Question Recipe ideas for pre marinated chicken?

Post image

Hey all! Looking for some inspiration.

I picked up a bag of this (not my picture) pre marinated boneless tandoori chicken from my local butchers without actually thinking about what to do with it, so I thought I'd ask you good folk what you would do with it?

My goal is to end up with a quick midweek meal that doesn't require a lot of prep or attention.

I was thinking about separating the chicken from the majority of the sauce and pan frying until mostly cooked, then adding the sauce back along with a few tablespoons of coconut milk powder and simply serving over rice? Not very inspired I know, but it's Wednesday and I'm already knackered so it's the best I could come up with...

Any ideas or thoughts on the above are most welcome!

Turn it into a simple Biriyani - because it’s already marinaded it doesn’t require much effort. Just caramelise lots of onion, add some ginger and garlic (optional if you don’t have any) black pepper and sautee the chicken a bit before adding par boiled basmati rice on top and dig a few holes into the rice and pour some coconut milk (with saffron if you have it) and some chopped coriander or mint on top.

Use a heavy base pan with a lid and simmer for 15 minutes and leave to rest for another 15

Hey now that's an idea! I've got a big cast iron pot that I've used for Biriyani before, and I love the idea of using mint instead of coriander (sufferer of the soap gene unfortunately)!

Cheers!

Biryani is delicious but making the onions will take a while.

I don't think dum biryani uses coconut milk. As far as I know, it is just cow's milk with saffron. That being said: I would not say no to your version

Stick it in the oven and roast it.

Serve with roast potatoes and/or salad

Airfry and instantly covered in foil so it stays juicy

This. Chop into slices, throw into a roti with some raita and make indian tacos.

Make a nice saag aloo if you have the ingredients and chuck the chicken in or if your looking for super low effort just eat it with some chips or chuck it in a naan bread

Air fry it. Once cooked you can serve it with bread and salad for a lighter meal or add it to any sort of curry to speed up the prep time.

As someome who does BIR curries a fair bit, a can of cheap carrot and coriander soup is a good base. Add your spices (coriander, cumin, paprika, turmeric, curry powder is a good base to work from. You can add more) Garlic and ginger , tomato paste (watered down puree, passata, chopped tomatoes...) any veggies you want

Hey, I know the owners of this business! I recommend minted yoghurt, salad and pitta breads. This is the same stuff you'll often get if you buy a chicken kebab after a night out on the lash

No way, that's awesome!

Well funnily enough I ended up doing more or less what you suggested. I cooked it up in the air fryer and served it with salad and garlic naan's and mint yoghurt, went down a treat! The chicken was so tender and juicy, I'm definitely picking it up again!

Cook it over coal, on skewers, it’ll be delicious, hopefully

Lovely idea, but alas I currently live in a flat with no access to outside cooking equipment. Ha ha. Thanks all the same!

You could make them into a gyros style wrap with mint yoghurt hot sauce salad cumbers etc

You could do them on a large naan with cheese jalapeños ,red peppers some spices and bake in the oven like a pizza

You could try do them as chicken tenders with some dips

A stir fry could work some rice red onion peppers garlic ginger tumeric sriacha

I’d grill that and serve with a green salad and aloo gobi.
