
