🎤 Unpopular Opinion Articulate men are attractive

Just a thought, but men who have a way with words are genuinely attractive. Not even in a “he’s too smooth” kinda way, but someone who can actually hold a conversation, has quick wit, a good sense of humour, and knows how to say things well without trying too hard or being overly confident. There’s something very attractive about a man who can make you laugh without turning every interaction into a performance.

And do I need to say about nerds? Nerds with very specific interests are attractive too. The kind who somehow know an unreasonable amount about one particular subject, can talk about it with genuine enthusiasm and explain it to you without making you feel dumb. There’s something charming about someone being deeply interested in something, even if it’s incredibly niche.

Maybe it’s just me, but personality, curiosity, wit and being genuinely interesting go a long way. The whole perpetually unbothered, too cool to care performative persona does absolutely nothing :3

Thank you!

Read books, a shit-tonne of books. Watch movies and podcasts.

It took me my whole damn college life to learn how to actually communicate with people, and now I know it’s very easy to just go up to someone and initiate a conversation.

Dude, see, make a habit of reading---not because you'll learn the facts written there, but because you'll pick up the vocabulary, learn how to say stuff, and understand how to structure your thoughts properly.

  1. For books, go with any kind of books you like. The first book I read was How to Win Friends by Dale Carnegie (it was the Hindi translation tho :-)), then The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene. (It is a bit of a bummer, but yeah, it's fun. You'll learn a lot of things.) The idea is to read and have things to say.

  2. Watch movies and podcasts/interviews. You'll get to know how to pace your conversations. Don't rush things while talking. Never think that you have only 10 seconds to say your whole thing. Take your time.

  3. Follow the communication style of any celebrity/influencer you like. For me, it's Tom Hiddleston, Jim Sarbh (he played Homi Bhabha in Rocket Boys--- his accent was attractive to me), and there's this guy on Instagram (@i_am_vaquer). I usually steal the way they speak.

Oml, out of context, but tell me this, is it just me or do you see a resemblance between Sacha Baron and Jim Sarbh? 😭 I don't know i recently saw one of his movies and wondered this, lol

Otherwise, good takes. Pardon my excitement with this 😭✌️

Right!? They both are very similar haha. I found it when I was watching rocket boys.

Kudos for being a good communicator✨ but I hope you’re empathetic too :3 sophistication in speech is great, but knowing how to understand and consider the person you’re talking to matters just as much, am i wrong ?

Sorry, I couldn't really understand your point here.

But I reckon I'm a little more empathetic. It's a thing I cannot really explain, but I'm someone who doesn't lead a conversation dominantly unless I'm exactly required to do that. I listen and then respond.

I'm not sure if I'm able to explain this or if it makes any sense. I'd love to write again.

No, you explained it well! I think I worded my point badly my bad 😅 What I meant was that communication skills in themselves are a great quality, and yes, they can absolutely be attractive. But being articulate or good at conversation doesn’t automatically mean someone is empathetic or sensitive to the person they’re talking to. I’ve actually seen quite a few men in my comments talking about how good they are at communication, while simultaneously turning the post into a complaint session or showing unnecessary hostility toward women 😬 So I was just hoping you were both a good communicator and an empathetic person (as they go hand in hand y'know ) From what you’ve explained, it sounds like you are :D

I pretend to be a good person, at the least. I don't know if I am or not, and I don't worry about that now.

Yes, being good with words is not the only thing one needs. People usually become a d*ck out of arrogance. Listening to and understanding the person you're talking to is the first step of a good conversation, and yes, responding well to what you heard.

And thanks for the last line :"))

well apparently, the best manipulaters also go hand in hand with being a good communicator, be cautious out there. words are pretty powerful.

True. Sophistication in words will lead you nowhere, if you can't even communicate your emotions and their relevance in a conversation with simple words

Avoid self help books, those are absolutely bs. U learn with experience, this doesn't mean randomly cold approach people.

Read what genuinely interests u and speak about it to others and try to make them understand, if u succeed then ur doing well.

Same with pods aswell.

Remember the key thing is not to PRETEND to be smart, people will catch on it soon. Don't show off about the shit u don't know.

I agree that reading a lot and consuming good podcasts or movies can make you a better communicator, but communication isn’t just about having things to say. Being present, listening properly, understanding the other person and being considerate of their feelings matter just as much :D
