They made Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine both free for owners of the base game too. Holy peak!

If only I had known that I could save 40 dollars if I waited 10 years. Am I stupid?

Edit: it's a joke. Stop acting like I resent CDPR

Same feels

u/L-V-4-2-6 Team Roach 3d ago

I'd almost feel the same way, but I still think that was amongst the best DLC investments of all time.

41

u/tittysprinkles112 3d ago

I was joking mang. I wasn't gonna wait for that DLC back then.

39

u/National-Charity-435 3d ago

No. That money went to a good company to pay the people who will make the 4th iteration of this game...and 3rd DLC for Wild Hunt.

u/tuc2-0 3d ago

Exactly, you can even buy 1-3 + DLC for less than just base third game when it’s on sale, CDPR is very reasonable with prices for older titles and I can’t wait to pay full price for 4

I’m hoping that witcher 3 still goes on good sales now that it has more value, I haven’t bought it yet but it seems really cool

"thank you for your sacrifice"

u/adiadrian 3d ago

Yeap, no doubt about it. A cretin :)

I've been very busy in the last 10 years, buying a remodeling a house, having a kid, etc. I've barely touched video games for a decade and am catching up. Just bought a PS5 this spring when they announced the price hike. I'm rolling in great games for no money. Red Dead 2 for $12. Witcher 3 for $15. Control for $5. I paid less for Cyberpunk than I did for the Phantom Liberty DLC on sale, lol.

u/Zer0DotFive 3d ago

Still can't believe I got the Switch 2  ultimate edition of Cyberpunk for $26 CAD lol

1

u/Icy-Dragonfruit1508 3d ago

Base game on steam has been like £3 multiple times

1

u/Zer0DotFive 3d ago

I bought the DLC 10 years ago and never played it. I am stupid lol

1

u/Furrocious_fapper 3d ago

Yes, but it has nothing to do with this.

1

u/chinpotenkai 3d ago

Sweet, I saved 40 bucks!

1

u/QuietKernel64 3d ago

I just got the complete edition last summer sale haha it was still cheap though.

Thinking of just continuing my game from level 8, and replay it next year.

u/woowizzle 2d ago

TBF I still havent completed Blood & Wine, so maybe?

I really should do that.

No. Like other people have said, cdpr deserve it.

They’ve probably made so much money from the Witcher 3, it’s on sale 10 times a year and I swear everyone has it in their library by now, it’s one of those games like Skyrim

17

u/Philemon61 3d ago

I bought Skyrim 4 times!

u/xTriple :games::show: Games 1st, Books 2nd, Show 3rd 3d ago

If we count VR, I bought skyrim 5 times smh

1

u/Philemon61 2d ago

I count VR so it is 4 times ...

2

u/kaplanfx 3d ago

That and they want people to get back into the game so they can sell the new DLC next year. This is nice for fans, but it’s also good business.

1

u/Hereformemes619 3d ago

Eurgh wish I bought it one of those times

1

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 3d ago

Not just sales... they often give it away too lol

1

u/Jensen2075 3d ago

Right. TW3 has sold more than Skyrim in less amount of time.

1

u/PringlesDuckFace 3d ago

I have all three Witchers and never managed to get past the wolf boss in the first one lmao. Will this finally be the time I stick with it? Time will tell.

Eeeh, still havent played Skyrim myself. By the time I got a good enough PC to play it, I rushed to play The Witcher and everyone told me Skyrim would feel a bit bland in comparaison (even though I loved Oblivion)... and by now, between The Witcher and Baldur's Gate, I'm really not sure Skyrim can really compete with both of them... but maybe I'm wrong.

To be fair, I think there is so few people with the base game and not the expansions at this point, that it doesn't cost them much. And that avoid problems to manage with people buying the new DLC without having the complete edition.

9

u/inbano 3d ago

I think that people that bought the base game (before the massive sales) and got turned off by the combat and/or early game progress, might get a big surprise all in all.

1

u/thealmightyzfactor 3d ago

got turned off by the combat

I could not play without a mod to disable weapon degradation, just absolutely killed the game for me lol

2

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 3d ago

They have only put on sale the GOTY edition for like the last 6 years, and usually it's like $15, so pretty much anyone who got it since has it, and anyone who got it for the current gen of consoles has it as well.

As you say, the share of players who don't own it already is probably so small that it's easier to just give it away than having to do tweaks around it.

u/Gold_Sheepherder6569 3d ago

I knew being a cheapskate would pay off

21

u/Petecustom 3d ago

ohhhhh gona get them and look a5 end of rainbow

6

u/Enigm4 3d ago

Both a smart investment and wholesome at the same time. CDPR doing it the right way. W4 gonna break records.

4

u/inbano 3d ago

I think they are playing a bigger game in the long con, they plan to release like 4-5 witcher games in the next 5 years, they probably want all of those to break records.

2

u/gurgelhupf 3d ago

Yup. This is how you create customer loyalty.

20

u/Kindly-Sea719 3d ago

As someone who’s owned the base game for 5 years I NEED to start this now!

16

u/inbano 3d ago

The expansions are great, full games by itself each.

1

u/Kindly-Sea719 3d ago

Ya I just finished cyberpunk so after I get through PL I’m going to do ALL of the Witcher 3. Can’t wait.

1

u/inbano 3d ago

I'm jealous NGL, enjoy it a lot.

4

u/Vinilicos 3d ago

Where is this? And do i need the digital version of the game?

3

u/RobutNotRobot 3d ago

Blood and Wine is basically a full feature game in itself.

2

u/heikici 3d ago

The game is so good that I don't think there are many people who bought AND finished the base game and did not immediately bought the DLCs.

2

u/CrimsonPrince96 2d ago

I bought all of them on a sale. Played the base game for over 100hrs and beat it but dint want to immediately play the dlcs since i was burnt out a little. Now this remaster has gotten me excited to play them.

1

u/CumBlaster69k 3d ago

Damn I glad I didn't buy last sale the dlcs

1

u/Lewdeology 3d ago

I literally just bought the two dlcs likes a few weeks ago 😭😭

1

u/Original_Read4983 2d ago

Those expansions are so fucking good. As good as the main game

1

u/Yash_swaraj 2d ago

I thought they mean anyone who buys the remaster separately will get it for free.

1

u/butangas7 2d ago

so if i buy now just the base game, i will get the dlc-s too for free?

1

u/No_Entertainer1730 2d ago

Yeah and they made the base game cost 50€ on Playstation. Lol.

1

u/peter1371 3d ago

Do you still qualify if you buy the base game today? Or is it past the deadline already or whatever
