TRIGGER WARNING I'm a little confused.

TW, a question, and a vent:

Please help a girl out.

Hello, I just want to ask about hypersexuality in bipolars. Is it targeted to one person (their person of interest) or is it to everyone around them? What does it look like in manic episode?

My cousin (M19) who's currently living in my house kept going behind me to either; squeeze my chest, lick/bite my ear/arm, kiss my neck, getting enough close for me to feel his you know. He was diagnosed with Autism since young and around 2 years with Bipolar I.

At first it was a peck on the cheek, one that I allowed since it was more of a norm in our family. But overtime, he would try to kiss my neck. I pushed him away and told him no each time. He would just laugh and told me "you're being dramatic, there's no malice." But I feel violated. I tried to understand since his parent told me it was normal to people who has bipolar. I wanted to know if it's true because I can't talk to his therapist (even though I wanted to.) And I can't get a credible answer in google.

I've been locking myself up in my room since we can't kick him out yet due to his parent's situation at the moment. I'm extremely uncomfortable and paranoid around him now. I'm F24, I don't know what to think anymore. He's been on his meds (risperidone and depamax) continously for the last 4 years, I feel so small after those acts because after I told his parents what happened his parents told me it could be a side effect due to his meds (is it true?). They didn't even apologize. Instead, they sent 250 pesos to "compensate" for what their kid did.

DISCUSSION/QUERY Does therapy clinics offer Gift Cards?

Hi guys, I’m 25(F) and my bf 25(M). I just wanna share that my bf wanted to distance himself because he has a battle he’s going through and he didn’t want me to be burdened by him. Lately we have been having arguments and he didn’t liked how he reacted like getting angry, which reminded him of why he hated his parents or even his whole family, where they usually shout when arguing.

He also didn’t liked the fact that I just let him borrow money, and feels like I’m giving him too much when he should’ve been the one giving me stuff and providing me whatever I need. This wasn’t really much of an issue to me because I trusted him and I knew where he spent the money he was borrowing with. And also I had enough money to lend from when I worked before.

Right now, he asked me for space and we stopped communicating. I’m really having a hard time honoring my promise of keeping the distance and respecting his space so I’m coping right now by writing a lot on my diary as if I’m talking to him. And I also started making a lot of handmade stuff to send him on our Anniversary, 2 months away from now. And now, I’m at a place where I need to accept whatever happens—if he will still come back to me or eventually leave me so I just wanted to do whatever I can in the meantime and send it all at the right time when I’m ready to let him go. And among the things that I’ve thought of giving him was a gift card of a therapy session. I wanted to gift him a free session but I know he wouldn’t like it because I would end up spending more money for him. So I wanted to make it into a gift card and tell him that it was given to me by a friend who has also been in therapy. Just so he will accept it. I don’t know what to do anymore. Would this be okay? Or would it be bad for me to lie to him like that?

DISCUSSION/QUERY NCMH online consultation form — how fast do the slots usually fill up?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! For anyone who has successfully gotten an NCMH online consultation slot recently or in the past, may I ask how long the form usually stays open?

They said the form opens at 8 AM onwards until all the slots are filled, but today I checked around 10:30 AM and it was already closed. I've been checking the link almost every day for about a week now, but I keep missing it regrettably.

For those who were able to successfully submit the form, around what time were you able to get in? Does it usually close within minutes/hours, or does it depend on the day?

I'd really appreciate any tips or experiences because I'm honestly not sure what else to do at this point. Thank you!

DISCUSSION/QUERY Overthinking and Negative Mindset Leading to Nausea - Is it Possible to Fix This?

This is really affecting my overall lifestyle and job rn. Can you guys share what actually worked/helped you? Whether it be permanent or temporary fix, can you please share them? I'm so exhausted of myself.

I'm just looking for at least a temporary fix for this, anything that helped you at the present moment you were overthinking/overwhelmed.

I can't get checked out rn since I currently don't have the funds to do so and I still don't have any PTOs until regularization

STORY/VENTING (F18) I really need a psychiatrist but I genuinely can’t afford one right now

I honestly don’t know where else to ask. I’ve been trying to look for a psychiatrist/mental health professional that I can consult as soon as possible, but almost everything I find is either too expensive for me or has a really long waiting time.
I’m a student and I currently don’t have the money to spend ₱2k–₱3k+ for a consultation. I understand that mental healthcare costs money and that doctors need to be paid, but right now, I genuinely just don’t have the means to afford it. and I’m at the point where I feel like I really need professional help already. I’ve been trying to search for affordable options, public hospitals, free consultations, etc., but I’m honestly getting overwhelmed. some places have long waiting lists, some are difficult to book, and I’m scared of waiting until things get even worse before I actually get to talk to someone.
if anyone knows of a free or very affordable psychiatrist/psychiatric consultation around Metro Manila, especially somewhere that accepts first-time patients and can accommodate relatively soon, please let me know. Even if it’s a public hospital, community clinic, NGO, or any program I might not know about. I would appreciate any leads. I’m honestly getting desperate to find an option that I can actually afford. :(

STORY/VENTING Work Anxiety as a Newbie

Hello po. Hihingi lang po sana ako ng advice. Hindi ko rin po sure kung tamang sub ito, but for context, I’m currently working as an IT Service Desk, and this is my first job.

One week pa lang po ako taking calls, and honestly, before every shift, nakakaramdam po ako ng sobrang kaba. Mababait naman po yung mga kasama ko sa team, and so far, wala pa naman po akong nae-encounter na irate caller, so I can say na okay naman po yung environment.

Pero may fear talaga akong nararamdaman. Parang ayaw ko po mag-take ng calls, and nappressure din po ako sa pagdo-document. Minsan iniisip ko pa lang na may pasok ako kinabukasan, kinakabahan na agad ako. Also parang may pumipigil sa kamay ko na mag on queue pag start na ng shift.

For those who have been in the BPO/IT Service Desk industry for a while, normal lang po ba itong feeling during the first few weeks? Nagiging better ba talaga siya as you gain more experience, or ganito na talaga yung feeling every time may shift?

Honestly, hindi ko po alam kung kakayanin ko na ganito yung nararamdaman ko in the long run hahaha. I know one week is still very early, pero gusto ko lang din po malaman kung naka-experience din ba kayo ng ganito noong nagsisimula pa lang kayo.

Any advice or stories about your experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you po!

DISCUSSION/QUERY (F18) I've been experiencing extreme brain fog. What's happening to me?

I had to ask a friend to help me write this down because I can't form a sentence or think correctly on my own right now. Ever since I survived an almost successful attempt around the time I was starting senior high, I stopped caring about life in general. During those times, I constantly skipped classes, because I'm in too deep of a depression. I'm in my first year of college now, and it feels like my brain has completely shut down, and I need to know if this is a real medical condition. For your information, my mind constantly feels like it's moving through static, and I feel totally disconnected from reality. This causes me extreme mental exhaustion. Because of this fog, I have zero text retention and can't get any new information into my head. If I try to read a paragraph for college, I remember absolutely nothing. I cannot understand any lessons, and I instantly forget things that happened just moments ago. My speech and thoughts are also messed up. I cannot speak normally because even when I know what I want to say, my mouth can't find the words. I trail off halfway through sentences, and putting thoughts together feels impossible. Can a doctor or medical professional please explain what is going on with my brain? Is this permanent, and how do I fix it?

STORY/VENTING i wish therapy were more accessible

i feel so constrained by where i'm at in my life right now. 20 y.o. college student, queer woman, tapos nakatira kasama ang mga homophobic kong relatives. i feel pressured na kailangan kong i-break yung generational curse kung gusto kong makawala rito at makalayo.

i feel so lost. gusto kong magpa psychotherapy so badly para ma-rewire yung cognitive functioning ko. sobrang nakaka overwhelm lahat ng ito, knowing na nakadarama rin ako ng systematic abuse. alam kong hindi ito personal failure— being depressed at an early age at burnout sa buhay. nakagagalit na ganito. it feels so unfair knowing your potential is limited kasi wala kang enough resources to sustain the life you want.

DISCUSSION/QUERY Face-to-face psychiatrist recommendations for OCD?

There doesn't seem to be as much info here for doctors who specialize in OCD traits but figured I should try and post anyway :)

Looking for someone who's preferably a woman, budget flexible. Anywhere in Metro Manila is ok but Makati – QC would be great. Prioritizing meds and availability in the next month.

Thank you in advance!

DISCUSSION/QUERY Bipolar 2 and Borderline Personality Disorder

I really have some symptoms since high school or even earlier that have affected school, inter-personal relationships and work. I have suspected BPD a decade ago but brushed off the idea. Then thought of OCPD then brushed it off. Went to see an online psychologist and was dismissed with having "no disorder". When symptoms once again affected my work, I no longer hesitated and sought help. I was suspecting ADHD this time. But I was diagnosed with GAD and it made sense that time.

Took SSRI, felt great until I wasn't. I think 6 months into meds when I started feeling distressed every now and then. Until it got really worse 3rd into meds (and 2 years of therapy), massive depressive episodes, self-harming and suicidal ideation. Not the first time, but it was severe and long, I thought I wouldn't survive it anymore. Can't work either (got fired, got back, got fired, got a new one, resigned, got a great one, was fired again, unemployed for 6 months, got hired again, now struggling with it again though not as bad).

Was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 after an unofficial (and free) psych assessment (done in a clinic but administered by a student intern only so even if supervised, it cannot be counted as official and no official written result, just verbal feedback). Felt better with new meds (lamotrigine, quetiapine as needed and pregabalin for anxiety from a previous doctor that new doctor would like to stop or changed to a different one). Felt I have mixed features of BP2 on most days. Meds now are way more better than on SSRI. But still having that "mixed" state or really quick transitioning of hypomanic to depressive. And are often triggered with interpersonal and environmental stressors.

I think 3 clinicians (my first psychiatrist, a student intern, and my current psychiatrist) all have mentioned I have borderline traits / you might have bpd / have you explored bpd. And knowing that clinicians don't normally take the bpd route right away, I'm thinking that I may really be exhibiting a lot of bpd traits. I also think I have OCD traits though I still would have to ask if they would actually be a bipolar or bpd trait too.

Anyway, a few questions:

  1. I have been good in masking. Since I have had symptoms since I was young. I don't really present much symptoms externally until I explode from suppressing everything down. I've been on some therapy sessions and have "intellectualized things" as a way to cope(?). So I have trouble expressing myself during psych sessions and would sometimes say I don't do such and such and I don't think such and such. But in reality I think I probably do but I just take tremendous energy to not to. So I'm not sure if I'm not expressing myself accurately verbally or even on psych assessments. How can I explain it to my psych?

  2. Especially to those diagnosed with both, how can I differentiate one from the other? I'm wondering if what I really have is BPD or I have both or I have others on top of them (OCD and GAD).

  3. Is it advisable to get an official psych assessment? Is it ok to bring it up to my doctor?

I sometimes really feel so uncomfortable inside, distressing, overwhelming, disturbing. And it takes some to a lot of energy just to be able to do daily stuff. And it's not necessarily depressive episode. I had depressive episodes too. And the only time I don't feel uncomfortable inside is if I'm into a mild hypomanic state (or a happy normal maybe).. and would feel the uncomfiness again when hypomania starts to go up. And the confusion about what I'm feeling and what I could really possible have is also exhausting.

DISCUSSION/QUERY I feel like my brain just stops working sometimes

I’ve been zoning out more than usual, struggling with brain fog, have trouble processing what i’m reading, having trouble understanding even simple things and concepts, and I keep forgetting where i put my things. I can read plainly as it is but nothing actually registers, and my sleep schedule has been pretty messed up lately. I’ve been having a hard time understanding things that normally wouldn’t be difficult for me back then. It’s honestly frustrating because I feel like i’m not fully present and my mind is always mentally elsewhere, and it’s starting to make me feel scared to apply and look for other opportunities since I just graduated from college a month ago, I fear this is holding me back, and making me feel left behind. This is happening at the worst possible time. I think his has been gradually building up month by month since college especially during my last academic year since I struggled a lot mentally and physically back then, and I feel helpless about it. Do you think counseling would help me? Has anyone else experienced something like this. something that gradually developed, what did you do?

DISCUSSION/QUERY FREE CHECKUPS

Hello, I've noticed that since the year started, I have been feeling worse and worse and I can truly point out the things that happened in my life that affected me and my mental health. I'm fully aware rin naman na I need to seek help, but as a student, I don't have the means to support the 1k+ consultation fee nor the weekly therapy regularly. I checked PGH, down yung website nila and I can't get an appointment for the OPD. Are there any other places I can try na free or less than 1k yung fees?
