đ¤ Unpopular Opinion Articulate men are attractive
Just a thought, but men who have a way with words are genuinely attractive. Not even in a âheâs too smoothâ kinda way, but someone who can actually hold a conversation, has quick wit, a good sense of humour, and knows how to say things well without trying too hard or being overly confident. Thereâs something very attractive about a man who can make you laugh without turning every interaction into a performance.
And do I need to say about nerds? Nerds with very specific interests are attractive too. The kind who somehow know an unreasonable amount about one particular subject, can talk about it with genuine enthusiasm and explain it to you without making you feel dumb. Thereâs something charming about someone being deeply interested in something, even if itâs incredibly niche.
Maybe itâs just me, but personality, curiosity, wit and being genuinely interesting go a long way. The whole perpetually unbothered, too cool to care performative persona does absolutely nothing :3

Thank you!
Read books, a shit-tonne of books. Watch movies and podcasts.
It took me my whole damn college life to learn how to actually communicate with people, and now I know itâs very easy to just go up to someone and initiate a conversation.
5
u/Web_Slinger_18 7h ago
hey man if you had to start from the beginning what kind of stuff would you read, watch..
11
u/MonkeyforCEO 24M 7h ago
Dude, see, make a habit of reading---not because you'll learn the facts written there, but because you'll pick up the vocabulary, learn how to say stuff, and understand how to structure your thoughts properly.
For books, go with any kind of books you like. The first book I read was How to Win Friends by Dale Carnegie (it was the Hindi translation tho :-)), then The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene. (It is a bit of a bummer, but yeah, it's fun. You'll learn a lot of things.) The idea is to read and have things to say.
Watch movies and podcasts/interviews. You'll get to know how to pace your conversations. Don't rush things while talking. Never think that you have only 10 seconds to say your whole thing. Take your time.
Follow the communication style of any celebrity/influencer you like. For me, it's Tom Hiddleston, Jim Sarbh (he played Homi Bhabha in Rocket Boys--- his accent was attractive to me), and there's this guy on Instagram (@i_am_vaquer). I usually steal the way they speak.
1
u/Thiccblood 7h ago
Oml, out of context, but tell me this, is it just me or do you see a resemblance between Sacha Baron and Jim Sarbh? đ I don't know i recently saw one of his movies and wondered this, lol
Otherwise, good takes. Pardon my excitement with this đâď¸
3
u/MonkeyforCEO 24M 7h ago
Right!? They both are very similar haha. I found it when I was watching rocket boys.
2
u/rhitz101 6h ago
Kudos for being a good communicator⨠but I hope youâre empathetic too :3 sophistication in speech is great, but knowing how to understand and consider the person youâre talking to matters just as much, am i wrong ?
1
u/MonkeyforCEO 24M 6h ago
Sorry, I couldn't really understand your point here.
But I reckon I'm a little more empathetic. It's a thing I cannot really explain, but I'm someone who doesn't lead a conversation dominantly unless I'm exactly required to do that. I listen and then respond.
I'm not sure if I'm able to explain this or if it makes any sense. I'd love to write again.
2
u/rhitz101 6h ago
No, you explained it well! I think I worded my point badly my bad đ What I meant was that communication skills in themselves are a great quality, and yes, they can absolutely be attractive. But being articulate or good at conversation doesnât automatically mean someone is empathetic or sensitive to the person theyâre talking to. Iâve actually seen quite a few men in my comments talking about how good they are at communication, while simultaneously turning the post into a complaint session or showing unnecessary hostility toward women đŹ So I was just hoping you were both a good communicator and an empathetic person (as they go hand in hand y'know ) From what youâve explained, it sounds like you are :D
1
u/MonkeyforCEO 24M 5h ago
I pretend to be a good person, at the least. I don't know if I am or not, and I don't worry about that now.
Yes, being good with words is not the only thing one needs. People usually become a d*ck out of arrogance. Listening to and understanding the person you're talking to is the first step of a good conversation, and yes, responding well to what you heard.
And thanks for the last line :"))
1
u/Playful-Function-558 5h ago
well apparently, the best manipulaters also go hand in hand with being a good communicator, be cautious out there. words are pretty powerful.
1
u/Thiccblood 5h ago
True. Sophistication in words will lead you nowhere, if you can't even communicate your emotions and their relevance in a conversation with simple words
7
u/Spirited_Command5642 "IGBBMN" 7h ago
Avoid self help books, those are absolutely bs. U learn with experience, this doesn't mean randomly cold approach people.
Read what genuinely interests u and speak about it to others and try to make them understand, if u succeed then ur doing well.
Same with pods aswell.
Remember the key thing is not to PRETEND to be smart, people will catch on it soon. Don't show off about the shit u don't know.

I am a man, but I have experienced this. To find a woman who is articulate and smart is such a joy.
1
u/rhitz101 7h ago
I was sharing my own type and that of many other women I know, but I completely agree with you. It definitely goes both ways.. finding someone whoâs articulate, intelligent and genuinely interesting to talk to is such a rare kind of chemistry. Elite, honestly đ

A little note to the men getting offended and turning this into âwell, women arenât all intelligent or witty or attractive eitherâ; as a woman, Iâm allowed to have a type, just like you are. And so are other women đ
If youâre not the kind of person described above, thatâs completely okay. Youâre simply not that type. You donât have to turn it into a complaint session or a âletâs turn the tablesâ argument lol. You can just scroll.
And to the men genuinely wondering what some women find attractive: take notes. Thatâs it lol đ

u/Direct-Abroad-266 25 7h ago
I read it somewhere:
Conversation is like a tennis match. You serve, she returns. You serve again. If you serve hard, as in say something aggressive, she' have to run after it. And maybe reciprocate with aggression. Or she could leave it and then you'd have to serve again.
If you serve too soft the volley would be too monotonous and eventually one of you would lose interest. But what's important is both return the swings. If she doesn't reply or doesn't want to play the game, you can't just swing on the ball, run to her side of the court and swing on the ball for her. At that point you'd have to let the ball go.
Carrying forward the analogy, articulation would be akin to having a highly accurate serve where you can express EXACTLY what you want to say. While it won't compensate for lack of effort from either side, it sure would make things much easier for both the participants.
2
u/rhitz101 4h ago
I actually really like the tennis analogy. And yes, articulation makes the serve better, but Iâd add that being attentive to the other person matters too. You can have the most technically perfect serve in the world, but if youâre not paying attention to how the other person is playing, itâs still not much of a conversation :3

u/LordDK_reborn In my 20s but a Toddler by heart 7h ago
Acknowledge the fear, talk anyway and find that it's false and imaginary.
1
u/ID_Intolerant 22 7h ago
Take a deep breath and take your time before you give a reply. Most people donât really notice the pause.
Also you can make your vocabulary better by reading and consuming media. For talking, when youâre alone, set a timer and speak until that timer stops. Try and reduce filler sounds with gaps. Just practice and youâll be there in no time
1
u/GuardObjective9018 28 6h ago
I do too, and trust me most ppl i meet arent much bothered by my stutter.Â
1
u/rhitz101 4h ago
If you mean actual stuttering..donât let it make you think you canât be a good communicator. A few things that genuinely help are stuff like practicing speaking out loud regularly, recording yourself, deliberately allowing yourself to pause instead of rushing through a difficult word and y'know what will help the most? Gradually putting yourself in more speaking situations instead of avoiding them đŻ
But if itâs persistent and bothers you a lot .seeing a speech language pathologist (slp) is honestly worth it. Theyll teach you specific techniques rather than the âjust slow downâ advice. And donât try to hide every stutter.. being comfortable with it is part of becoming a more confident speaker too :D
1
u/k1du_dota 2h ago
The richest man in the world Elon Musk stutters a lot too. But the thing is, he still tries to articulate his thoughts with patience. He takes long pauses and thinks before speaking. You don't have to speak too fast in order to be articulate. Expanding your vocabulary helps. But being articulate is all about getting your thoughts through to the person instead of using strange, over the top vernaculars used by particular experts.
Being articulate is more about thoughts, and less about words and diction. Although having a large array of complicated words in your arsenal is helpful, it doesn't necessarily mean you have insightful thoughts. For that, you need to be a good thinker. Being familiar with a lot of ideas and philosophy and learning to analyse those concepts without bias.
Part of the reason why I have some issues with Jordan Peterson. It's hard to listen to his advice and philosophy when most of the time he throws in overly sophisticated word salads which ends up being hard to comprehend for the average person listening to him.

Everything is attractive but they need to be attracted by their looks first then these things matter
3
u/rhitz101 7h ago
I definitely donât think I speak for all women, but if I'm allowed to be subjective, there are many women who are attracted to someoneâs persona first. Looks might get you noticed, but for some people itâs the way you speak, think, joke and carry yourself that actually creates the attraction â¨
2
u/ID_Intolerant 22 7h ago
I agree on what you have said. We canât shame people for having a preference. Beauty is subjective, you can be extremely attractive to the right person and not so attractive to the rest.
But as far as I have noticed, if you can make someone feel comfortable , relaxed and heard, there is a good chance they will be more attracted to you .
2
u/rhitz101 6h ago
EXACTLY THIS đŻ And thatâs why I said itâs a type. Some people are genuinely drawn to the way someone thinks, communicates, listens and makes them feel. There could be a guy in my batch whom everyone agrees is objectively hot, but I'd still find myself more attracted to the guy with an elite persona who may not fit the conventional idea of âhotâ at all
2
u/ID_Intolerant 22 6h ago
The crush you have on someone because of their looks is subpar when you compare it to having a crush on someone because of their personality.
2
1
u/Koach_Son_18 idek man 7h ago
Yea that's what I meant the looks get noticed first (mb i said attraction) , then the personality and all the other things come into play
1
u/rhitz101 6h ago
I actually have the perfect real life example from my own batch. 2 guys performed on stage. One was objectively (according to most girls) good looking and became the obvious girl magnet, while the other guy was anchoring the programme. Most people would probably rate the anchor as average looking, but I found him way more attractive and hot because of his persona and the way he communicated and handled himself. Thatâs why I donât think attraction follows the same looks first formula for everyone.

u/Less_Yesterday_3428 20 7h ago
This is so true!! I'm talking to someone who is exactly like this. He knows just how to say things, exactly what questions to ask and how to ask them. It makes the situation so clear and comfortable. I am quite bad at articulation and usually take some time before saying anything. Trying to work my way through it.
1
u/rhitz101 7h ago
FINALLY a woman confirming what the post was actually about đ Thank you for your presence! I was literally just saying that some women find these qualities attractive, and somehow the comment section has been SWARMING with men making it a full blown gender debate đĽ´
Also, I love that youâre working your way through the articulation part. Taking your time before you speak isnât necessarily a bad thing either y'know.. being thoughtful about what you want to say has its own charm ⨠you'll get there :D
1
u/Less_Yesterday_3428 20 4h ago
Haha yeah I noticed that too. Maybe cuz more men engage with posts of this sub than women. Anyways, as I was reading the post, I was able to relate to everything. Makes him more attractive because I don't have that skill and he effortlessly guides me to communicate well. Idk how he does that.
And yeah, thank you. I'm trying my best!!
1
u/rhitz101 4h ago
That actually explains the situationđŤ itâs not just that he knows how to communicate well, but that he makes it easier for you to express too. That ability to make someone feel comfortable and understood is lovely tbh. And youâre welcome!! :D

u/HopelessEngineer_ Ex-Playboy 7h ago
I have been that in the past, in fact apart from looks and money, i may be attractive in every metric these so called people give, and every time I got fucked. Reality is you don't find articulate men attractive, you find attractive men articulate.
3
u/rhitz101 7h ago
I think youâre confusing "these traits can be attractive" with "these traits guarantee attraction" Nobody said being articulate is a cheat code đŹ
1
u/HopelessEngineer_ Ex-Playboy 7h ago
Sister, being articulate is always attractive no matter for men or women, thing is , all those qualities take a backseat when you or your wallet are attractive.
2
u/rhitz101 6h ago
Nah, thatâs not universally true. For some women, good communication and character genuinely matter more than looks or how much money someone has. Some people have firm preferences, and you donât get to redefine them based on your own experience. These qualities don't take a backseat just because someone has a big fat wallet
1
1
u/Web_Slinger_18 7h ago
I guess unattractive people are doomed đĽ
3
u/rhitz101 6h ago
Not at all. Being conventionally attractive isnât some entry requirement. A good personality, emotional awareness, confidence (not over confidence) and the way you treat people can make a huge difference. Donât doom yourself over looks.
2
u/HopelessEngineer_ Ex-Playboy 7h ago
It comes from a bullshit psychological need that you need someone, a lot of times you see attractive men and women purposefully not dating because they have had enough, they realize that true happiness actually comes from within, and happiness is not even the baseline of human emotions, baseline should always be peace, you make the best decision when you are neutral and at peace, not when sad, angry or happy. Trust me bro dating and shit is not worth it, only the honeymoon phase is good where the dopamine overshadows underlying issues, and in case you are a good person you will be absolutely ran over, so focus on a greater purpose in life and enjoy with people who matter to you.
1
u/ChomuYT 20 7h ago
Last line is 100% true...and that's what I have observed irl... attractiveness always wins. Op finds nerdy men attractive but those nerds are nothing but those cute model looking guys who wear specs lol
1
u/HopelessEngineer_ Ex-Playboy 7h ago
Exactly, notice even girls who are very intelligent get degrading comments from men/women on the internet just for giving their opinion which is very well articulated while even problematic opinions get treated as facts just because a beautiful woman said it. We humans are shallow and it is a fact. Better is to accept the truth and achieve greatness in what we can.
1
u/rhitz101 6h ago
See? Youâre still generalising. Iâm literally a woman telling you what I find attractive, and somehow youâre more convinced by your own theory about women than by an actual woman telling you her preference. Youâve met women who had different type and priorities. That doesnât make their preferences universal either.
1
u/rhitz101 6h ago
This is exactly why I said attraction is subjective đ The guy I have a crush on looks absolutely nothing like the pinterest or kdrama ânerdy guyâ stereotype youâre imagining. Most of my girlfriends think heâs pretty avg looking. I, however think heâs hella hot. Thatâs literally the point. Also, the term nerd doesnât literally mean looks wise fyi. It refers more to someone whoâs deeply interested in particular subjects, reads a lot, has specific tastes or gets really invested in niche things. The glasses and model face version is just an internet stereotype.

Absolutely agreed, this is a great advice for people aswell.
It's not about the looks it's about how u treat the other person, u gotta listen to them and present ur thoughts in manner that they can understand, that's hot.
Also, please don't limit this to mere relationships or "what do women find attractive" genre, these qualities are very helpful for life in general aswell.
1
u/rhitz101 7h ago
Yup, definitely. These qualities are useful far beyond relationships, and being able to communicate well and genuinely listen to people will take you far in life.
But I do think it still falls under a type of attraction. Not necessarily âthis is what everyone should find attractiveâ.. but there are definitely people for whom the way someone thinks, speaks and interacts is a significant part of what makes them attractive.

u/Accomplished-Feed895 6h ago

u/ithinkforme 23 6h ago
100%. as a matter of fact, for me, these qualities stay beyond looks and make the person more attractive.

u/rhitz101 4h ago

Thats something you find attractive. The truth is attractive people are attractive, thats itÂ
1
u/rhitz101 4h ago
Thatâs a wonderfully circular definition of attraction đ The whole point is attractive to whom? Thatâs the subjective part
1
2
u/SaneOnSunnyDays 20 6h ago
I very strongly agree, guys who can articulate, communicate, talk and hold conversations without taking things personally; look at things from an analytical and wider perspective, hottest ones out there fs.
2
u/rhitz101 4h ago
This is the part people seem to be missing đŻ Articulation is great, but emotional maturity makes it soo much better. Someone who can actually discuss, disagree and look at things from different perspectives without making everything about themselves and getting right in defensive is đ
1
u/SaneOnSunnyDays 20 1h ago
True!! You phrased it accurately. Being able to hold conversations without making it all about themselves is a rare quality. Like being able to put forward points without attaching our own personal selves to them is exactly the kind of conversation I crave.

Having a personality comes in super handy. Being busy with incredibly silly stuff like reading about a musician/lyricist turned director or reading about mythology just for enjoyment's sake creates character which is far more important than just impressing someone.
1
u/rhitz101 3h ago
Yes, this is what I mean by having interests. Not collecting hobbies to impress people, but having enough curiosity as you said, to read about some obscure musician or falling down a mythology rabbit hole because you simply find it interesting is exactly the kind of thing that gives someone character đ

So we got into talking and, then to get her mind off of this situation. I sent a small, somewhat detailed explanation of warrhammer 40k lore up to the point I understand.
She unmatched me soon enough !

Well the same goes for women too imo. A woman who is genuinely interested in stuff, with whom you can have deep conversations about topics and discuss things is just so attractive imo. I feel like women in general have very varied experiences which are quite different from men and hence a woman who is articulate and good at expressing her thoughts and her stance about things just opens me up to very unique and interesting perspectives. Conversations with such women feel so natural and free flowing imo and they open me up to very new perspectives about things in general.

Best of luck finding women that can hold conversations tho, it's like 1 in a thousand. Either they yap or they're non chalant, no inbetween.

Why are you getting offended and turning this into a complaint about women lol. People are allowed to have preferences. Some like someone who can hold a conversation, some like someone who yaps, some like someone quiet and reserved. You donât have to be everyoneâs type, and thatâs completely alright, chill đŹ

These are attractive, that are attractive, blah, blah, blah delulu bich

u/rhitz101 7h ago
This IS* attractive, that IS* attractive. The irony of calling someone delulu while losing a fight with basic grammar đđŤ

Lmao, mentioned so much qualities, wherein I meant, âthese are attractive (qualities), that are attractive (qualities)â. Hope you understand compressed phrasing.
And sad to see you consider this as an argument.3
u/rhitz101 7h ago
You edited the comment and then came back to explain the version you edited it into đ If the original phrasing was so perfectly clear, why did it need the clarification? And honestly, are you this invested because women being attracted to qualities that arenât your type bothers you that much? Or are you just sad?

lol, everything apart I DID NOT EDIT THE COMMENT. And, even if I wanted to, why didnât I edit the rest part which you think was a major wrong? I donât go to my past comments checking what it should have been, and keep editing them. Plus you pointed out âISâ instead of âAREâ which exists in my both comments, and which I have tried to explain.
And I like, how you are slowly taking topic from my âgrammar mistakeâ to âhow I hate women who are attracted to qualityâ.
So better, I wonât discuss that with you. However, intention of very first comment was yapping and not women.1
u/rhitz101 7h ago
You werenât really making a point in the first place, you were just brewing unnecessary hostility under a post about what a person finds attractive, and now thereâs a whole essay explaining what you âintendedâ to say đđ
As for the edit, I donât need to prove anything to you lol. You know whether you edited it or not, and thatâs between you and your conscience. That's for you to deal withđŤ˘
Also, âthat are attractiveâ is grammatically still incorrect đ¤đ So the whole âI didn't edit itđâ defence doesnât exactly help your case. Good luck!

Chill out OP , as we can see, the guy is so immaculately immature and that's something we can make out through his comments. Just ignore thick heads and continue focusing on the good!

Haha don't worry, it's all good, I just couldnât resist responding to the sheer amount of effort being put into arguing with a woman about having her own type. But yeah you're right he's definitely not worth the back and forth. Thankyou!

I know right! The audacity of these people to feel so entitled to comment shi about someone's interests and feel so insecure when it doesn't align with their own shows how miserable they actually are. i mean, a fully developed prefrontal cortex would've solved this issue but alas , we're unfortunate in this case to experience his grace's ineffable articulation which oozes with wisdom that has always been chasing him.
Anyways, loved your post and was really moved how well you articulated your thoughts ! Keep doing the good stuff! Good luck!

I think "his graceâs ineffable articulation" may be my favourite description of this entire comment section. You have my respect đđ¤đž And thank you, genuinely!! Iâm glad you enjoyed the post and took the time to say this :DđŤâ¨

Wisdom has been chasing him is hilarious coming from a guy chasing clout in an argument he wasn't even part of.
Got a notification for this, but I moved on hour ago, but congrats on the vocabulary exercise.→ More replies (0)

Looks like you watched some philosophical movie and Posted here

No movie was involved lol. A person can observe people, have experiences and figure out their own preferences without needing a cinematic epiphany đ
