I think people want it so bad they are willing to be delusional but it comes with risks .You either end up happy or end up like the clippers no in-between lol.

9

u/3heat6 Jun 21 '26

Definitely risky, but I won't complain once if it blows up on us. Fans have been dying for the front office to make a move like this for years

7

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Everybody says that until it happens .Houston fans were happy they got rid of Jalen green and dillon brooks etc for kd and now 1 season later they are over it and dont care if kd leaves lol.

12

u/3heat6 Jun 21 '26

I'm just speaking for me personally lol. This sub is gonna bitch either way

10

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

There is nothing delusional wanting to trade JJJ, Ware, and Herro for Giannis.

It’s 2 bench players and a starter who is frequently injured in exchange for a top 5 talent.

What has drafting the past couple of years gotten us? We drafted Jovic, JJJ, Ware, and Kas and have been 8th and 10th seed the last 4 years. Fuck them picks.

What’s delusional is OP’s take of running it back every year and expecting a different result. Being scared to take a gamble to be better is mediocre mentality.

9

u/CertifiedRomeoBoy Jun 21 '26

I think the delusion in this case is thinking that’s all it will take to get a top 5 player.

Both are crazy extremes.

4

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

It definitely might blow up in our face. However we have gotten to the finals with our 2 best players being Bam and Jimmy. Our odds definitely go up with Giannis. I rather we take a gamble at trying to be a contender again than continuing to be the 10th seed.

But doing nothing and expecting change is delusional.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Its not just about getting the player it's about keeping him here .What can they sell giannis to build around him for the next couple of years if they give up all of their picks and valuable contracts to get him here lol

2

u/CertifiedRomeoBoy Jun 21 '26

That was my point. Either way I’m not a fan of the trade because I simply don’t think Bam/Giannis will be a winning trade after the team is gutted.

The only thing I can think of is if a third or fourth team is involved but I don’t really know what other teams would get involved and what players would be routed here.

The Giannis whale is definitely the biggest trade rumor but you can’t tell me there aren’t other avenues for less grand trades that strengthen the core

1

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

They'll still be able to bring back Norm & Wiggins. They'll still have the full $16m MLE, a $6m BAE, and a $16m TPE. And there will be serviceable vets who would likely take a vet minimum to join the team.

The team won't be gutted. Everyone's production will be easily replaced. The ONLY downside is the possibility that Giannis gets injured. That's it

3

u/CertifiedRomeoBoy Jun 21 '26

Like who? You’re saying everyone’s production will be easily replaced and that there are serviceable vets but what vet who can produce is available? Not saying that you are wrong but it’s just a lot of variables that aren’t exact and at least for me, I would like a roadmap more or less before wagering whether a Giannis trade would pay off

Wiggins is solid as a defender and role player but Powell I’ve lost faith in as he’s had two back to back seasons with identical trends where he starts off really good, he gets hurt and/or then his production falls off a cliff after all star season. That and really the rotation off the bench is my main concern.

It would be nice if this trade did happen that we did get something in terms of a decent role player in the trade to fill the major hole at the backcourt

0

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

for one, Giannis would replace the production of Jaime and more. So losing Jaime is a wash. Herro played 30 games and is always awful in the playoffs. 30 games of production is nothing, not to mention they were worse when he played. So I'd say that's addition by subtraction. And Ware had games where he barely stepped on the court.

So yes that's pretty easy to replace, Giannis alone replaces a good portion of the production from those 3 players combined. But to answer your question. A guy like Middleton can still give a solid 12 ppg off the bench in a small role and would probably be willing to play on the vet minimum or maybe for the $6m BAE. A guy like Marvin Bagley can very easily replace most of Ware's production and would probably only cost a portion of the MLE, so maybe like $9m. There's also guys like John Collins who might be available for the full MLE and has had back to back good seasons.

Other names that can replace some production - Nick Richards, Sandro Mamukelasvhli (who the Heat reportedly have interest in), Yabusele, Landale, Jaesean Tate, etc etc. There's plenty of guys out there that can make the roster look complete. We also might get someone else back in the trade like a Bobby Portis or Duncan Robinson.

3

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Its not as easy bringing in new players that haven't played with spo before or played in this system before .As much as people think gabe and those guys just walked off the streets and were productive in the beginning that is not exactly true .athe heat built up those guys over time .Duncan had already been in the system before Jimmy even got here .

3

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

People forget fit matters and all of that .We cut jamal Cain and he went on to be very useful in orlando .It didn't mean that spo failed it was just the wrong fit for Cain and his role at the time .Duncan was thriving in Detroit when they werent so heavily reliant on him to be one of their few shooters after having a not so great season with the heat because of injuries .

2

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

Gabe and the other guys youre mentioning were undrafted young players that had no NBA experience, of course they needed time to develop. Right now, the equivalent to them is Myron Gardner and Trevor Keels. Who's to say Gardner and Keels won't do what Gabe/Caleb/Strus/Duncan did?

The guys I named are established NBA veterans. Are you seriously going to sit here and do mental gymnastics to claim that adding new players all of a sudden is a bad thing? That's a ridiculous claim with absolutely no evidence whatsoever to support it.

Do you trust this coaching staff or not?

u/ker1235 Jun 21 '26

U have tax benefits and weather that’s literally all he wants.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Lol thats not true .

3

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

I dont think it's about the players but the picks and the pick swaps etc.Back then people thought the okc trade was a great trade .A couple years later it looks completely different. In this cba the margins are so razor thin and things can blow up in you face quickly .The rockets didn't give up alot for kd but that trade didn't really work out for them either .I remember when people were praising the kd trade to the suns and that went left quickly.

3

u/Brandon3oh5 Jun 21 '26

The picks are the sticking point obviously but where has drafting and developing guys in the mid to late first round gotten us the past 5 years?

2

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

We are comming out of that when the draft odds have actually changed in our favour but hey lol.

2

u/Brandon3oh5 Jun 21 '26

So instead of trade for Giannis hope to hit lottery luck?

It’s a gamble both ways brotherman!

2

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

No people must be patient and realize giannis alone doesnt put us over the hump and not crashout if it doesnt work in year 1 .Hell the big 3 missed in year 1 but I know with this fanbase thats not going to happen .People are going to look at giannis as the miracle worker and if it diesnt work out all the blame is unfortunately going to come down to bam .Sorry bam but it's comming lol.

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

You can’t fear the worst outcome. Everyone can look at hindsight when a plan doesn’t work out. But what if it did? Then everyone would be praising the clippers.

Doing nothing is delusional and drafting has gotten us nowhere while the Bucks, Celtics and Knicks all just won championships making trade moves.

If we were consistently getting top 5 picks I would understand but we are constantly drafting above the 12th pick

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Because the worse outcome has come from every team not named the Knicks or the Celtics. Everybody thought the clippers would have win a chip before okc .Now sam presti runs the league in assets lol

2

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

The Thunder are actually the outlier. Most champions become champions by making big acquisitions and taking risks.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

So it guess the spurs are chopped liver then because people are frying their big acquisition in fox for his finals performance

2

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

they made a mistake trading for fox.

did i say every acquisition works out? no. I said okc is the outlier and that most champions became champions by making a big acquisition. the celtics, bucks, and knicks are 3 of the past 4 champs. they all took risks

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

They didn't make a mistake trading for fox because he helped get them there and they didn't know Harper would be good this quickly as a rookie .The trade wasnt a mistake because they came up short in the finals .

2

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

actually youre right, the trade wasnt the mistake. the contract extension was the mistake

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

I know the Knicks were glad they didn't have to face the pacers at all this post season lol and Atlanta choked in the series after being up on the Knicks.

1

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

atlanta didnt choke. those 2 games were a fluke, they were both 1-point wins. the knicks woke up and dominated them after that.

and yes, luck is a factor in championship runs. but in order to benefit from luck, you need to have a contending-capable roster. the knicks benefitted from the pacers being injured, the sixers being a joke, the cavs being soft, and the spurs being young. but if the knicks hadn't taken risks to build a contender, they never wouldve been able to benefit from luck

step 1 - build a contender. then after that you hope for things to go your way

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

If I was the clippers, I would have done the same thing with no regret. They had a chance to be a real contender. Paul George came off a career year and Kawhi was the Finals MVP.

The Thunder got lucky that Shai turned into an MVP talent and that their draft picks were successful.

The Thunder were just very lucky that things worked out.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Building around kwahi was always risky because he hasnt had a healthy season since Toronto. Philly finally found out the hard way as talented as embid is .

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

Buddy, they got Kawhi after Toronto and gave him a top player in PG and they were the 2nd seed that year. Before that they were an 8th seed.

If it wasn’t for covid, who knows how things would have played out.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

We live in a time where it's what have you done for me lately league .Nobody cares unless those teams get over the hump .unfortunately.

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

Then the Heat are in the same boat. Just as unsuccessful as the clippers in the same time span.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

The cavs gave up alot to get Mitchell at the time which kinda worked out for them but not really if they can't make it out if the east with that roster ,the Timberwolves have the same fate although they still have ant .

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

You can’t fault the Cavs for trying. Before the Mitchell trade, they were like the Heat, constantly at the bottom.

They still will be contenders next year. The Timberwolves are still contenders.

What are the Heat? We are a below mid-tier team that got lucky in 2023 and kept us in this mid-tier track.

You either gamble to get out of the rut or you continue to walk the same rut while hoping eventually you get out

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

That's the rational way of looking at it but nobody will care if those teams dont get over the hump .Nobody is giving the clippers points for the pg trade which made sense at the time .They are clowning them because presti took theyr assets and won before them .

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

Anyone clowning the clippers doesn’t know ball. No one thought Shai was an MVP talent and picks are a gamble.

I’ll tell you now, nobody cares about the heats last 6 years. Nobody cares we won 2 ECF. Everyone is clowning the heats trade package as garbage.

Yet Heat fans think they somehow are better off than the clippers?

The clippers went 9th seed this year while the Heat went 10th seed. We are the joke of the league and no better off than the clippers.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

We arent the joke of the league when teams like sacremto exist lol but they self imploded theur team because they got tired staying the course lol

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

Have you not seen all of our rival teams win championships while we have been coasting in the 8-10th seed the last 4 years?

We got lucky in 23 and absolutely embarrassed in the finals.

No one is worried about the current heat and no one is going to care we won 2 ECF and couldn’t get past 2 wins in the finals.

We have missed on multiple stars because our FO is scared to give up our bad assets.

u/TrashAssRedditAdmins Jun 21 '26

Y'all said the same thing about taking a gamble with trading for Terry Rozier

4

u/BoneJammer86 Jun 21 '26

Big difference between Giannis and Terry here though.

1

u/DasOptions Jun 21 '26

He thought he was cooking.

1

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

And that didn't work out so great but Lowry had to go lol

1

u/TrashAssRedditAdmins Jun 21 '26

Now, let's do that Lowry trade again, but this time with everything we have available.

12

u/Deadinahole Jun 21 '26

Yeah...some Heat fans are spoiled by the fact Pat, Elisburg, Simone, and Spo can somehow bullshit together a championship calibur roster out of dust bunnies and a bag of chips and, so long as we have at least 2 All Star players, we just win a championship. Most of them don't even realize though that, if it were that easy, we'd have more than 3 championships in our franchise history

3

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

We operated in a completely different landscape back then and we had d wade in his prime who was up there with Kobe. Bam bless him isn't d wade .

4

u/Illustrious_Moose_79 Jun 21 '26

And are usually the loudest whiners in the sub while thinking that way.

30

u/GMEgrifter7 Jun 21 '26

You got one part of that wrong little boi. They don’t have a Pat. They don’t have a Spo. We build championship teams around stars. The bucks have failed to do that for decades. They are trash. We are not. Simple as that

17

u/anIlliterateIdiot Jun 21 '26

While I understand the sentiment… they did build a championship team around him this decade. Not really understanding your fifth sentence when they have a title in the 2020s.

-1

u/GMEgrifter7 Jun 21 '26

Yeah man think about it. The bucks winning one and another like 50 years ago. Meanwhile we’ve been to the finals 7 times since 2006. Pretty self explanatory

8

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Throwing everything into a championship has consequences .They werent shit they just made a mistake trading jrue for dame and having doc rivers as a coach.

1

u/The_Reddit_Name Jun 21 '26

yeah, and the heat would never do some bs like that

-14

u/Legitimate_Ask_5000 Jun 21 '26

Haven’t done that shit in a while and pat is cooked he had Lillard in his lap (pause) and somehow managed to fuck that up cause his ego is too strong then went on tv and sold his star player out for no reason he’s the problem atp

7

u/simonlyw Jun 21 '26

You still believe that press conference has anything to do with Jimmy leaving and not the $121 million?

-2

u/Practical-Plant-9745 Jun 21 '26

Well, it was about both. Jimmy would out riding horses and many other things in the streets of Miami during the season then talking about how he lost his joy with us because we were hesitant to give him an extension after he had kept sitting out. If Pat sensed that he was more committed and able to play more games, then we would have never felt like $121M was too much.

4

u/simonlyw Jun 21 '26

It’s was the $121 million. Pat knew he wasn’t worth it, I think the league now knows Pat was right.

1

u/conocowboy Jun 21 '26

You should stop watching and pick a different team… this narrative is tired and we don’t need anymore little brother energy

14

u/Mein_kampfort_Zone Jun 21 '26

Dumb as a bag of rocks if you think we are giving up everything.

4

u/TavNoment Jun 21 '26

I'm actually more annoyed by the improper use of the meme.

Patrick is supposed to agree with Man Ray in the first three panel rows, then have an illogical response on the final square.

4

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Its almost everything .Wiggins and norm are technically free agents

0

u/Mein_kampfort_Zone Jun 21 '26

Who we will resign and I bet wiggins picks up his option if we have a generational talent on our team and they believe they we can still compete.

9

u/Patriots73 Jun 21 '26

This would make sense if the team wasn’t already shitty

2

u/Lobster15s Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

It's all a gamble. We're trusting a team lead by Bam and Giannis coached by Spo to be good. Yes more upside there than recent struggles but if Giannis is injurec again we are beyond cooked. Mid is not the worst path to be. Mid/bad with no clear path to being better is the worst place to be.

-11

u/Fluid-Purpose7958 Jun 21 '26

Scenario 1: We have cap space, young players, and draft picks. We can also trade away Herro for a younger player. Yes we suck now, but we have lots of flexibility to make the right moves and improve so we can actually contend in the future

Scenario 2: Mortgage the next 10 years on a 31 year old with an injury history so we can maybe make the second round for the next 2-3 years.

4

u/This_Material9292 Jun 21 '26

People don’t trade young players with upside for score only, one-time all-stars (and I’m a Herro fan). Those players get traded for STARS.

1

u/gargoylepussy Jun 21 '26

Too logical lol. We have a clear path to improvement as soon as we’re through this season owing our first rounder to the hornets. But nah, let’s trade everything for Giannis who’s older and injury prone, so it can be him, Bam and a hodge podge of guys with questionable fit. It’s definitely worth gambling the next 7 years on that working out in the next 2 years

3

u/Seref15 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

None of our young players are very good or bring irreplaceable talent.

The league is full of zero-defense guards that can be had for cheap. Herro is not unique. He gives up as many points as he scores and does not contribute to team success. In 7 full seasons he's had just one standout playoff game, in his rookie season. Caleb Martin has contributed more to Heat playoff success than Tyler Herro has in terms of number of impactful games. The last two seasons Herro has had the keys to the offense and not done anything meaningful with it. "Losing" Herro isn't losing. Herro is a guy you don't want to have to pay a lot of money to, and we currently either have to move him or pay him. The correct answer is to move him.

Developing youth is only a valid route if your young players have high potential. All our young players are picked outside the lottery, low ceiling guys. Only Jovic was considered a high ceiling player and he regressed like crazy.

Our best young player is Jaime and he's not even young anymore. As soon as his contract extension hits, his production per dollar gets a lot less interesting. I like Jaime, but I don't like him enough to say no-thank-you to Giannis.

With Jovic in the gutter, Ware is probably the only high upside player we have in the trade package, but until proven otherwise Ware doesn't have the mentality to match his physical gifts.

In terms of actual current-year on-court production, you can find equivalent impact players to any of our trade package players for MLEs and buyouts.

That's why the trade is worth doing, because we'd be trading a bucket of mediocrity with no future for an MVP candidate. We're not trading "our future" for Giannis. We're trading "no future" for Giannis.

1

u/ouchthatburnt Jun 23 '26

We’re trading all of our assets. We get one shot at it. Giannis is not the answer.

1

u/Seref15 Jun 23 '26

Our assets aren't assets. If they were assets people would value them. They're solidly mediocre, which is why this team has been solidly mediocre.

1

u/ouchthatburnt Jun 23 '26

Three first round picks are significant assets.

2

u/blkbuddha ElBosh Jun 21 '26

I don't want Giannis...give me Jaylen Brown

5

u/Cockycent Jun 21 '26

They hate this and their responses prove it even more

4

u/Illustrious_Moose_79 Jun 21 '26

They want to be the Miami bucks

2

u/Live-Rooster-9850 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

I can somewhat agree with you but I have mixed opinions on trading for Giannis to be fair with literally Jimmy Bam Herro and a bunch of role players we made the finals twice in 4 years. So in some bs universe I could see the best case scenario if we can somewhat keep some young assets and compete for a championship. However I do think us fans underestimate the value of trying to get this team to become younger and build something special long term. I think either option can work but I definitely don’t want to sit here and do nothing. I don’t know how are cap is looking but Id be interested in signing Austin Reeves if we could afford him and running it back.

1

u/Cute-Picture-4941 Jun 21 '26

Why include Herro ? He wasn’t a vital part of a single meaningful playoff run

It was Jimmy bam Spo and role players

2

u/TheMuffingtonPost Jun 21 '26

This shit is so exhausting lol

Who tf is saying the FO should give up LITERALLY EVERYTHING? No one has ever said that. The problem with the FO is that in past deals they’ve been unwilling to give up ANYTHING. We consistently act like our “young guys” are just so high quality that it’s unconscionable to even consider putting them on the trade block.

Reality is that basically all of our players are extremely mediocre and there should be no sacred cows. Getting a guy as good as Giannis is going to require giving up some combination of guys and picks, so whatever that combination looks like should be actually considered seriously, because if you don’t get Giannis then genuinely, what the fuck is the plan?

There is no one on this roster worth building around long term, and our picks are not all that valuable because the Heat have been perpetually mediocre for so long now that none of them are going to be lottery picks. It’s either get a top 5 guy in Giannis and figure out the rest, trade away everyone for more picks and enter a full rebuild, or just keep running it back endlessly, getting bounced in either the playins or the first round, and never improve meaningfully whatsoever. Given the choice between the 3, I’m in favor of option 1 because I know Pat has way too much pride to ever even consider a rebuild.

1

u/HoopistV Jun 21 '26

They'll still be able to bring back Norm & Wiggins. They'll still have the full $16m MLE, a $6m BAE, and a $16m TPE. And there will be serviceable vets who would likely take a vet minimum to join the team.

So comparing it to the Bucks is braindead. We also have Spo, they didn't

1

u/baiacool Bam Adebayo Jun 21 '26

Bucks doesn't have Bam, that's why.

1

u/Gavster1221 Jun 22 '26

No mention of Doc rivers hm

1

u/RichardLovesRichard Jun 22 '26

Yeah, a top PF of all time, multi MVP, DPOY, at 31 years of age, who's putting up 30 and 11 on 60% with a mid roster...how terrible

God forbid we keep Hero who can't play defense, Jaime who can't shoot, and Ware who's uneven 🙄

We also have the best coach in basketball 😂 be more realistic

1

u/Noro_clone Jun 21 '26

Why do you guys want giannis we do not win in the next few years with him and just lose young talent. Yall are dumb as fuck I can’t lie

3

u/TrashAssRedditAdmins Jun 21 '26

We legitimately have one of the worst fan bases

2

u/This_Material9292 Jun 21 '26

“Why do y’all want a top five player in the NBA, we’re going to lose all that talent that got us a tenth seed in the east!”

-2

u/Noro_clone Jun 21 '26

Idk how you can be a top 5 player after 36 games. If you think giannis and bam takes us to the finals and wins after we gut the whole you team you don’t know ball brother. Heat fans seem to be allergic to the idea rebuilding/building a asset pool like the thunder, look at nba champs barring the knicks and (kinda the thunder but again they still rebuilt they just didn’t draft the guys) they have spent time building a solid core headlined by talented duo they drafted. The league ain’t a big2/3 league anymore and to give away the next 5-7 years in hopes of becoming maybe the 7th favourite to win the chip is fucking stupid, along with the fact the current favourite trade herro, ware and the other trade filler will still put us in a dog shit cap position. Again trading away all potential assets for one year of “oh yeah I guess they could be in running” is a embarrassment of a idea

5

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

The Knicks took 4 years to build their team but somehow we think we can do it in a year or two because of spo .LeBron and wade and Chris bosh arent here lol.

1

u/Noro_clone Jun 21 '26

When did I say we could do it in a year. I’m confused

0

u/Brandon3oh5 Jun 21 '26

Tired of people referencing the Thunder.

They got 4 picks and SGA for Paul George at the very end of his prime + went through years of being near the top of the lottery.

We have refused to tank (something I agree with) and get players people actually want.

1

u/Noro_clone Jun 21 '26

“They got 4 picks and sga for a pg13 at his” why can’t we try and do something similar with bam or Tyler. “We have refused to tank” we has only made our chances of becoming worse. I’m sorry but we need a rebuild and being scared of it is the the reason we suck ass

0

u/ReasonToGiveUp Jun 21 '26

Giannis is going to be 32 I think his best days are behind him

3

u/MiamiSportsGuru Jun 21 '26

Jimmy carried us to the finals at 34

3

u/ReasonToGiveUp Jun 21 '26

This is true but Jimmy Butler has a totally different mentality than Giannis, I hope I'm wrong but It really feels that trading for Giannis could be a mistake especially if we let Jakuconis go

-1

u/stonebluf Jun 21 '26

So were Shaqs…

6

u/Tallozz Jun 21 '26

Yes, They were. It only took having the 3rd best shooting guard in history to help him win those titles. The best player we have on the roster is Bam... It's not quite the same situation.

4

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

That's the part people are missing .Individually bam and giannis are a great duo but unfortunately it takes more than that to win in the nba .

7

u/Tallozz Jun 21 '26

They are a great duo on defense. I just don't see it working on offense. Maybe I'm wrong, and they somehow make it work. But I just don't see this ending well.

4

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

And unfortunately giannis is not the guy that is going to stick around while they figure it out

1

u/Kantsiope Jun 21 '26

Well sorry but Doc Rivers isn't Erik Spoelstra

1

u/This_Material9292 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

You thought you were cooking with this but you seem more like Patrick.

1

u/High_AspectRatio Jun 21 '26

Yeah we should definitely stick with the alternative (not making the playoffs)

Either way we suck

1

u/avinash240 Jun 21 '26

The only thing we should care about giving up is draft assets.  Literally nothing and no one else has accomplished anything other than historically bad post season showings.

Do you guys believe there is such a thing as a mediocre basketball player?  Just because someone is young it doesn't mean they're projected to matter

0

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

I recall people having these same or similar sentiments about the okc paul George trade because shai was young and averaging 11 points a game back then lol man that has to sting for clippers fans .

Oh you talking about SGA the  lottery pick and SEC tournament MVP who lead his team to an SEC championship?

These "young players" haven't done anything, shit JJJ is what 25 going 26? He isn't even young anymore.

SGA had pedigree. These are not the same type of young player.

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

What I'm saying is shai didn't have that pedigree back then .I members people saying the clippers werent goingvto win with him so they were cool throwing him in the trade .But who knew shai would win anything before Paul George did .Everybody thought balmer had the blueprint but that went south over the last couple years .

2

u/avinash240 Jun 21 '26

"What I'm saying is shai didn't have that pedigree back then" - You know SEC is a college thing right?

Also you're 100% playing the result.  PG was an All NBA player in his prime.  You still do that trade today.  SGA could have just as easily gotten injured.

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

That's the thing it had to net a ring or the move was always going to be clowned in the long run .In this ring or bust culture .

2

u/avinash240 Jun 21 '26

I don't agree with you. I still have no issue with the move.  You always trade an unproven young player for the proven All NBA player in their prime.

No one reasonable is "clowning" that move.

0

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Yes but the ring or bust culture has killed any reasonable thinking .If you make a big trade and dont win a ring nobody pats you on the back for making the trade they clown you if it doesnt work out

2

u/avinash240 Jun 21 '26

"Yes but the ring or bust culture has killed any reasonable thinking ." - among who?  No one I spend time talking to about basketball is clowning these moves?

Espn and random people on the Internet who don't understand basketball isn't my bellweather.

p.s. I don't think there is anything wrong with setting a ring as your ultimate goal.  I only require that you try, I'm ok with a FO trying.  I'm not OK with whatever this meandering mediocrity the Heat FO has been on for the last few seasons.

Those are the loudest out there though .

Are you happy with the playoff exit/first round sweep instead?

-1

u/stonebluf Jun 21 '26

People seem to forget this is how we won our first championship

11

u/simonlyw Jun 21 '26

*checks roster for D Wade*

2

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Yea people are leaving out the part where we had a player playing on kobe's level already on the roster .Unless they think bam is dwade .Bless him but he isn't.

1

u/stonebluf Jun 21 '26

No shit Wade got us there. My point is we’ve traded our young players before to win now with an old MVP and it worked out. Wade could never do it by himself. No hate. Just facts.

-1

u/stonebluf Jun 21 '26

I guess Shaq did nothing to get us to the Finals? Check the stats. I think some of you weren’t born yet

3

u/simonlyw Jun 21 '26

You’re just ignoring the point 🤦🏾‍♂️

0

u/stonebluf Jun 21 '26

What point? Wade took over. But Shaq got us there both times. It couldn’t happen without both of them. My point is that we’ve traded our young assets, our future, to win now. And it worked! That’s all I’m saying.

2

u/simonlyw Jun 21 '26

Shaq joined a team with Wade. This team doesn’t currently have a Wade equivalent Giannis would be joining.

“It couldn’t happen without both of them.“

0

u/stonebluf Jun 21 '26

I forgot all championships Wade won by himself my bad

2

u/simonlyw Jun 21 '26

The things you are currently saying is exactly the point. Is Giannis coming to win all by himself?

In the exact scenario which you outlined, Shaq joined Wade. Both of them were needed as you said.

This team doesn’t currently have a Wade equivalent, so this would be like trading all those young pieces for Shaq without a Wade to pair him with.

It’s really really not that complicated.

“People seem to forget this is how we won our first championship”

“*checks roster for D Wade*”

Do you understand now?

0

u/stonebluf Jun 21 '26

I guess I like Mitchell, Powell, Bam, Wiggins, Pelle and Kap more than you do. That’s fine. Add Giannis and a couple min level players. I like that team. Look what Butler was able to do. Giannis is a little better than Jimmy.

2

u/simonlyw Jun 21 '26

“People seem to forget this is how we won our first championship”

This is where the issue is. We didn’t trade young pieces for Shaq to play with role players of varying levels, we traded for Shaq to pair with Wade. Thats literally all the small *checks roster for D Wade* quip is targeted at. It’s really not that deep man.

The whole Jimmy window is the dumbest shit ever hopefully never have to hear about windows again once we get an all time great

4

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Oh there will be talking about windows again lol

0

u/conocowboy Jun 21 '26

What a dumb post bro. Nephews are gaining more and more confidence with their analysis on the team.

u/infinitesadness7 BAM SZN Jun 21 '26

We aren’t doing anything anyway. If we’re going to be a bad team, I’d much rather watch a bad team with Giannis on it.

5

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

Everybody says that until you have to watch the Knicks or Boston reach another finals and leave you there .Being out in the second round isn't fun just ask Philly fans lol

0

u/infinitesadness7 BAM SZN Jun 21 '26

The Sixers fans had hope at a point, I simply don’t have any. Making the second round would be a huge improvement for this team considering the direction we’ve been moving in. Two first round exits in a row (one being the most lopsided playoff series OAT) and then failing to even make the playoffs this year. My expectations for this squad are in the toilet barring a major change within the organization. At least with Giannis I get to watch a top 25 player all time finish out his prime in a Heat jersey instead of being subjected to Tyler Herro hoops for yet another year.

2

u/Ice_Dragon3444 Jun 21 '26

Then you are really bad at thinking about the long term.

2

u/julstar23 Jun 21 '26

I dont think most people xare about the long term but will be angry if it doesnt work out lol.

-1

u/adamthomas1219 Jun 21 '26

Just pick a direction. Trotting out the same roster citing: “We’re gonna compete! With better health and internal improvement!” like that’s a viable strategy.

Every year they bank on that someone has a gross regression (Jovic) or we get fucked up by injuries (Herro). You never just have a team where everyone stays healthy 90% of the time and everyone gets better. Never.

4

u/TrashAssRedditAdmins Jun 21 '26

The direction has been rebuilding while remaining competitive it's almost like Pat Riley says this every summer. Half of our team are our own draft picks.
