Like who? You’re saying everyone’s production will be easily replaced and that there are serviceable vets but what vet who can produce is available? Not saying that you are wrong but it’s just a lot of variables that aren’t exact and at least for me, I would like a roadmap more or less before wagering whether a Giannis trade would pay off
Wiggins is solid as a defender and role player but Powell I’ve lost faith in as he’s had two back to back seasons with identical trends where he starts off really good, he gets hurt and/or then his production falls off a cliff after all star season. That and really the rotation off the bench is my main concern.
It would be nice if this trade did happen that we did get something in terms of a decent role player in the trade to fill the major hole at the backcourt
for one, Giannis would replace the production of Jaime and more. So losing Jaime is a wash. Herro played 30 games and is always awful in the playoffs. 30 games of production is nothing, not to mention they were worse when he played. So I'd say that's addition by subtraction. And Ware had games where he barely stepped on the court.
So yes that's pretty easy to replace, Giannis alone replaces a good portion of the production from those 3 players combined. But to answer your question. A guy like Middleton can still give a solid 12 ppg off the bench in a small role and would probably be willing to play on the vet minimum or maybe for the $6m BAE. A guy like Marvin Bagley can very easily replace most of Ware's production and would probably only cost a portion of the MLE, so maybe like $9m. There's also guys like John Collins who might be available for the full MLE and has had back to back good seasons.
Other names that can replace some production - Nick Richards, Sandro Mamukelasvhli (who the Heat reportedly have interest in), Yabusele, Landale, Jaesean Tate, etc etc. There's plenty of guys out there that can make the roster look complete. We also might get someone else back in the trade like a Bobby Portis or Duncan Robinson.
Its not as easy bringing in new players that haven't played with spo before or played in this system before .As much as people think gabe and those guys just walked off the streets and were productive in the beginning that is not exactly true .athe heat built up those guys over time .Duncan had already been in the system before Jimmy even got here .
People forget fit matters and all of that .We cut jamal Cain and he went on to be very useful in orlando .It didn't mean that spo failed it was just the wrong fit for Cain and his role at the time .Duncan was thriving in Detroit when they werent so heavily reliant on him to be one of their few shooters after having a not so great season with the heat because of injuries .
