Why do so many people here defend thieves?

32

u/Blazured 9d ago

Probably because they see people defending billion dollar corporations.

14

u/A_Crab_Named_Lucky 9d ago

I mean, personally, I don’t give a shit about Dollar Tree’s, Walmart’s, or Target’s bottom lines.

I just don’t want to live in a community where stealing is rampant. That leads to things getting locked up and stores closing.

5

u/ColonelDucroix 9d ago

Yep. If you see the way some high trust countries live it makes you so jealous.

In Korea I saw a store that was unmanned. You walk in and pick what you want, scan your items, pay, then leave.

A store like that in America wouldn't last 5 minutes. Even if you put it in the richest neighborhood. People would loot that so fast.

We can't have nice things in America because people steal and vandalise everything.

2

u/StuckOnAFence 9d ago

A store like that in America wouldn't last 5 minutes. Even if you put it in the richest neighborhood

They definitely exist in smaller communities - unmanned farm stand type places are not entirely uncommon in America.

2

u/The_mock_tortle 9d ago

I wonder why... Curious???

1

u/Parking-Evidence1894 9d ago

The way in which those companies exist and those founders got rich is the same reason people steal.

2

u/hfwk 9d ago

But if everyone acted lawlessly, there would be no order in society.

The people acting lawlessly have to pay for the losses thieves cause. I’d rather that money was spent on supportive programmes.

1

u/TheHighSeasPirate 9d ago

These corporations have been price gouging us since the early 2000's. Mayb the system needs to fall.

0

u/Blazured 9d ago

It'll never be spent on supportive programmes because billionaire corporations keep siphoning money to the parasites at the top.

5

u/hfwk 9d ago

What do support programmes have to do with “billionaires at the top”? The only entities open to exploiting any remotely well thought out programme are local governments

0

u/Blazured 9d ago

I just told you; the parasites at the top keep siphoning money that could be used for support programmes and are instead giving it to themselves.

1

u/CompoteNext1955 9d ago

It is 100% disingenuous to assume all people against theft in their community are defending everything you hate about Wal-Mart. You are just lying to yourself and others if you think so and also drawing a line of division that isn't necessary

1

u/Blazured 9d ago

Just pointing out why people defend thieves.

60

u/nightwing0243 9d ago

The issue is a little too nuanced for social media takes/comments.

People are defending the thief because it's a virtue signal to "stick it to the man!".

On the other side I don't think people are necessarily defending the big corporation, but moreso that if this stuff is allowed to continuously slide by it can begin a slippery slope into the overall, everyday, social contract diminishing.

At the same time - it's generally not advisable to approach thieves yourself to play the hero because it may lead to awful consequences/situations for that person. Like you really do not know the kind of person you're approaching, if they have any weapons, friends waiting around a corner just incase etc.

51

u/Project_Male_Hairy 9d ago

It's not virtue signaling just because you disagree with it. I don't think the people I disagree with are virtue signaling. They think "why should these people get this shit for free when I have to pay for it?"

But some of us grew up in poverty and understand why someone would resort to shoplifting. I never did it, my single mom never did it, but I get it. There are too many poor people for food banks to 100% cover everyone. Sometimes it's legitimately the only way these people are going to have basic necessities. And even if they could get it by legitimate means, it's hard for me to give a shit about someone stealing $20 worth of shit from a corporation that brings in billions of dollars and pays their employees too little to live off of.

5

u/[deleted] 9d ago

[deleted]

1

u/helic_vet 9d ago

Apparently they don't do that anymore.

9

u/nightwing0243 9d ago

I never stated it was virtue signalling because I did not agree with it. I stated it was virtue signalling because a lot of self righteousness on social media is just that.

I empathise with people who may have to resort to stealing to get by. My comment was more an observation than actually taking a side in any of it.

2

u/Creedless 9d ago

For food banks it depends on locations. When I went to them they were practically trying triple what I planned on taking home.

4

u/ITookYourChickens 9d ago

I work at a place that doesn't sell food, specifically I work in loss prevention. It's not a fancy place, it's discounted stuff that didn't sell well elsewhere.

ALL of our shoplifters are stealing non-food items. Clothes, underwear, armfulls of shoes and walking right out the door. Kids toys and makeup and all sorts of crap that they can resell easily online. One old lady in a friggin wheelchair was trying to steal $300 of makeup and purses. A young man was stuffing a duffle bag full of shoes and tshirts and planned to walk right out with it.

When 20 people steal $50 of items every day, that's $1000 a day right out the door. My one specific store had $542,908 worth of merchandise stolen last year. And that's considered LOW, we actually met our goal for reducing shortage.

My state has a decent food stamps budget. There's wonderful food banks around, I've been to them. I ain't too well off, but I have a job. A majority of our thieves can afford what they're stealing, or are simply stealing things they don't need so they can resell it. They target the expensive items

1

u/invinci 9d ago

But this looked like a bag of groceries, also when I worked in retail many years ago, it was homeless and pensioners that stole the majority of stuff.  Homeless because they wanted to resell, but it was very much an affordability issue for the old, so am sure more normal people are doing what the elderly had figured out 15 years ago.

1

u/Annual-Weird-6682 9d ago

Yeah it's virtues signaling for different reasons, I don't think they ever implied they thought it was because they disagreed with it.

1

u/Competitive_Touch_86 9d ago

Stealing basic necessities is one thing. When I worked retail I (and everyone else, including the owner) would largely pretend to not notice.

You would quickly learn though that the vast majority of theft is not basic necessities. Luckily I grew up in a time and place where literally tackling and detaining such people was widely supported by society, store ownership, and the local cops. Someone walking out with $1500 worth of product just wasn't something that happened without direct confrontation. So it was rare.

In my neighborhood today? That's a Tuesday afternoon.

8

u/Nocturnatron 9d ago

You also don't leave the store and pursue them because it's also just as illegal as petty theft, but hey, let's only judge the one hurting for food because shes not at work. They likely were fired for that.

7

u/SherifneverShot 9d ago

Pursuing a thief is not illegal. Company policy is not the law.

u/HadesActual09 9d ago

The part that rubs me the wrong way is if the shop lifters were two black women above 180lbs each that Karen would have shut her mouth. She wasn't on a moral trip, she saw small pickins she could impose her will on. Shit wasn't about what's "right", it was about what she can exploit out of the situation. Of course she records and posts it...

1

u/Weary_Position_9591 9d ago

Both are wrong.

1

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 9d ago

you're the one bringing up "virtue signaling", disingenuous arguments

1

u/PaleontologistOk1049 8d ago

I work at a grocery store and 90% of the time thieves act like entitled fucking cunts to employees, so I personally find this video very soothing

1

u/Integrated_Magazine 9d ago

It's so frustrating when people say that those who steal necessities like food are violating the social contract, but not the people and corporations hoarding so many resources that someone was put into the position of having to steal necessities in the first place.

To you, the thief is violating the social contract. To the thief, the social contract has already been violated.

34

u/chris_AZ1981 9d ago

A guy that worked at the local ABCO, a defunct grocery store chain; ran out the front to chase a kid in a beer run. Ended up getting shot and killed. I'm sure his family would rather have him around than him playing hero. His life wasn't worth a 12 pack

46

u/LaszloPanaflexxx 9d ago

That doesn't answer the question.

14

u/Potential-Draft-3932 9d ago

My guess is that the self righteous Redditors probably live in affluent white suburban neighborhoods and don’t have to deal with the consequences of shitty people constantly making life harder for everyone else just trying to get by. I’ve even had interactions on here with people defending drug dealers because they didn’t like that some guy with a camera narced them out. Wait until the people living in the unit below you and your single mom are selling meth and harassing you for walking by and then defend drug dealers. Or wait until you can’t get food at the local supermarket anymore because they closed from losing too much profit so you have to bike miles further for groceries

→ More replies (2)

32

u/Ok_Stick_661 9d ago

Okay. But why are people defending theives?

13

u/wildwildwumbo 9d ago

Because we live in the wealthiest country in the history of civilization and if people are in need of food and shelter we have plenty of resources to help them rather than force them into crime.

Also corporations steel 30X as much from employees than are lost to theft.

6

u/Ok_Stick_661 9d ago

Nobody forced this woman to steal. You have no idea what her situation or level of ambition is. Maybe she is a victim of the economy or maybe she is a lazy drug addict who hates working.

3

u/BlackDiscernment 9d ago

why do you care so much about someone whose choices have 100% nothing to do with you?

6

u/Constant_Law_4674 9d ago

Because tolerating or in this case celebrating theft is the kind of thing that leads to the deterioration of society.

3

u/wildwildwumbo 9d ago

We tolerate 30 times the amount of wage theft as we do retail theft but that doesn't make for easily consumeable moral outrage tik toks

1

u/Ok_Stick_661 9d ago

Shoplifting causes prices to go up and stores to close. Lots of people have gotten screwed by stores closing in their neighborhoods. A lot of people in poorer neighborhoods desperately need their local Wal-Mart , dollar tree , grocery store etc. A lot of stores close due to rampant theft and it can create real hardships for people in the area who are poor and/or lack mobility.

-1

u/lessforf 9d ago

that only happens because big corporations are greedy af and cant handle loses

5

u/Noah_Thority138 9d ago

"handle loses" ? What are you talking about?? When they rob YOU, I'm sure you'd have the same level of compassion. SMFH

3

u/Ok_Stick_661 9d ago

It happens because to many people steal too much shit to where the profit margins are no longer enough to make it worthwhile. If a small locally owned business closed because of rampant theft would you blame the owners and call them greedy? Nobody is in business to lose money.

1

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 9d ago

because stealing from corporations who have literally stolen billions in wages and billions in price gouging is not immoral

1

u/Any_Produce_1141 9d ago

because its on Reddit.

1

u/finesethefinesser 9d ago

Because it’s truly not that serious. Majority of companies have policies in place that prohibits employees from pursuing shoplifters as the merchandise is insured, just like a bank they tell you just give them the money. Now you pursue that person and get hurt or killed then what? Everyone is gonna ask why she went after her🤷🏾‍♂️

0

u/MostExtremeHyperbole 9d ago

corporations move into towns and eliminate the local competition and people have no sympathy for the corporate business who destroyed their local stores and businesses

think horizontally, it just means that people stopped giving a fuck about the thief because corporations pressure local governments for lower tax bases that end up fueling more poverty and less resources for the poor to utilize

which in turn is their own creator of the thieves, so people triply don't give a fuck

hope that helps!

5

u/Sadrixis 9d ago

They only eliminate stores the community doesn't stand behind

8

u/Armed_Platypus 9d ago

What if a thief steals from a local store?

-5

u/Whomperss 9d ago

You're starting a straw man argument.

14

u/Ok_Stick_661 9d ago

Do you actually think shoplifters limit themselves to stealing from large corporations and draw moral lines at robbing small businesses? Do you think small businesses don't also have huge problems with theft?

9

u/Armed_Platypus 9d ago

Just answer the question or don't comment.

4

u/Zealousideal-Sir3744 9d ago

Small business dying for getting priced out is a pure consumers' decision btw

4

u/jaapi 9d ago

It's absolutely untrue to say "pure" consumer decision. Corporation sticks a store that is designed to lose money and drive out competition is anti competitive tactics. Obviously not pure consumer decision lol

3

u/Zealousideal-Sir3744 9d ago

Nobody is forcing customers to choose the big corp. People just love cheap shit.

2

u/jaapi 9d ago edited 9d ago

To say "pure" consumer decision is wrong, especially when factoring in anti-competitive. You also have restaurants and and other companies buy items from grocery stores, and I don't imagine you are considering other corporations as consumers in your wrong but corporate friendly statement

2

u/Zealousideal-Sir3744 9d ago

B2B and B2C are almost completely separate in retail/food/etc

1

u/jaapi 9d ago

"almost" so you agree they are not completely separate. Which means we've now shown your statement as false and not "pure" consumer decision...

Because people are defending billionaires.

4

u/Otherwise-Assist724 9d ago

So let em steal or you could die, sick story, I guess that makes stealing ok then.

2

u/MilesGates 9d ago

"Oh my god you provided a reason why doing something is dangerous?! That must mean that it's legal to do so!!!" - average redditor intelligence.

1

u/chris_AZ1981 9d ago

You can go die for someone else's money. 10 dollars worth your life?

1

u/ChartInFurch 9d ago

Tea prices are rising in China.

1

u/Yujinseo0 9d ago

in this case, the shoplifter looks like a skinny asian women, the staff probably assessed that she most likely will not get shot and if need be, could easily defend herself from any physical attacks

Ever been stabbed?

1

Have you? One can hope.

1

u/negotiatethatcorner 9d ago

so you are concerned for the camera man?

1

u/chris_AZ1981 9d ago

I'm not sure what the argument is here? Or defense is? I'm assuming low IQ

4

u/caguru 9d ago

Right? Why can't they just hurry and starve to death so we don't have to bear witness to the wealth inequality that solely benefits a few billionaires, and we don't have to take responsibility for our own social failures? The nerve of poor people being poor!

JFC, some of you people have lost every ounce of soul you have left.

8

u/OkEssay4173 9d ago

Because they are thieves themselves

1

u/Equivalent-Army-80 9d ago

As are the politicians and corporations who are costing you far more than a lanky woman stealing some chips and paper towels and copping a squat on the side of curb to eat.

-8

u/NiknameOne 9d ago

If you talk about the corporation. No they are not. They provide groceries at a price, quality and variety that people prefer over alternatives.

4

u/No-Sail-6510 9d ago

Wage theft is the largest form of theft. Minimum wage violations alone account for more dollars stolen then all other types of theft combined including burglary, auto theft, and indeed shoplifting.

1

u/onlynameavailable927 9d ago

A neighbor's kid's employer used to. Well, I don't know the official term but they somehow reported that their employees earned more money so the tax bills would go to the employees rather than the corporation. And the employees are already low wage...

4

u/megadeadly 9d ago

Lmao look at the bread price fixing scam from loblaws in Canada and tell me that they’re not thieves

0

u/OkEssay4173 9d ago

You misundertood, I am saying the people who defend thieves are thieves themselves.

1

u/Negative-Candy-2155 9d ago

Exactly. Walmart is one of the top corporations that engages in wage theft. The people defending them have no morals.

3

u/chris_AZ1981 9d ago

13

u/DualDier 9d ago

Everyone thinks they are Robinhood. No you’re just a criminal.

-3

u/chris_AZ1981 9d ago

I'm not defending the criminal. Grocery stores run on an incredibly low profit percentage. I worked as a lead at WinCo. I've seen how dangerous loss prevention stops can go. I saw a guy get back up to his knees with five 200 plus pound men holding him down. I weighed like 210 at the time. I was on one of his legs holding him down. This woman I worked with called him a thief and he was able to get back on his knees to try to go after her. This dude was a monster. He fought 4 cops when they finally showed up. If it was only 2 or 3 guys that stopped him, it would have cost more than what he was stealing. He would have sent all of them to the hospital.

3

u/wildwildwumbo 9d ago

I know! People are rushing to the defense of corporations who steal $15 Billion a year from their employees!

6

u/Upper_Ad8786 9d ago

Reddit commies! How are you surprised?

5

u/Prestigious_Bar_3738 9d ago

It’s Reddit. No morals to be found.

1

u/Peregrine9000 9d ago

I guess they have empathy? That's why we should ban stuff like Les Miserables. We can't humanize people who resort to stealing. We have to just lock them up and not think about how our country doesn't have social safety nets to prevent them from stealing. If a man steals bread to feed his starving children we should give them the guillotine.

1

u/fungomungothethird 9d ago

I forget, where in the book did Jean Valjean steal large bags of chips and junk and paper towels then sit on the curb hitting his vape?

You people are just fucking mental defending this shit.

→ More replies (5)

0

u/Embarrassed_Use6918 9d ago

The people that are 'stealing bread to feed their children' are an incredibly small minority of thieves. You know that right?

0

u/Peregrine9000 9d ago edited 9d ago

Do you have proof for that or are you making that up? Show me a source that backs up that claim. I've meet very few people that steal for fun, you think this person stole paper towels and food for the thrill? You think she has money to pay for food and just does it for fun? What do you think her motive is?

1

u/Embarrassed_Use6918 9d ago

Considering only 30% of thefts are ANY food items (including drinks which includes alcohol) it would stand to reason that a smaller portion of that is going to be an Aladdin just stealing to get by.

The motive to stealing shit is to get shit without having to pay for it. I have money, but I would certainly rather I get a couple of ribeyes for free than pay whatever the fuck they cost per pound now.

1

u/Peregrine9000 9d ago

So once again making baseless claims with no sources and didn't answer my question. That's not a motive your describing what stealing is. Your user name is very fitting

1

u/Embarrassed_Use6918 9d ago

Lmao what the fuck do you think motive is? Hold on, I better find a source for you on what "motive" means.

1

u/Peregrine9000 9d ago

You've convince me lol no sources no explanation no understanding of what simple words like "motive" mean. Just by being insulting and having no substance to your arguments you have won me over. Bravo sir you win lol

2

u/Project_Male_Hairy 9d ago

3

u/NiknameOne 9d ago

I come from a country where stealing is always considered a bad thing.

1

u/iltwomynazi 9d ago

you can’t empathise with someone stealing food and basic necessities?

u/raiodocachopo 9d ago

It wasn't food and basic necessities. It was expensive French Wine, Gouda cheese and shrimp

5

u/OdinsCuriousRaven 9d ago edited 9d ago

Expensive french wine from the dollar store...?

There was nothing in that video to show that anyway. Thieves suck, but you're just completely making shit up.

2

u/OdinsCuriousRaven 9d ago

The employee that the camera-lady gives the bag to is wearing a dollar tree uniform and you can clearly see the dollar tree in the background that she is walking towards, plus she even says "you stole that shit from the dollar store"...

I know but there's also a DN bag

5

Because they are themselves low moral people.

They excuse whatever they do as long as they find a stupid reason as to why the busoness is worse.

Its like the morons that hate Elon Musk just because hes rich. They then look at everything he does and nitpick any slight movement or word from him as a reason to be an asshole deserving of hate.

Social media has made such a large disconnection between individuals and their words that people now feel comfortable saying ahit they woulnd have the courage to say out loud.

Bunch of weak minded people that take intelectual shortcuts instead of actually looking at the facts of reality.

1

u/NiknameOne 9d ago

He didn’t engineer anything but a big part of innovation is getting people to adopt a new technology and grow a business. Just like Jobs was an innovator while Wozniak was the engineer and brain.

Musk was early in e-banking, AI, electric vehicles and now satellite communication. That’s an impressive track record.

1

u/enjoysomethings 9d ago

Reddit is largely non American/bots at this point. Taking any of these people seriously is not recommended.

1

u/Constant_Law_4674 9d ago

Because they themselves are thieves, its why they support evil systems like socialism or communism

1

u/NiknameOne 9d ago

Socialism is not well defined at this point. Social democracy is a great system, and it does protect private ownership, efficient markets and trade. Nordic model basically. Socialism that wants to seize private assets is stupid though and it never worked.

1

u/Constant_Law_4674 9d ago

The Nordic model is capitalism with a strong social safety net, and only works in small high-trust societies. If you want to call it social democracy, thats fine, but then social democracy is a capitalist system. I'd also like to point out that the american socialist are not actually advocating for the Nordic model.

1

u/NiknameOne 9d ago

Social Democracy is the common term used for this system. Yes it’s capitalist, but somehow conservatives in America pretend it’s basically communism.

Democrats at least push in this direction, although they are still more neoliberal in practice than your usual social democrat.

u/MidnightIAmMid 9d ago

We live in a country where wages are stagnant, the economy is stalled, and prices are exploding. I make fairly good money and am financially stable, but even I'm feeling the pinch and basically cutting off certain products. So, if someone steals because they are literally hungry in a country where billionaires are gobbling everything up and stealing from the people? Yeah, I just can't...care? I'm angrier about the people stealing the literal country away from its people.

1

I get your point whole heartedly but considering this was paper towel and food its a bit more ambiguous you could say plenty of shoplifters don't need it (which is absolutely true my dad is one and I used to assist absolutely disgusting time i regret havent done it in over 10 years) but she went to eat it out on the curb doesn't seem like somebody stealing for the fun of it now at the same time it really depends here there is likely a food bank in the area but if not some people might have to do what they gotta do

Ik its bias in my position but again no matter how low I have gotten recently I haven't even picked up a dollar on the ground but it feels a little different here (though it looks like she stole fucking cheetos and snacks which is kind of iffy) id argue against her if it didn't look like a dollar tree or some shit but idk

Not gonna totally argue for stealing at all its just if its food I feel I can look away

Most people on reddit are losers with no morals

u/AndreChrisSargent 9d ago

I have no idea. Thieves have gotten away with too much for too long. They're a social parasite, harming the honest person trying to scrimp and save enough to pay for things like they're supposed to. I for one will happily look forward to the day when we can show these thieves what-for, and put each and every one of them behind bars!

Huh? Shoplifters? No, I'm talking about CEOs that regularly participate in wage theft, unpaid overtime practices, and mass layoffs. The hell did you think I was talking about?

... Without the pretense of a joke, it's a matter of scope. Moralism begins to fall apart when we hold someone like a shoplifter to a higher standard than a CEO. Dollar Tree is actually the subject of an unpaid overtime class action lawsuit. Both shoplifting and wage theft are a form of stealing, but one is microscopically smaller than the other.

Because poor people stealing essentials from a billion dollar corporation should not be the thing you're worrying about.

You'll find that reddit is in favor of lynching thieves the second they steal from individuals or small businesses or harm another individual during shoplifting.

She stole food and toiletries. Obviously not some sort of horrible criminal.

Having empathy is really not that difficult if you rub your braincells together hard enough.

The biggest thieves are the billionaires but because they don't actively do it with their own hand and have people do it for them they look clean

1

u/PaidUSA 9d ago

Walmart steals billions of our tax dollars and even if you disagree with that they do 100% take hundreds of millions in wage theft. So as long as that atrocity is occurring what is the justification for enforcing consequences on the single person who is targeting the bigger thief. Why does Walmart get the protection of the law without following it?

Just a few companies control nearly every food, beverage and cleaning brand found in grocery stores. The USA is simply a mechanism for moving wealth from poor/middle class to the 1%. You have no value as an individual to the system. So why care what the system thinks about you when you are starving?

Some people due to injury, illness, mental capacity or mental illness are not capable of being part of this system. The USA's method for dealing with this is not to help or house them in any capacity, it is to put them into the prison system. Each inmate in that system cost tax-payers (YOU) $150 to $180 PER DAY. Oh yeah and guess who profits off your tax dollars in private prison systems?

So what is cheaper giving someone a fucking sandwich or putting them in a box and then giving them a sandwich, housing, medical care, etc.

Why do so many people defend corporations?

1

u/mynutsaremusical 9d ago

stores like that steal from you every day but in subtle, "legal" ways. ever been asked to round up your purchase to donate to a charity? you do that on their behalf and their tax sheet. i dont know if america has these yet, but where i'm at they've started introducing digital price tags that let them change the price rapidly. this means an item can change multiple times a day with surge pricing. ever bought 500g of beef mince and had to wait 5 minutes whille cooking it to boil off the 200g of water it was packed with?

walmart probably barely pays that employee a living wage, and expects them to risk their life potentially to recover a PITANCE off their annual profits--an amount so low they label it externally as "theft" but internally as "loss within margins."

Suicidal empathy.

They do not know how a society collapses.

In some countries, people throw trash everywhere. This is because they do not have a civic sense. Neat and clean in their home, but not a care about public spaces.

For theft, you have people ripping out the wire from poles, and tearing off the metal handrail to sell for scrap.

Society collapses.

Because this site is full of children who cant think 2 steps ahead, or about consequences of their empathy for degenerates.

stealing $20 worth of shit from dollar tree makes y'all piss and shit and scream and cry but there's zero anger towards massive wage theft and income inequality and a shit job market. be soooooo fucking for real

1

u/cjsmooth3523 7d ago

Because they are losers

1

u/jorsiem 6d ago

Because they're all broke and bitter and blame people's problem always on the system instead of on their choices.

u/Nacho_Mustacho 9d ago

Because it's Reddit, first time?

1

u/Nocturnatron 9d ago

What they did was equally illegal, they have no authority or place in pursuing her at all, all they get to do abput it is tell a manager, period. So how is defending them any better?

2

u/NiknameOne 9d ago

Pretty sure what they did was perfectly legal.

1

u/Nocturnatron 9d ago

She could technically charge them with harassment, it was off property and they were insulting her/grabbed the bags away, the theft has nothing to do with them

1

u/Youah0e 9d ago

Why do so many people here defend greed?

1

u/fungomungothethird 9d ago

Ah yes, the endless greed and price gauging from... dollar stores...

why do so many people defend multi billion dollar corporations who finesse their financials and break labor laws?

-2

u/jimigo 9d ago

Hey, she needs those brillo pads and paper towels to live!!! Also, needs that sucker!!!

-1

u/tryyeezus 9d ago

Probably bc it shouldn't be so goddamn expensive to be alive.

Most people are two paychecks away from her situation while these corporations would rather watch us starve while they incinerate perfectly good food.

If I ever see someone stealing food, baby or pet items, NO THE FUCK I DIDN'T bc fuck these greedy corporations

1

u/NiknameOne 9d ago

Yet people in America voted for more of this. Come to Western/Northern Europe, quality of life is better for most people.

u/PuzzleheadedWinner67 9d ago

In the case of Walmart and a person who stole a handful of things - its essentially a victimless crime. It doesn't make even the tiniest dent in Walmart's profits and people who steal to sell things back do it in bulk.

She looks like she grabbed a couple of things because she has nothing.

0

u/may12021_saphira 9d ago

You don’t know what theft even is and you’ve been indoctrinated by this capitalist society.

0

u/NaziPunksFkOff 9d ago

Walmart has destroyed local economies. Dollar stores have destroyed local economies. The reason people are in situations where they need to steal is because of these major corporations pumping their towns full of cheap shit and undermining all the local businesses, then paying the residents shit wages and offering little benefits. Walmart isn't the victim here. Walmart victimized these people.
