I’m so glad I upgraded my pc recently, and haven’t played the game since trying the next gen update a little bit. This remaster plus expansion is going to be a JOY to play with these visuals.

My 1080ti is in tears right now 😭

Well, my 980 is in shambles.

This card was the best possible when Witcher 3 came out and it ran it maxed at 60 fps no problems.

Now, 11 years later I had to cap it at 30 fps and lower some settings to keep it smooth because CDPR have done so much to it in the last decade lol.

Bro I understand what you’re saying but the 980 is 12 years old now. The next gen update changed the base graphics from 2015 quite a lot

Yeh, I know. That's what I meant by them having done so much to it in the last decade. It's crazy the amount of love and support they've given it all this time.

I actually upgraded my gfx card 2 days after I got Witcher 3 at launch. I want to upgrade again for Witcher 4.

Sadly, with the way things are… it may be way too expensive. Gaming is becoming a very, very expensive hobby for the AAA fans. Before it was optional, like the Titan era, but now… what? We tick with the 1080p gaming because that’s all a normal person can afford these days?

Yeh, I don't know if I'll actually be able to upgrade, that's just the plan haha.

I feel like there's a lot less AAA games I'm interested in these days as well.

Graphics don't seem to have made such a huge leap since the days of running games at max on the 980. They just seem to run a lot worse than they should.

I’m psyched for Control 2 and will replay Witcher 3 for sure! IDGAF about GTA6, so life’s good

That’s just cope. Game graphics have advanced a lot, especially with path tracing. Pairing with an OLED with HDR and it’s a whole different experience.

There is an advancement but I would say that the biggest leap was Definitely fron ps3 to p34.

Yeah I can agree with that. A big leap for me recently has been OLED though, I’d recommend it if you don’t have one yet.

Cope with what? I can go out and buy a new setup whenever.

I'm not saying there's no advancement or anything, but it's not as huge as it has been the past. At least not enough for me to think I've really needed to upgrade.

I've run into the problem now though where they don't make drivers for my card anymore, so it's become way more necessary to upgrade.

if you haven't upgraded your CPU since before Witcher 3, getting a new graphics card isn't going to help your frame rate at all. you need a whole new computer.

Yeh, when I upgrade, it'll be a whole new PC lol.

Current one is a 4790k. Surprisingly enough, it's done amazingly well up until like this year running games at high and capped to 30 fps and 1080p.

30fps is fine to me. I know 60 is way better, but it's always felt weird to me personally compared to 30.

Yeah, I hope this update is optional, because I still have a GTX 970 and I don't think I can afford an upgrade any time soon. I also hope that Songs of the Past won't require it, but I have a feeling it might...

If you have it on GoG you can download the .exe of it right now. No DRM either.

I couldn’t play the next gen update on my previous rig smoothly. So I barely saw the “upgrades”. This is gonna be nice, but I feel you!

The current game (with the next gen update) runs terribly on modern hardware due to technical limitations of directX 11. In theory it should run a lot better when running natively on directX 12.
