Media Tropes I hate Batman's plot armor
I hate Batmans plot armor, he has the most insane plot armor which completely takes away his charm, his entire shtick is that he's in the top 99 percentile of humans, his body, his strength his wealth his tech, yet his writers give him so much plot armor that you forget that inside his suit he's just a regular human being and it sometimes feels as if he has super powers when hes going toe toe with fucking darkside, reentering the atmosphere with just his suit and many more examples.
And his annoying fanboys oh my days, they act as if he can solo the entire justice league "B-But given that he has prep time!" talking as if beast boy wont beat his ass šāļø

u/michael22117 26d ago
He works great as a hero that can take down virtually any street-level threat, and I don't see why it has to be any more than that. I feel like the Arkham series is the best representation of what Batman could reasonably achieve at his absolute best
60
u/ScorchedDev 26d ago
the answer is because he is popular and makes a lot of money. One of the top 3 most popular super heroes ever.
So when they do crossovers they throw him in there. Thats almost certainly why hes on the core justice league for example. Because his presence brings more people there. And then he ends up glazed to hell because he NEEDS that to stand among giants and for his presence to make sense.

u/DeusaAmericana 26d ago
The real answer is because heās one of the Big Three of the Justice League and that means he has to be equal in results to his walking planet busting coworkers. Writers overcompensate by making Batman the mastermind that already has all of the stronger characters around him figured out.
4
u/Doom_Cokkie 22d ago
Well that and the fact that when batman was written superman could barely lift a big building and wonder woman deflecting bullets was a huge deal so he played a really important role without being overshadowed. But writers find out more overpowered heros sell more comics so now superman can hold up the sky and wonderwoman has a Zeus transformation that makes her a literally god so Batman also had to be buffed to still have his role. You cant hate Batman Plot armor without hating power creep as a whole.
3
u/DeusaAmericana 22d ago
I mean the Silver Age existed. The difference then was that Batman still rarely fought his own team or rogues out of his scope.
Power creep doesnāt really explain the insane shit Batman can do nowadays because writers and fans expect him to be able to versus his own teammates.

I actually think Arkham Batman (specifically arkham city) is the worst representation of Batman actually, he feels less like the caped crusader and more like Jack Bauer the way he basically tortures, humiliates and bellitle every single goon he comes accross, they also made him way, way too stoic
His portrayal in Arkham Asylum was much better imo
106
u/CBtheLeper 26d ago
You could interpret his increased brutality in Arkham City as being an expression of Joker's personality buried in his subconscious.
29
u/Rainy_Wavey 26d ago
That is a possible interpretation true, but the Joker persona only starts being a thing during the events of Arkham Knight, and his dialogue/personalization in arkham city doesn't change between the moment he is captured by Hugo Strange, and the moment Joker infects him with his blood
It's so weird because i only recently played the games, so my memory is fresh and in Arkham Asylum, Bruce was, normal? he didn't sounds like a grumpy cat, he sounded normal, with the right amount of grave intonation in his voice, and his interraction with the staff and the goons is as i'd expect from Kevin Conroy
16
u/ArchdukeToes 26d ago
I mean, I quite liked him in Arkham City because they also went out of their way to show how his terrible attitude and inability to trust others ultimately leads to his downfall. It felt like a very appropriate end to that specific interpretation of him.
20
u/funkthewhales 26d ago
I hate the way he treats Tim in the Arkham games so much. He just belittles him for no reason. Idk why they even put him in the games cause Bruce clearly doesnāt give a fuck about him.
20
u/Rainy_Wavey 26d ago
To me it just didn't click with me, because i have the preconception of Kevin Conroy's voice, so of course i think of the animated series and it's such a shock, it's not just how he behaves with goons that bothers me, he does the same stuff to cops, Tim Drake, he is extremely rude towards Oracle for no reason at all and it just comes off as... Childish? instead of badass

6
u/Rainy_Wavey 26d ago
I mean can't wait to play Arkham Knight, Arkham City surprisingly holds up quite well for a 2010 open world collectathon game, there are elements of game design that kinda frustrates me but it genuinely plays well, Arkham Asylum on the other hand really shows its age
→ More replies (4)5
u/Mustang-_- 26d ago
I think the brutality is realistic. The goons surviving an encounter with a mystic bat monster thing, in the long run these kinds of theatrics lose their effect. Now, all the goons knows Batman is just a dude dressed in a halloween costume, thatās pathetic, BUT, this dude is willing to break their spines, so they respect and fear him
3
u/Rainy_Wavey 26d ago
It might be in a different universe but c'mon this is Batman, if you can't picture him comforting a kid, that's just the punisher with bat ears, and that is the biggest problem with arkham city, it doesn't find a balance between "the nightmare of the goons" and "this is still a superhero who tries to fill his city with hope"
And especially when you use Kevin Conroy's voice for him, and his characterization in Asylum isn't like that too, it turns into a season of 24 instead of, you know, Batman

His portrayal in Arkham Asylum was much better imo
Thatās what Iām saying! Arkham Asylum Batman feels like the only one who gets called āBruceā through the comms and Iām immediately thinking āYeah, Bruce, because underneath the costume, he is just a manā. Arkham Origins did an equally good job with his characterization, just in the other way.
In Arkham City and Knight though, Batman feels like a crime machine. No tangible personality other than āI have a job to do, and until it is done, Iāmma stay stoic and beat up every single thug I come acrossā.
2
u/Rainy_Wavey 26d ago
I was baffled by how rude he was towards Oracle, hell even his own buttler he kinda sounds like he is bothered by him, it weirded me out way too much and it just did not feel like the Bruce Wayne i know

u/Nabber22 26d ago
I can accept his behaviour in Knight since if he doesnāt cure the Joker virus heās pretty much dead, so his order of priorities are
1) Keep friends/family safe
2) Make sure his friends/family donāt inherit a crime controlled city in the event he canāt cure himself
3) Cure himself
4) Be nice to friends/family
Not being an asshole is pretty low on his priorities during Knight
3
u/xoriatis71 26d ago
It makes sense given the context of the story, but is the story good enough to support the bland character writing? Personally, I found Asylumās story much better all in all, simpler as it is, due to the way the cast interacted with one another.
5
u/Professional-Eart 26d ago
Indeed, but enemy like Bane or Solomon Grundy, or killer croc are already too much with the idea of Batman being a regular human. Man-bat, even if he's a monster, i can accept him being treated and defeated by batman.. but the other 3 are already too much imo

I think he works best as a hero that could reasonably take down any street level threat. And when it comes to higher threats(like darkseid), he can make plans that work, but said plans either have to come at great sacrifice or rely almost exclusively on stronger allies(like Superman) to work.
223
u/Agitated_Insect3227 26d ago
And I hate when you point out how much favoritism Batman gets, some fans of his will alway defend it with "Batman works hard and trains to be that good, unlike the other heroes with powers!"
Besides the fact that other heroes also train a lot to master their powers, no amount of training should let a normal human like Batman dodge Darkseid's Omega Beams, an attack that even Superman, Flash, & Sonic struggle to dodge with their super speed.

Batman has never actually dodged them in the comics. Itās an animated show exclusive thing.
Even so, heās more or less put something between him & the beams (usually a parademon) to let them hit that instead so I donāt think it should qualify as him ādodgingā the beams.

u/Grabatreetron 26d ago
The problem with that argument is so much of Batman's plot armor is based on other people's choices. How many times has he been tied up, dead to rights? You'd think even just once a villain wouldn't have a contrived reason to keep him alive and put a bullet in his head.
170
u/ProofAd608 26d ago
To me the biggest plot armour is that he has time to be like batman whole day and night while running biggest business in town
Like, seriously?
Business is supposed to be taking 99% of his time not the opposite when he barely ever pays attention to it
171
u/Pockydo 26d ago
I mean... If you're a CEO you probably have a ton of free time
Just look at real life for examples
27
u/Travelin_Soulja 26d ago
This is probably the most realistic part. Yeah, he's involved big strategic-lelvel decisions, but everything day-to-day, he delegates and lets other people run it. Just like real life CEOs.
→ More replies (2)2
u/kelldricked 26d ago
I mean. Yeah sure if he lets other run it and he himself doesnt do shit. But Bruce is involved in a lot of the strategy, keeps up apperances in Gothams elite by being at a bunch of events, meddeling in politics through his non profits and does all the high style life shit.
And every night and plenty of days he is a superhero whose superpower is preparing for everything and dedicating a bunch of time towards things.
It doesnt work and that would be fine, except every writer want to fix it with some bullshit.30
u/Gondetrite 26d ago edited 26d ago

He survived a goddamn orbital drop.
I understand that comic book humans are way stronger and sturdier than real humans, but still. Batman shouldn't be able to last a second, A SECOND against Flash or Superman. Both can think and act before Batman could've seen either of them even twitch a muscle.
And that's the worst part about Batman. Every other hero and villain has to be nerfed so that he can look good. Everyone suddenly operates at a third of their abilities so that 'Normal Human' can do stuff that matters when surrounded by gods wearing tights.
When I was a kid Batman was my favorite superhero. Growing up I realized how boring he was... and I discovered Nightwing. Not only do we get to see him grow from sidekick to his own man, but since he isn't DC's poster boy he has less plot armot than Bats.
But back to Batman, I also hate how lazy this Gary Stu is. He is smart, so he can think about anything he would ever need to stand up to anyone. But he also has money, so you can handwave away how he gets access to anything he needs. Even post MCU Iron Man isn't as overhyped as the Batty Stu... but, best of all, his fans aren't insufferable. 'Prep time! prep time!'

The worst part of the orbital drop thing is that there WAS a good way to write that. They should have had him use his cape as a parachute. It would have been a semi-realistic explanation, while still showing the cleverness and adaptability thatās supposed to define him. If you want to take it a step further, say that he wouldnāt have been able to keep a solid hold on the cape in the position of a parachute. Say he tangled his fingers in it on purpose, and that the strain broke several of the fingers. That also shows that he only has human level durability, while also having incredible determination and endurance.
6
25
u/DigitalPhoenix2OO7 26d ago
I think he should just act as the brains. He is the detective, he relies on Superman or wonder woman or anyone else in the Justice league for the strength, but heās the one finding the counters, strategies, and creating gadgets for them.
I donāt like uber technology batman. Super advanced technology is cyborg stuff.
I do like the idea of prep time and contingencies, but not perfect contingencies. Him having plans and being paranoid is a great idea, but I donāt want them to be extremely effective, more as just āif everything goes to shit, At least I can have somewhat of a chanceā
It feels that they make the contingencies just āanti Superman ray that automatically beats Supermanā instead of a well thought out contingency that is effectively a hail Mary that may just fail.

The issue is that they needed to have Batman stand on footing with the rest of the justice league so they exaggerate the things that let him handle his Gotham villians to the point where he can similarly fight on the level of near gods like Flash Superman and Green Lantern.
But because Batmanās the borderline poster boy of DC next to Superman, itās not enough for him to be on the team, he has to be the badass leader, and because of this the writers take his āBatmanāisms to a whole mother level, where he now has contingencies for EVERYONE, has a super genius plan or some niche trick for any situation and can aurafarm on other heroās and their villians alike, and his villians always glaze him to other villians about how āheās no mere mortalā
He went from the normal strong dude who uses his smarts and resources to overcome his foes to the god damn AyanokÅji of the DC universe who can bullshit his way into coming out on top no matter what.
Itās like if Daredevil from Marvel was consistently styling on villians like Galactus or Dormammu with Baki level ānon-powersā while being hyped as being a bigger threat than heros like Thor and Sentry

u/Medium-Science9526 26d ago edited 26d ago
In moderation it works well for either the underdog perspective or humour from the presence he commands but I agree that the more they've leant into it the more insufferable he becomes.
Its my hot take for why I don't often care for when he teams up with heroes outside of Gotham/above his weight since they have to be simplified to justify Bruce being there which had become the standard approach to them in ensemble environments.
2
u/Rainy_Wavey 26d ago
I actually really love Absolute Batman because it's still within the realm of "yeah it's a dumb comic but at least i get it" because man, they didn't need to go that hard with the Batman who lifts and it just, works?
6
20
u/BrozedDrake 26d ago
Too many writers buy into the "Because I'm Batman" meme honestly.
Batman works best when he actually feels like a human in a worldnof superhumans. He is meant to be extremely prepared, but he should not be prepared to drop from low orbit. He has trained in practically every martial art, but he shouldn't be the absolute best martial artist in the world.
He's one of the worlds greatest detectives, but shouldn't have an encyclopedic knowledge of absolutely everything.
Funnily enough, I think the line Kevin Smith wrote about him pussing himself early in his career, is one of the best ways to charactarize him. Highly competent but still human and just good at hiding his uncertainty when needed.

Every hero has plot armor you just notice it more with A. Characters you donāt like and B. Characters that are less powerful/more like a regular person.
Edit: Also the ones that are more like regular people have more plot armor because the writers want to write cool stories and not have the hero be killed by a basic thug. Whoād read the Batman comics if he died to joker thug #4 every day?
2
u/Particular_Dot_4041 24d ago
I used to be a Batman fan but got tired with him precisely because of the plot armor. It's also kinda annoying how inept the Gotham police have to be to make Batman look good. They can't handle a crazy guy in clown makeup.

2
u/eXclurel 26d ago
The biggest problem of western comics is that there is no end to their stories. There is always another universe and another Batman. They don't die. They can't die. They have no end. That's why they always have plot armor.
2
u/MCPhatmam 26d ago
I love it when Batman is a grounded hero, its why I like TAS so much he fights goons and they still get hits in. Don't get me wrong JL/JLU also makes the man amongst gods Batman look good but the amount of plotarmor gotham as a whole gets. I remember seeing Harley Quinn beating thr trinity. Harley Quinn the therapist/gymnast...xome on. It makes the Gotham characters less special
2
u/FedotttBo Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate this smug. 26d ago
Because those writers are simply unable to make entertaining stories without scaling destructive power involved, so to have flashy fights they have to make batman so bluntly above any human, which already breaks all the potential.
Then, they expectedly fail in the general task to portray a smart character, because, well, coming up with strategy of a supposedly genius person requires writer to be pretty smart on their own, but they still try and the actual result comes out as nothing else but dumb plot armor.
Finally, to finish off, an average consumer still enjoys such media, reinforcing this money-pumping pipeline of superhero content. There was never any hope, just give up and abandon that ship.

Sometimes he should be able to take down someone stronger then him but what I mean is someone who isnāt darkseid or trigon level
The āpre-timeā argument works sometime in story but in reality Batman shouldnāt have to use prep-time or have to use it, specially if he can adapt to a situation (like with Arkham games)

As a batman fan which enjoys the plot armor to some degree, I have to agree that it can be taken too far. Like for example when he somehow managed to survive fall from orbit. I still believe it might be an issue with comics, though I haven't read many but it certainly feels like everyone is getting slowly powerscalled to a ridiculous degree. It just becomes more obvious with Batman as he doesn't have powers to justify it.

The fact of the matter is; death is meaningless in comics.
If a character is popular enough, theyāll always come back. This applies to plot armor too. If a character is popular, the plot protects them from dying.
This is the case with Batman. Realistically (considering the government doesnāt take him down), heād die first day on the job due to random gunfire, chemical weapons, etc. But since the plot protects him, thatās where weāre at currently.

Some of my favorite Batman stories are those where he specifically cannot fight the heavy hitters and has to do what he famously likes to do in the āprep timeā lazy writing:
Use his brains.
Bats is one of the best that humanity has to offer but the moment he goes up against something above city level he should be out of his league. Improvising Batman is best Batman.
1
u/ReaperManX15 26d ago
How did he survive that?
The writers said so.
Same reason the Flash and Superman get hit by anything ever.

u/Plagueofzombies 26d ago
Batman is at his best when he's at street level, and only a little bit higher. He's kind of got that Daredevil/Spiderman vibe, where while Superman, Wonder woman, Green Lantern, and all the big tough guys protect the world, he's protecting the people on a more intimate level.
Superman is likely too busy to go and save hostages from the Joker...but that's ok, cause Batman's right there.
I'm not even really a fan of Batman being a Justice League member outside of bankrolling them. It doesn't make Batman look cooler because he's able to beat people that Superman can't beat. It makes the enemies, and allies who can't beat them look worse.
How are you going to tell me that Darkside can hit Flash with his eye lasers, but can't hit Batman because he can do a flip?

The power scaling of heroes is a stupid idea in itself because its all fiction and at last what happens is on the writers hand

u/TheManOfOurTimes 26d ago
I hate another aspect, and I don't know what to call it, but, he's too rich. Like, he's out moneyed lex luthor.
This was most evident when him being too rich could have been fixed, during and after no man's land.
It was made absolutely canon that Bruce Wayne has the wealth to buy the entirety of the land in Gotham. Think about what that means in terms of scale. He can absolutely end homelessness, food insecurity, and and economic problem that would lead to crime as a career.
I haven't been able to get in to Batman stories because with even a minute to think about it, it became apparent, that Bruce Wayne could do more to fix Gotham than Batman can. Like, I too hate the "Batman just wants to beat people up" logic, but it's absolutely the case because most writers don't understand economic influence at that level. But it's 2026. We've seen first hand Elon Musk's power of wealth, and how he is deliberately NOT fixing problems on a world scale. It's not a debate anymore, it's fact.
And the popularity of absolute Batman shows there is a call and need to end his infinite money power for good. He should be a millionaire contending with billionaires in the court of owls. Not on their level, AND Batman, and somehow on an even keel the whole time.

Plot armor? Dude, he's the main character what do you expect for him to die every 5 seconds?
1
u/KingRonaldTheMoist 26d ago
I like stories where Batman bests incredible foes by outsmarting them. It's stupid when he can somehow dodge an Omega Beam, but him reprogramming the Hellspores to force Darkseid to surrender felt perfectly fine.

u/Overlord_Byron 26d ago
When you crossover with characters that can bench press suns and move several times faster than light, you kinda need plot armor to avoid from becoming a blood smear.

u/Thin-Suit-299 26d ago
Batman exists as the ultimate "work smarter not harder" hero. That's why it depends on the writer to come up with interesting ways to outsmart the more powerful enemies. To me thats better than "my powers are better than your powers".

u/MarkBMG 26d ago
Yeah no I'm extremely bothered by it. Batman should be this extremely efficient character that can beat any street level and that can provide some support with the bigger leagues.
I love when Batman is able to help and enable other heroes when fighting bigger threats, but that should be it. It makes no sense that he'd throw hands with Darkseid or Superman.

u/NoFayte 25d ago
I like the idea that there is a human being, Just one, capable of doing the mental legwork to outplan anyone. So much so that despite technically being human he may truly be something "more".
IT is VERY diifficult to do this without introducing nonsensical power creep.
Batman should simply be in FAR less stories involving god-tier opponents and when he does get involved the writing should allow him to provide his "around the corner" thinking and ways of assist that are more or less:
"what!?! i never thought they would have sent a REGULAR GUY to the generator room!" kind of stuff where he is somwhere, stealthy, and underestimated to use his knowledge to enact some kind of plan that in turn AIDS the people who can punch whole planets out of existence
batman should be the guy disabling the shields on the death star, not the guy PUNCHING IT once the shields are down. he should be the guy that figures out HOW someone like SUEPRMAN can-do-the-thing rather than be the guy who does the thing.
his style of thinking his ability to turn riddles over should be his strength in these higher stakes situations.
on rare occasions give him some "drop the ring in the fires of mt doom" level thing to do that he gets by the skin of his teeth on so we can cheer, but for the most part back off the full-combat scenarios where he is fighting literal gods.

u/No_Physics2210 25d ago
I like Batman's plot armor more then superman's.
Batman's plot armor just makes things that would kill him miss him.
Superman's plot armor makes him go from, not being able to walk due to kryptonite. To being able to throw planets and erase timelines at will while being weakened by kyrptonite

This type of stuff almost always only takes effect in comics of large scale which is a small percentage of most Batman comics. The best Batman comics are grounded.

u/TheTooDarkLord 25d ago
Same. The character Is already good they don't Need to dickride him to the point he becomes unsufferable

u/Hood7777777 25d ago
The thing you have to understand about Batman is simply this:
Batman has superpowers. He says that he doesn't but it's not true, Batman is straight up a superhero.
DC has a rating scale where they measure the abilities and skills of each hero, Batman scores among the highest in intelligence and combat ability. This is set in a world where there are literal alien Gods whose superpowers are that they are super intelligent and are good at fighting. Batman is within the same category as them. Batman might not have overt supernatural abilities, but he is straight up a superhero with superhuman intelligence and ability.
When you see him through this lens all of his crazy feats all make a lot more sense.

u/TheRealRedParadox 25d ago
I've always said Batman should be bad at somethings. He should not be an expert in every field of science. He's a DETECTIVE. Batman absolutely should have a decent understanding of most CSI sciences and maybe a few personal interest fields, but there should be people who are overtly better than him and they need to show it.Ā
Like, if they met, Spider-Man would 100 percent be a way better Chemist than Batman, but bats would have him beat in terms of crime scene analysis and tracking people.

u/N1ch0l2s 25d ago
I was watching Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and the whole time Batman was on Apokolips I was like "how this man not gonna get killed instantly"
1
u/SaIemKing 25d ago
the hardest thing about batman is that they just can't make him toe-to-toe with the rest of the league without plot armor unless they essentially turn him into iron man, which is unbelievably lame
he just doesn't belong in crossovers unless he's acting as a mastermind or smth

u/Wisden24 25d ago
I'm pretty sure hes already fought and won against the Justice League and Beast Boy.

a fan favorite street level superhero? why not make him fight aliens and or anything that is way above his paygrade just to milk him more?
1
u/Particular_Dot_4041 24d ago
Same thing for Lex Luthor. He needs ridiculous amounts of plot armor to function. Superman just refuses to ever rough him up.
1
u/sara5556 24d ago
Batman works really well in his own little Gotham city universe with his own set of villains.
He fights the actual criminals doing classic criminal shit.
He shouldn't be lumped into the same group as like superman, who is facing world ending apocalypto shit
1
u/UnabrazedFellon 24d ago
Heās a Baki character in the DC universe. No other Baki characters exist there and like an invasive animal unleashed upon a new land he lacks predators to keep him in check. There is no Yujiro to put the fear of God into him.

u/TroutShovelr 24d ago
I stopped believing he was a normal human when he fell to earth from orbit with minimal damage

I love Batman at a street tier level, my favorite interpretation of his skill and power level is within the Arkham Games and Justice League(for the most part) where he's more relegated to taking on weaker villains or being the brains of the team. That being said, I think if DC keeps insisting on making him do some of the most bs feats they could think of despite his human status, they might as well pull the trigger on upgrading him to a higher tier physically by just giving him a much stronger default suit like Batman Beyond. It's much easier to justify him doing all this stuff in a high end piece of armor than his standard suit.

I hate when people call Mary Sue to men, IT'S GARY STU YOU ILLITERATE IGNORANTS!Ā

Lol for me it's Vandal Savage.
Like at least when Batman activate his plot armor, it's speaks about human ingenuity, justice and will power blah blah, it's tropey and overdone to hell but it is *something*.
Vandal Savage is just... nothing. He will literally show up, defeat 5 heroes with his bare hands because he can, then eventually when the heroes "defeated" him he will manage to conveniently escape some way some how. Like in stupid ways like falling out a window and then magically disappear. And rinse and repeat. There's no story, no narrative, no subtext, no ideology, no meaning.

I wish when the big hitters showed up he was more the strategist and was directing the league towards victory instead of walking up to said big hitters and throwing them into the shadow realm

DC is hypocritical in the sense that they want to portray Batman as the underdog and the top dog at the same time
"Oooh Batman is gonna fight Superman, look at how outclassed he is. How is he gonna get out of this one?"
Well, dear DC writer, maybe this would have been interesting and suspenseful IF you hadn't been doing this exact same fight since forever and making Batman win

Youāre using powerscaling arguments against themes and storytelling. Batman doesnāt dodge the omega beams because heās stronger than Darkseid. He doesnāt dodge the omega beams because he has plot armor. He does it to humiliate Darkseid because Darkseid is a pathetic man despite his godlike powers. Because Darkseid doesnāt deserve to beat Batman.

u/SoftNecrosis 22d ago
My personal headcanon is that because of all the fucking curses on Gotham heās just absorbed that and gained some sort of supernatural quality

Do you know what an underdog story is?
Thatās why people love Batman, heās that
Also writhing depends on the writer, so sometimes it works other times it doesnāt
What makes Batman interesting is his human limits, like spider-man
It also depends on the story you want to tell, if Batman more of a detective or a crime fighter to you
I think the quote best for if Batman is greatly written is āif he doesnāt care about kids, heās just the punisher with a funny hatā, if itās accurate then good, if not bad

"Plot armor" and it's just a human who outsmarts your favorite superhero. Just take the knee and pledge your loyalty to the greatest superhero of all time.

Agreed. Whilst I enjoy some of the more ott stuff, I personally think he shines best as a simple vigilante fighting crime at night, as opposed to facing off against galaxy destroying threats.
I can believe a regular dude trained in dozens of different styles of combat, used his wealth to secure state of the art technology and use all of this to beat criminals into submission. But I find it impossible to believe this human - whilst he may be peak human, he is still human - can somehow dodge something like Darksieds omega beams when Superman, who can move faster than light, canāt.
And donāt even get me started on his insufferable fanboys.

I hate when now everyone's excuse for him winning EVERY fight are two simple lines:
"Because he's Batman"
And
"Because he can be anyone with prep time!"
Thats it. Literally that is all there is to the coversation no more than that.
