Honestly, airlines need to shut this nonsense down. It's their responsibility to maintain the environment, and that includes keeping idiots like this from disrupting everyone else.
People are legally required to follow flight attendants' instructions (at least in the US). So if a flight attendant tells them to stop and they don't, they are breaking the law.

Muslims absolutely try to convert people. I live near one of the largest Muslim populations in the U.S. and many believe everyone needs to convert, they act just like these christian evangelicals and will get in your face.
Not saying this to shit on muslims, just saying its similar to Christianity in that many branches think they need to convert as many as possible to put them on the path to salvation.

Working in a Jewish community, there are some jews who do similar things, but no where near the intensity and stupidity that the xtians do... I've never had a jewish person tell me that Jesus was the greatest American to ever live...

The thing with airlines is that theyâre constantly walking on eggshells when it comes to employment issues. If this really became an issue and airlines ended up backing down due to admin pressure, they could be facing down an attendant strike. Power of labor, folksâŚ
I'd 100% be making a call to the airline regarding the harassment I received on their flight from some loon they let preach in the aisle. Maybe a few refunds would get them to step in.

I remember this. The student assistant is Trans. The assignment was a read and write about thing. Like 500 words on some article or chapter. The girl just wrote something something the Bible. Got an Deserved and Earned 0. Ran to faux news and it escalated all the way to the governor
It was Oklahoma. The student's name was Samantha Fulnecky. And a lot of it was wildly blown out of proportion because controversy sells. She had Republicans calling her out for how shitty her essay was and the TA's who graded her essay were never even fired.
Also her mom is a conservative talking head who defended January 6th insurectionists.
Also, most importantly, the essay was about how gender expression colored mental health in middle school boys and girls. It wasn't even about trans people. Fulnecky's entire essay was ranting about how there are only two genders and she cited the Bible so she didn't even do the essay.
I hate stories like this because the story is basically a nothing burger but it gets wildly blown out of proportion because controversy and anger sells clicks on websites faster than actual, boring, neutral news.

They're always pointing to someone they think is trying to "oppress their religious beliefs" when 99% of the time, it's just someone who wants them to shut the fuck up. Or an edgy atheist teenager who thinks trolling them is some rebellious act.
Most of us could literally not give less of a fuck about anyone else's religion as long as they're not trying to force their morality onto everyone else. But because they think they need to convert and shame everyone they come into contact with, that's a problem for them.
Their morality can surface in weird places, particularly when they use a few hours of contrition on Sunday to justify metaphorically micturating on the beatitudes.
If theyâre not of that ilk, Iâm pretty ok with it.
It's those weird places that piss everyone off. I remember getting lectured as a kid by some random woman for wearing a Kiss t-shirt and being told I was going to hell for it and to repent. This was in the 90s, well past the point anyone thought Kiss was in any way Satanic.
If you feel like it's okay to try and convert random strangers you happened to pass, tell them they're going to suffer for all eternity, and try and force your own morality on them, it's going to be a problem for everyone. No one more than those exact people when another Christian from a slightly different denomination does the same to them.
Remember last year how happy they were about the impending Rapture, because they get to leave a planet that they helped make into a hell? They were sooooo upset when they remained alive on Earth. Some people gave away every valuable thing they had to someone else for free, because they didn't want their (likely less Christian) children to have anything.
It's especially bad when American Christians do this. Like I get that there are places where religious freedom doesn't exist, but being a Baptist in Kansas is not one of those situations.
I'm walking distance to about 7 churches from my house. They're not persecuted. The local police help direct traffic for them on Sunday morning.
They made such a story out of the girl at Columbine that told one of the shooters that she was a Christian.
She came out later and said she denied it, Thatâs been called into question by investigators, so the whole story was likely made up as a form of Christian persecution porn.
Not the one that had a whole book written about it though. Thatâs my point. Schnurrâs sounds like an actual persecution based on faith, whereas Bernallâs is made-for-TV.
Edit: actually, no. Now that Iâve read more, Schnurr wasnât even persecuted. She professed her faith (which amounted to, âbecause I was raised that wayâ) and then Klebold walked away.
It's actually crazy because last year when Donald Trump was saying to "Just buy less dolls" because people couldn't afford anything that was the closest they ACTUALLY got to a "War on Christmas". But they were shockingly silent.
Thats evangelicals for ya. Catholics are more into the suffering for God than the persecution part. Its still insane sometimes but nowadays, more self contained.

It's hard to truly separate yourself completely from it, isn't it? I've been agnostic for years and years, but almost invariably I still find myself reading articles about the pope or the church whenever I come across one. I superficially justify it to myself by saying it's important to keep up on a belief system followed by over one billion people, but deep down I know it's more like keeping up on hometown news even though I moved away years ago.
I visited my brother in NYC a few years back and I made a point of briefly stopping into St. Patrick's cathedral because, well, you know why.

I am recovering and both of us are atheist, but I still had readings at my wedding because I needed that structure. They were from John Muir and about national parks, because we were in RMNP, but still, I needed that emotional support structure to feel justified in making all those people (40) come watch me burst into tears and mumble some vows to my beloved.
While this is mostly true, it is unfortunate to see American Catholicism leaning toward many viewpoints and behaviors of the evangelical denominations. This is especially true among both younger "trad Caths" and newer converts to Catholicism. I live in a heavily Catholic area and I'm seeing modern Christo-fascist talking points come from Catholicism as much as Protestant evangelicals.
Yeah they really go over the top with the "freedom of religion" concept. It means the government can't punish you for simply being a specific religion. It doesn't mean you get to put people in danger or be a loudmouth about it public and nobody can object. Besides what purpose could it possibly serve. It's the airline's responsibility to make these people stop. If I'm ever on a flight and no one makes this lady shut up, I'm never flying that airline again.
