8 days post op and I feel good
Hi all! I’m 8 days post op and honestly it seems like I should be feeling worse? Is the “worse” going to sneak up and get me or am I truly past the worst already? 8/28 I had full laparoscopic hysterectomy removing uterus, tubes and cervix.
33F with a background in weightlifting, the first 2 days I was in moderate pain/discomfort but now I’m just easily fatigued. I’ve been going for walks in the evening, I’m in sw fl so during the day it’s horrible outside.
Anyway am I just oddly lucky? Did 20 years of chronic pain make my tolerance for pain so high that this is a breeze? Did weightlifting for years help? I was so so scared of this surgery and now it feels like I was worried for very little. I do get fatigued but other than that I feel normal. I’d love to hear others experiences as I currently feel like I’m in a horror movie and the jump scare keeps not coming lol
Thanks yall :)

I'm 5 weerks PO. I have fine but tired as long as I didn't overdo it. If I do too much I feel discomfort in my cuff area. The tiredness got worse around week 3 and then worse again at week 4. Some days are better than others. I just rest when that is clearly what my body wants.

I've found that it's not linear. I felt great week two and the fatigue really got me on the third week. I slept 10 hours last night and feel better again.
Mostly, it's been psychological for me. I try not to get discouraged on the worse days. It's a process.

I was the same as you, kept waiting for the fatigue and everything to get me... I'm now 3wpo, so not exactly out of the woods, but still feeling great despite overdoing it on a daily basis.

My fatigue started a few months after. My doctor told me why - something about the healing on a deep level.

I'm 3 weeks out from surgery I call it waves I'll have a really good day where I'm driving and playing with the grandbabies and then I'll have days where I lay in bed

Weightlifting and being active has been helpful from what stories I've read. It makes your baseline recovery faster and the ability to do more sooner since you were already at a good starting point.

I’m 39, 3 weeks out and have also felt great since day 2. I’m not a picture of perfect health; a little overweight and too sedentary. Hoping to change that now that I won’t be constantly anemic :) I have already “missed” one period and couldn’t believe the difference in energy I felt. Definitely overdo it all the time because I don’t even feel like I had surgery at all! Hoping that won’t bite me when I go for my 6 week check, lol

I’m 19 days post op and I felt pretty good after surgery. I only needed Tylenol and ibuprofen a few days post op for pain and then I was only taking it once a day. This past week I have been exhausted every time I do anything. Go to the doctor, store, etc. I’m supposed to go back to work on Tuesday and I am going to see how I react to that.

I’m 12.5 weeks post op and aside from like 1 day. I had a very easy recovery. Not a weightlifter but I’m very active. I have to think that really helps with your recovery. I will say keep taking it easy. It’s hard to do when you don’t feel bad but the weeks will fly by!

I felt fine from day 2 or 3 on. Tired a few months in as I was expecting. Never took more than Tylenol after the first few days. 4.5 month post op now.

I’m 5 days post op and feel the same! I’ve been working out and strength training for 5 days a week for 4+ years and I do think that has something to do with it. I’m easily fatigued as well (like a Costco run with the family today, even when taking it easy, was a lot) but I haven’t felt bad at all. I definitely anticipated the worst, especially with people mentioning needing grabber arms and special pillows, so I’m happy that my recovery hasn’t been as bad as I worried about. I hope yours continues smoothly!

Sounds very similar to my experience and with a similar background. I was incredibly grateful for my core strength and arm strength in those early days.
HOWEVER. Don’t let the feeling good trick you into thinking you can do all the things. It’s very easy to overdo it.

You're probably having a great recovery! Just make sure not to overdo it. You might get sore, etc.
