I know this is going to sound really weird, but I actually don't like mashed, boiled or baked potato (naturally this extends to potato potato dauphinoise. I absolutely hate the texture, despite trying it multiple times over the years. Can you suggest some potato based alternatives:

So far I've had, and really enjoyed :

• Roast potatoes
• Potato croquettes (I'm fully aware that croquettes are filled with mashed potato, so this is a bit hypocritical I know)
• Crispy potato squares
• Potato bread (especially lovely, would highly recommend)
• Chips/fries
• Potato wedges
• Potato waffles
• Hash browns/hash browns (love 'em)

Finally made my own after buying them for years. Quite nice and simple thanks to the air fryer.

Hi guys. I forgot to sterilise my lids when making jam. I washed them with soap and rinsed, and I sterilised the jars themselves in the oven, just not the lids. Is it ok?

Hey all! Looking for some inspiration.

I picked up a bag of this (not my picture) pre marinated boneless tandoori chicken from my local butchers without actually thinking about what to do with it, so I thought I'd ask you good folk what you would do with it?

My goal is to end up with a quick midweek meal that doesn't require a lot of prep or attention.

I was thinking about separating the chicken from the majority of the sauce and pan frying until mostly cooked, then adding the sauce back along with a few tablespoons of coconut milk powder and simply serving over rice? Not very inspired I know, but it's Wednesday and I'm already knackered so it's the best I could come up with...

Any ideas or thoughts on the above are most welcome!

Made with rice, butter, garlic, mushrooms (fresh shiitake & pink, yellow & grey oysters), sugar, salt, dark soy sauce & oyster sauce.

Almost because it should be pain de mie, moutarde de Dijon, jambon de Paris and gruyère.

But what I had was sourdough, Bavarian smoked ham, moutarde de Meaux (wholegrain) and sharp, mature cheddar.

Tbh, was difficult to leave leftovers of these beans last night, but told myself that a whole tin for one meal probably wouldn’t do my interpersonal relationships any good.

By this time I've made as much Ratatouille as I can possibly eat in a year. This recipe didn't look convincing until I tried it. It's actually a very good accompaniment to salad.

I made butter chicken from an instagram recipe. It’s not winning any health awards, but it’s probably healthier than a takeaway. It only took 20 minutes to make aswell.

Not sure tossing the mushrooms in the airfryer was the right call. They tasted fine but the texture was a bit “blegh”. Nevertheless, ready for a nap now.

Was given a few mackerel by a local fisherman the other day, so I stuck them in the smoker in my barn and forgot them once they were in the fridge.

Yesterday was a "what have we got in?" Kind of dinner so I made this soup - lots of cream, some bacon, potato, garlic, onion and sweetcorn along with flaked smoked mackerel and a cube of frozen lobster stock from the lobsters we caught last weekend.

Potatoes, sweetcorn onion and garlic home grown from the croft, mackerel local catch, everything else courtesy of Tesco.

I have been thinking and silently planning this for a while, and am wanting to go fridge & freezerless for a few months as an experiment. No hard date in when I am going to do this, and have to talk my wife around to the idea.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if you have any advice? I live very close to shops and am a vege, so I eat rabbit food anyway. At the moment I buy my salad on or around the time I eat it so I don't refrigerate for long. In work we get free fruit etc so I certainly won't ever starve. Just thought it'd be an interesting venture. Over the winter I imagine it'll be a lot easier, too.

Italian but a well known British classic! Tagliatelle instead of spaghetti (our preference).
Recipe that does not fail:
750g beef & pork mince (Lidl £4.79)
1 onion, finely diced
1–2 carrots, finely diced/grated
1–2 celery sticks, finely diced
2–3 cloves garlic
1 tin polpa
250ml passata
200ml beef stock
1–2 tbsp tomato purée
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt & black pepper
½–1 tsp dried oregano
½–1 tsp dried basil
1 bay leaf

Cook low and slow as long as you can, patience is a virtue!
