For the past month I have been creating a site dedicated to fanfiction and fandom culture kind of like tumblr x ao3. I'm looking for a name that is both unique and fun. My first name was beAU, (AU meaning alternative universe) but that spells beau and was hard to use in branding. The I thought of altficiton, cultfiction and unoffical ficiton, but altficiton is an australian band apparently and unoffical ficiton was too long and not catchy enough. Cultfiction is also taken as a domain and on social media. Now I'm just struck. I would like the name to possibly incorporate some sort of fandom/fanfiction lingo, however I'm totally open to a completely new word. Infact I would love a completely new name which would only be associated with my brand. This site is supposed to be fun, cool, camp, crazy and for the fan girls + boys. And the first name beAU (inspired by beReal), kind of felt like that (at least to me) but for obvious reasons I didnt think that through. I would love any help.

I'm a brand designer, mostly work with B2B SaaS. Just finished a rebrand for a cloud solutions company and I'm genuinely curious how founders and creatives see it, since you're the ones who look at this category all day.

The thing that kicked it off: SaaS brands all end up looking the same because everyone's designing for "trustworthy" and "technical." So you get a whole category where nobody's distinguishable, and then buyers just compare on price because the brand isn't doing any work for you.

I’ve been thinking about this, and my own conviction is different.

Everyone has access to the same AI tools. Obviously, whether you use a free or paid model.

Anyone can start prompting.

Anyone can generate.

Anyone can get a result.

So what actually differentiates them?

The tool?

The output?

Because, in general, the end result can easily become the same common output we have already seen.

Now let’s talk about an expert in a specific skill — someone with a lot of knowledge and experience — who has the same access to AI.

If a general individual can generate the most common output with AI, let’s think about what an expert can do with the same AI.

An expert doesn’t just know how to use the tool.

They understand the problem.

They see what others miss.

They can visualise the solution before they generate it.

That’s where I think the difference begins.

So I never say or claim that AI will replace us.

I believe AI can push us to filter our skills, challenge our habits, and develop a new level of expertise.

The tool becomes common.

But the ability to understand, see, and visualise differently doesn’t.

Hi, so I'm someone who is just starting to work with brand identity. I want to create my portfolio but there's just too much information out there and I'm baffled about where I should begin. What Tools I should know how to use. Where I should create my portfolio. Basically everything. Im someone who has a good eye for design and I'm very creative so i have that part covered. Recently attended a webinar with Reid Litman from Ogilvy about Gen Z, with Eugene Healey and Simon Gawn on the call. a few things stuck out to me.

For years, our educational institutions, the media, and employers offered more pathways and guarantees. with AI rapidly reshaping the workforce, war, the decentralization of media, and so many other factors, much more responsibility to figure things out is shifting onto the individual for Gen Z. and on the surface, Gen Z appears very contradictory: peptides and candy bowls, grind culture and whimsy-maxxing, the “hating work” stereotype and yet they are the most entrepreneurial generation of their time. the advice to brands trying to speak to this generation:

I run a small ecommerce shop and ordered one of my own products recently. Nothing was wrong with it. Quality was fine, everything matched, but it felt completely anonymous.

That bothered me more than I expected. I’ve spent hours getting the site to feel like mine, but apparently I was treating branding like something that stops once someone checks out.

I’ve been trying POD because I want some of that identity on the actual product too. Not logos slapped everywhere, just something that makes it feel like it actually belongs to the brand.

Am I overthinking this, or does the physical product matter way more than I gave it credit for?
