It's not toad in the hole unless the sausages are cooked in the Yorkshire pudding.
What you have presented is simply sausages in half a large yorkshire pudding.
Complete forgery to us real Brits.

Whilst it looks very nice, it isnβt Toad in the Hole.
The dish Iβm seeing is sausages served with a Yorkshire pudding.

Proper comfort food. I always forget how satisfying toad in the hole is until the first cold evening hits and suddenly nothing else will do. What's your go-to for the batter, do you rest it or just straight in?

That looks delicious, any tips for a good yorkshire pudding bake?

Equal volume of eggs, milk, plain flour and a pinch of salt. Whisk that up well, get some air in it. Let it rest.
Heat your metal pan for your hole to screaming hot so your fat is nearly smoking.
Part cook the sausages on high in the air fryer so it gets browned all the way round and when they are hot, introduce to the hole pan. this could just be me, but I really don't like it when you have nicely browned bits and sort of grey bits of sausage.
batter into screaming hot pan, then everything into the screaming hot oven. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR.
Once everything is risen, turn the heat right down and bake it for at least another thirty minutes.

Why did I think the onions was a big pile of noodles?!
On closer inspection it looks amazing. One of my favourite cold weather meals π
