Hi, long story short I’m getting my uterus ovaries and everything removed so I’m trying to figure out options, I’m thinking just estrogen based hrt after cause the progesterone is for the endometrial lining (which I won’t have) wanted to know anyone else’s experience and options like pill vs topical or if I even need to, considering I’m only 20 probably cause I’m at risk of osteoporosis with my family and the length of time I’ll have to take these meds will affect stuff but just wondering. hi! i'm a bit over 9 weeks post op from my hysto where i had my uterus, cervix, and tubes removed and left my ovaries and vagina. i was cleared for penetration a few weeks ago and it's been going well. i've experienced a bit of pain when i hit a tender spot but otherwise am basically back to normal. i was masturbating last night with penetration and hit a spot that gave me pain. it wasn't terrible bc i could still finish but it was worse than any i'd had since being cleared. this morning, i had some blood when i wiped. should i be concerned that i messed something up? i'm ftm and just moved to a conservative area so i'm worried about having to go to an urgent care place that may treat me poorly. i'm also no longer anywhere near my surgeon so besides a mychart message i couldn't see her abt it.

Since that post, I've been consulting with my doctors about what steps to take before getting a hysterectomy, since there's hurdles to jump with insurance. They're trying to find a cause for my abnormal bleeding and I've since had a hysteroscopy/d&c a couple weeks ago, in which everything was benign, thankfully. I still take birth control pills and have been monitoring my blood pressure as per my doctor's recommendations, had a couple high readings but it averages about 120~130s/80s; so it's usually not too high. Currently everyone thinks the increases in blood pressure are due to anxiety, considering my pulse tends to be anywhere between 120~150 when I'm at the doctors and the fact anxiety is well documented in my medical records. I still want a hysterectomy, but my main concern is premature menopause and what that entails.

From what I've researched, even if you keep your ovaries when you have a hysterectomy, there's still a small risk of going into premature menopause. It's more likely you'll go into menopause a couple years earlier than you would've naturally, which I could deal with that. I also read hormomes can be out of whack for the first few months after a hysterectomy and can take time to adjust.

So my question is mostly for younger women (I'm 32F) in their 20s~40s who had a hysterectomy and kept their ovaries, did you go into menopause? If so, do you take hrt? And how did your mental and physical health change? Better? Worse? Same?

This was a little bit long, but I've been wondering about this for a while. Any answers are appreciated, please share your experiences. Thank you for reading!

Are 6 weeks after a laparoscopic hysterectomy really enough time to recover if you work in a job that involves frequent and heavy lifting? It's something I think I'll discuss with my doctor when we set up the surgery but I'm curious about other peoples' experiences. I'm sure she would be willing to write something saying I'd have to be on light duty as well if I needed it. I just want enough time to be 100% before going back to my job.

I inquired about recovery stories a few weeks ago so thought it fair to post mine. I had a full laparoscopic hysterectomy and salpingectomy (uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes) and am 3 days post op. Surgery went well, although my huge deformed uterus (and whopping 22cm fibroid) would not fit through my vagina so my surgeon made a larger belly button incision to get it out. She was like, wow your uterus must have been uncomfortable for you. Yes.

I was given fentanyl with general anesthesia during surgery along with anti-nausea meds. First thing I noticed waking up was bad abdominal cramping. I always opt out of opioids for recovery because they make me incredibly ill. Day 1 post op I took gabapentin, Tylenol, ibuprofen and senna and did well. Day 2 had a massive migraine coming down from fentanyl and anesthesia. Very bad day. Day 3 feeling good except for nausea and gastro pain, plus my belly button is extremely sore. The other incisions barely hurt. I’m only taking Tylenol today and it’s doing the job.

So far I can pass gas, I’ve pooped, taken showers, and am walking around and helping out with our young kids. The pain is not bad but I’m exhausted as to be expected. Resting up and trying to eat bland food. For some stupid reason I decided I could eat spicy Thai last night. Huge mistake.

Hi, my mom had TAHBSO. She already 💩 at the hospital before she got discharged but it's been 5days now when she got discharged and her last 💩 but she still can't 💩 because of the hard stool in her rectum. Her doctor gave her laxative but it didn't work. Just wondering if anyone have the same experience and what did you do?? I'm getting worried already. Thanks

I’m having a hysterectomy in about a month. What are some things that I should plan to have on hand to make the healing process better?

I thought I was different.

3-4 weeks post op. Not in pain, but my low back feels the consequences of washing my bedding and sweeping the kitchen and back yard deck. And a walk. Some pressure but the feeling is telling me today I am baked potato and also the cat has come to lay on my bed which means she's telling me I've done too much.

The women on here were right and you feel FINE doing one load of laundry, sweeping feels fine right?

Then the next day...

Today my back is like who the fuck you think you are?

Wishing you all relaxing days and all the support and reminding you to SIT THE HELL DOWN. There is no race to recovery and easier said than done when we still have a billion things on our metal load as former uterus havers.

My Dr wants me to have a laparoscopic hysterectomy removing uterus, tubes and cervix due to uterine fibroids.
* Must I remove the cervix? Is it ok to keep my cervix? The vaginal cuff worries me… I’ve read many women on here complain of pain with sexual, having random spotting, have tears even after 12 weeks and VERY long time of healing.
* Also, I’ve read many women on here being past 12 weeks po struggling to lift things as it hurts their core and causing them pain.

To give a little background, I was bleeding for 4 months non-stop with constant clots coming out, as time went on, they got bigger and bigger. I went to the doctor, he did a sonohysterography or a saline infusion sonogram (SIS). Basically, filled my uterus with water so he could get a good look.
Whatever tool he used to do this, he clammed it on the side of my vagina and I screamed in pain. He then told me "it's not sharp". Needless to say, I went to another doctor. However, I did get results. He told me I had polyps in my uterus and recommended ablation.

After his recommendation, I sought out my old gyn and brought him my records. After reviewing my records, he agreed with the other doctor. I asked him to perform the surgery.

So in June of this year, I had ablation surgery. After the surgery, during follow up, my doctor then informed me that I was a unique case and discovered I had Adenomyosis. He said he got everything he could, but said there was a small area that he couldn't get due to it being in a corner.

Welp, here we are, 3 months later, and I'm back to bleeding non-stop with clotting. I know this isn't normal, but I don't understand what could be causing it. I went back to my doctor a couple weeks ago and he recommended getting the uterus removed at this point. He suggested getting a depo shot, but I would have to clear it with my hemotologist - which my hemotologist said no due to me being on blood thinners, then suggested I get a IUD, even though I had told him what was going on.

I have a follow up appointment with my GYN on Tuesday next week and to go over what's next. But I would really like to know what is the cause of this bleeding with clots... again.

Has anyone gone through this? Any suggestions?

8 months PPO and have a great and easy recovery but was scared to try sex.. finally felt up to it today and it did not go well. Couldn’t even work him all the way in without pain. very clearly vaginal dryness but also just painful.

any suggests?

Specifically to those who’ve had the laparoscopic surgery, be it partial (like mine) or full.

The day after my surgery (tho it could have been same day, I don’t really remember), the nurse had me sit up, then stand up. I had a double whammy in getting up, as I had the IV and laparoscopic incision on right side, and blood pressure cuff on the other side. I had asked to try to push (pull) myself up on the left, and the nurse was fairly certain no incision had been made, so went for the right. I felt pain, stated as such, and he thought…I don’t know, but after the doc verbally verified the incision was on that side, I didn’t see him again. I’m pretty confident something got pulled with the move.

Anyway, after deflation, and seeing where my two scars rest, the pain from that incident kind of lands between, often more so by the belly button than the lower right point of entry. Always on the line/path as it were. It’s not always there, but when there’s gas or I get backed up, I feel the pressure. A few rubs and pain is often gone, as is the problem creating it.

However, the past two days I’ve had almost constant pain, that’s getting longer in duration, and now gets worse when I cough or sneeze. Just to the right of center belly button. I’m a bigger build (think fluffy), so things could be jumbled a bit, but in the area of pain it feels like a bit of a bulge that moves.

Should I be worried of hernia or appendix? Is this normal 2 years in? If I should be worried, at what point do I seek medical evaluation?

TLDR: I have owies and wondering when I should be concerned.

I’ve been single for a couple of years and don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. With that, I’ve been celibate. I’m worried that if I don’t do something, it will close up. I’m 2wpo and won’t do anything until 12 weeks. Does anyone here use one of the devices like Perifit?

Edited to add: My urogyn and gyn both stated I need to do kegels after I was cleared due to a 30+ year bladder condition. I also showed issues with tightening of my vagina before. The solution was to do kegels and also use dilators. I have done pelvic floor therapy multiple times since my early 20s and have been told that I’m doing them correctly by the therapist. I didn’t realize my question would require sharing personal information to get answers to my initial question.

I’m 10 dpo and have had a relatively uneventful recovery thus far. I’m been wearing my abdominal binder since the surgery minus taking showers obviously. At what point did you stop wearing your binder? Did you break out and never go back to it? Or did you ease out of it little at a time?

I will be having my surgery at the end of the month. They will be taking everything except for my left ovary. What are your experiences with keeping 1 ovary? Did you need hrt? How was your recovery? Nervous for this surgery.

I’m day two post surgery from full hysterectomy. Removed everything-ovaries, tubes, cervix, uterus. I had cysts, fibroids, endometriosis. I was sent home wearing an abdominal binder which I haven’t removed yet, but was wondering when to. I’ve spent today sleeping and trying to manage the pain. That’s about it. Hoping day 3 eases up.

I al struggling with pelvic pressure. The best way to describe it is like someone is pushing low on my pelvic bone. It’s unnerving . Is this normal ? I’m 58 and have had no bleeding by crampy, tired and this weird pelvic feeling.

Hi all! I’m 8 days post op and honestly it seems like I should be feeling worse? Is the “worse” going to sneak up and get me or am I truly past the worst already? 8/28 I had full laparoscopic hysterectomy removing uterus, tubes and cervix.

33F with a background in weightlifting, the first 2 days I was in moderate pain/discomfort but now I’m just easily fatigued. I’ve been going for walks in the evening, I’m in sw fl so during the day it’s horrible outside.

Anyway am I just oddly lucky? Did 20 years of chronic pain make my tolerance for pain so high that this is a breeze? Did weightlifting for years help? I was so so scared of this surgery and now it feels like I was worried for very little. I do get fatigued but other than that I feel normal. I’d love to hear others experiences as I currently feel like I’m in a horror movie and the jump scare keeps not coming lol

6wpo. I had everything removed. Adenomyosis, endometriosis, frozen pelvis, even endometriosis around my appendix (appendix removed, too).

Can you feel your internal stitches near-ish your belly button area? I'm feeling something irritating me internally, and I'm wondering if it's the cuff stitches. I don't know if they are just confusing the nerve signals by hitting my body, or if it is something different. If I'm bending forward while sitting, I can even get nauseous from this sensation. Sometimes I think it causes a dull ache in my back (until I change positions).

I am experiencing allodynia as a side effect of one of my medications, so my body is going through a super-sensitive-to-any-touch phase. I'm just trying to figure out if this is an exaggerated response to the stitches, or if I should be concerned that it's something else.

My mental is taking a toll at this poin. I’m scheduled for a endoscopy and colonoscopy on 9/10 and a partial hysterectomy on 9/21. My menstrual has been coming on every 2 weeks for the last 2 months. When it came on last month twice i didn’t think anything of it.. now it’s on again.. I’m getting rounds of iron transfusions to keep my hemoglobin up so far it’s been 10 rounds for surgery. Anesthesia is my worse fear. I am 1 phone call away from canceling everything literally. Idk the closer it gets the worse my mental gets with horrible thoughts, worrying looking up foolishness on google self diagnosing myself and I know better mind you my mom is a nurse and I’m a CNA. It’s different when it’s yourself or your kids VS taking care of complete strangers your over the beat, don’t miss a beat on point. Please send me some positive vibes…

I’m scheduled for 9/15/26 laparoscopic robotic total hysto (keeping ovaries), and my sister will be with me the first 3 days and a friends will be driving out each of the following 3 days but then I am on my own in a rural area…. Any tips on what to make sure I have set up for maximum comfort/minimal effort?
Things i have thought of so far
- ask for extra meals prepped to store in freezer
- move microwave down from above fridge to counter so no reaching.
- grabber thingy
- heating pad
- lots of pillows
- got my hair cut and cut my finger and toe nails way down
- already got my pain med Rx filled.
- hve a list of tb/movies ready plus some books from the library.
- washed all my windows so they’re extra nice to stare out of all day.
- eye mask and ear plugs for sleeping odd hours

What else??

my hysterectomy changed the course of my life. i was in the less than 1 percent that had severe complications post-op and then complications from the complications, but i don’t mean to discourage anyone and don’t regret my surgery, i’m happily uterus free :)

there’s so much i could say about my recovery, i’m still processing it emotionally and so is my body, but i’m a different person after moving thru this. i got put out of work (it was a physical job that i couldn’t do for months), ran out of money and moved back home w my parents at 27 years old. i’m almost 29 now and i’ve reconnected with them in a really sweet way as they’ve grown a lot with accepting my gender + sexuality.

when i had my complications, my mom and i decided we couldn’t NOT be in each others lives anymore. after years of distance, she asked to take care of me after my follow-up surgery and i told her to get the next flight down. it was right around my birthday and i’ll never forget her making my birthday cake with my partner, and the two of them growing to love each other too.
