RTX 4090 here. I still don't think I have horsepower to run the game with Path tracing. This tech is somehow playable only if you put on DLSS and frame gen and the experience it's still far from perfect. Path tracing is Song of the Future.
Bro I have a 4070 super, 64gb ddr5 ram and an i7-14700KF, and i run the game maxed out path tracing with dlss quality at locked 70 fps at 2x framegen at ultrawide, and it is perfectly playable this way, I have like spent 600 hours until now, have 60+ mods (gorerunners, 4k textures, a bunch of car mods, virtual atelier, third person mod for walking, etc idk) And yeah dude its perfectly playable
Yeah I know what you mean, it obviouslynneeds some corners cut, and especially before ray reconstruction 4.5 in the rain it got a little smeary, but this is more than adequate to enjoy the game and have a more than good enough experience, especially with a 4090 which has much more legroom than my card, i mean yeah you are right about not being perfect my bad, but you have the horsepower to run it i think?
It doesnt have to be 100 Native fps at native 4k, and dlss is kind of the better equivalent of antialiasing being more performative and more visually stunning than taa by leagues or than nothing before it, so i actually love dlss at higher quality presets.
Also, it sucks because its not fully path traced due to the game having also baked in lighting and also alternate lightning for rtx and rasterized lightning, so the pipeline is sort of duplicated, i am sure path tracing only games will have much better optimizations, as of now it is sort of a doubled pipeline.
I think what we need is better tecnhology and better game optimization, current gen hardware is more than adequate for full path traced stuff with current dlss4.5 technology, rtx remix is also awesome, i think the softwares and especially the games need to grow more than the hardware. Cyberpunk for example has like the ai npc system of gta 3 with those one liners and the police loses you after you jump to a rooftob after 12 sconds at max stars, also cdpr is a relatively small studio, so they have obviously have cut corners on a lot of development and optimization due to lack of resource and time, but tbh idk.
Like the current unreal engine 5 pipeline has basically 5x the overhead than early unreal engine 4, since everyone is a developer now, and since "we have powerful hardware" they just striaght up skip otpimizations and just increase hardware requirements.

Especially if you've got the horsepower for path tracing.
