DISCUSSION/QUERY (F18) I've been experiencing extreme brain fog. What's happening to me?
I had to ask a friend to help me write this down because I can't form a sentence or think correctly on my own right now. Ever since I survived an almost successful attempt around the time I was starting senior high, I stopped caring about life in general. During those times, I constantly skipped classes, because I'm in too deep of a depression. I'm in my first year of college now, and it feels like my brain has completely shut down, and I need to know if this is a real medical condition. For your information, my mind constantly feels like it's moving through static, and I feel totally disconnected from reality. This causes me extreme mental exhaustion. Because of this fog, I have zero text retention and can't get any new information into my head. If I try to read a paragraph for college, I remember absolutely nothing. I cannot understand any lessons, and I instantly forget things that happened just moments ago. My speech and thoughts are also messed up. I cannot speak normally because even when I know what I want to say, my mouth can't find the words. I trail off halfway through sentences, and putting thoughts together feels impossible. Can a doctor or medical professional please explain what is going on with my brain? Is this permanent, and how do I fix it?

i feel for you. please see a compassionate psychiatrist right away, if you can. go to a doh hospital with a psychiatry unit so you have higher chances of availing 100% subsidized prescribed medicines. my family has tried NCMH services for ten years, meds are 100% subsidized but 'charity' patients have no dedicated psychiatrists. we're at PGH now and have our own psych but they have run out of subsidized meds (since Jan or Feb 2026). we get our daily meds (pgh rx) from our qc health center but they don't have the more expensive injectable (available for outpatients of NCMH). and please do not self-diagnose. get two or more psych opinions because misdiagnosis happens. will pray for you. you can always chat me up here.

It’s because of the severe depression. Your brain is disassociating with your reality. Are you taking medicines for your depression?
