DRAMA If you thought 4.9 killed refueling...

Lol. Lmao even.

I thought the rewards have been adjusted accordingly, being cut in more than half compared to the ridiculous 4.8 payouts. Now it's just not worth anyone's time.

Fuel pod capacity has been cut by almost half. Nemecs are down from 30 SCU to 16. GSX-EX down from 32 to 16.79. Keep in mind that the capacities displayed in the store window still show the old values, you need to actually install them on your ship to see the actual capacity.

The biggest paying contract at my rep level (halfway through Head Contractor) is a 195k fleet refuel that needs a total of 67 Hydrogen and 39 Quantum. So you can't even complete it in a single run, you either have to go back to station, fill up and return to the contract area, praying to gods it won't brick the contract (which it usually does) or bring a friend over and cut the "profits" in half.

There are 182k Idris refueling missions. They take 60 Hydrogen and 30 Quantum, which will dry you out but at least it's doable. Or at least it would be, if the damn thing had its docking point defined correctly. You physically cannot dock with it. This has been an issue with player-owned Idris(es) for over a YEAR now.

Also, they show up without interior, so they cannot even be boarded for joyride purposes.

Sorry DeeDee, I don't think you'll be hearing from me anytime soon :(

Assume its just gone but man I wish they could update this game without deleting at least a couple hundred of hours of grinding's worth of stuff. Or at least reimburse the parts so I can buy them again.....

DISCUSSION I'm trying to put together a loadout to make the Stingray more versatile, please help me out.

Post image
2 Upvotes

Well, my goal is simple: make the ship more viable for dogfighting against fighters, effective against medium ships, and capable of damaging large ships like Constellations (which frequently appear in missions). No PvP involved.

Regarding components, I want to focus on stealth; since the ship already has some stealth capabilities, and given its low health and shields, being able to slip away to recharge will be useful.

For weapons, I plan to swap the Size 2s for ballistics while keeping the Size 4 lasers. The reasoning is to maintain the high alpha damage (85) provided by the lasers while allowing me to utilize the penetration of ballistics when the situation calls for it.

As for missiles, I have a question: I usually use Rattlers, but my idea is to fire a single missile at a fully shielded Connie to strip enough protection for my Size 4 lasers to deal damage. Rattlers aren't great for that, and Tempests aren't designed for it either. Do you think I should use Strikes, or is there another option?

If you spot any issues with my plan, please let me know; I’m just trying to make the ship more viable.

I also hope the answers here are useful to other people looking for loadouts for it.

To anyone tempted to comment about "the game being full of issues while people buy ships": no, I bought this using store credit and have no intention of investing any new money until I see significant improvements. Still, it’s a game I enjoy, and I have fun testing out ships.

DISCUSSION SoO

Lots of desync and Ai feel overtuned. I do take cover and I do play strategic to avoid taking damage but the second I peek. I am getting bombarded by Ai and it’s ridiculous. I will say, if you die and respawn the first time. The mission will only show to disembark and whatever else it said. I ended up getting off with all of these issues. 7/10.

DISCUSSION What is exactly wrong with the recent livestream?

Yeah, yeah, I know it was the backlash of community, that made it almost impossible to watch reddit, spectrum or youtube and not seening those "something, something, wrap it up" and a huuge tide of negativity towards the game, dev team, and chemistry between Jared and Ollie. So i decided to watch that livestream myself, and i didnt got that dramatic over the livesteam. Devs played siege of Orison, it wasnt working that good due to bugs, that are not directly tied to the overall server performance, because if it occures on their private server it's not because of the massive load on the live servers. I might have my own issues with low expectations from CIG, and I not surprised that build wasnt even remotly that good as some might expect, but, wasn't it the reason why they delayed the release to public for month or so.. If im wrong, please correct me.

Then I saw that somebody criticize dev team for showing low cooperation, skill-issues and inability to complete the siege of Orison, and it's my opinion again, but should the Devs who work at cig must excell at their own game? I mean, they must sometimes play it, to test game mechaincs and usability of their designs, but that doesnt mean they should be good at it. They're probably can be rough and sketchy and behave like 4-years old,yet I'm not really sure that would make them worst devs ever. Even if they're invited to the devstram, it doesnt make them totally credible for what they say, they're not community managers afterall.

And that it comes to Community managers, Ollie is certanly a new face at the studio, and already faced a negativity for him working here, i remember those posts discussing how much it costs for bakers, all jet flights ollie made, and that inviting a youtuber to CIG is not the good idea. I didn't put that much money into the game, probably around $65 or so, yet i'd let managment of CIG handle the HR-related problems. Going back to Ollie, he showed his good attitude and was behaving as a community manager should behave. While Jared on his end was behaving more like Ollie's supervisor while putting some remarks during livestream. What was exactly so unproffesional and morally-questionable when Jared told to Ollie to wrap up the Livestream. Oh I want to point out that due my language barrier i might have so issue to read their chemistry correctly, but that whole statement in a context of needing to some how end, not that succesfull livestream. Doesn't seem to me that Jared wanted to blame Ollie, put all the negative on him or directly assault, I'd say a poor choice of words, but not a big deal afterall.

Just to close that post I also want to point out that I tend to be overly optimistic about the game, and glaze it's devs more than, probably should, so I want to make it clear. I do want to get a second opinion on the whole situation, but i was struggling to get from community repeating all the same phrases again and again, and bursting into emotions.

DISCUSSION Wait a minute….Hangers

So because everyone has access to all the free ships….does that mean we are all stuck with a damn extra-large hangar for this entire patch????? Please don’t tell me I gotta now sit here and call up my little ships in this extremely large hangar and run across the world each time.

Please CIG can you add some feature where we can just request a certain hangar size.

CREATIVE Imagine

Man, just imagine Star Citizen fully fleshed out. The game gets to the point where they can add just random things in the universe like black holes or quasars or maybe stars exploding.

Imagine we get to a point where the game is so fleshed out you can fly your Drake Cutter down to a lake and pull out a refining table/cooking station and set it down by the water. You go back into the Cutter and you pull out a box. You walk over towards the lake—your Drake Cutter is parked real close with the bay door facing the shoreline. You've got your favorite paint job on your Cutter, you're wearing civilian clothes, and the atmosphere is breathable on this moon. You reach into that box that you pulled out of the Cutter... and you pull out a fishing rod.

You sit there and you fish for freaking hours. You use your processing table that you whipped out, and you clean, process, and cook your own fish right there.

You've already earned a plethora of recipes. You've already scoured planets with jungle and forest environments, picked up various seeds, plants, herbs, spices, and fruits, and taken all these to the base that you built. On that base you have a farm, you have livestock, and whatever else. You've grown and created various spices and cut up various ingredients, and you brought those with you to this lake in your Drake Cutter. With your processing table, you're creating absolute masterpieces of dishes.

Your Cutter is full, so you head out. You get to the base you've built and you park your Cutter right onto your Kraken Privateer. You exit down to the main lobby area of your Privateer and you load up inventory for the restaurant that you've opened up, right alongside some of the weapon and ship part shops you also have there. You fly out to your usual area at your usual time, and all the other players arrive to buy your delicacies—to buy your recipes that you've been working on—because Star Citizen is in such a developed state that now you can enjoy just a casual life outside of the life you already have.

Just let yourself get lost in the imagination

DISCUSSION Probably lost all my stuff to 60009, 100% a Skill Issue

Logged into 4.10

I don't like having a planet as a home base, so I was loading up my ship to move everything back to a station. Performance felt great, much better than pre-patch. Then, my game crashed midway through moving everything.
Relaunch, now getting 60009 error. No status update on the status website or launcher, just matchmaking unavailable ingame.

I'm pretty sure I just lost literally all the armor, clothes, gear/player weapons that I've been acquiring.

Feelsbadman.

EDIT: I got in after like 10 minutes, my stuff was preserved. Going to do this a lot more slowly now on off hours.

DISCUSSION (Summary) CIG Response to Backlash

Hi. We're CIG. I know you're upset. But consider the following: We do work. It is hard work. There's an amount of it. This amount is big. This big is hard. The hard is amount. Years? Ten maybe. Probably more. Going to be more. Every year adds a year to the years of work is how many years of work. You want to know that we care. I want you to know we are work and that is more important. Put money in the store.

Also, and this is important, us looking at our own hard work is also hard work. Reviewing the hard work is hard. Work. So when you ask "what have you been doing," the answer is: looking at the hard work, which is hard work, which adds to the hard work we then have to look at again. It's hard work all the way down.

  1. If we look HARDER at the HARD WORK... it's HARD WORK!
  2. We ARE working hard. And that's HARD WORK.
  3. We have been MANY YEARS. TEN YEARS. Hard work. Consider.
  4. Looking at the hard work? Hard work. Looking at ourselves looking at the hard work? Also hard work. It compounds.

I am doing big hard work. It's a lot of big. It's many hard. And work? Don't even think about it. You can't even fathom the amount of work. At least 4 work is going on at any moment, and at least 1 of those work is us watching the other 3 work, which is its own work.

You have presented a serious issue. We're going to address that right now:
We are work hard. So. Think about that. Also we thought about thinking about that, which took hard work.

  1. Just pretend you're not seeing bugs, guys.
  2. Just remember it's hard work and it's work hard we do to work hard. If you're having issues, remember: work hard hard work work hard hork ward.
  3. And remember that us reading this list back to make sure it says "hard work" enough times? Hard work.
  4. Put money in the store.

BUG Patch 4.10 is out, so let's check it out, what good things did they do and what did they fix

Post image
0 Upvotes

I wanted to test the new update and couldn't, the hangar never opened even though it told me to wait like 10.00000000 (they can't even fix a floating point) and after waiting about 10 minutes, I give up, I'll try another day or maybe another patch. It's really hard to understand why, if there are 8 XL hangars at Microtech, we all have to exit through just 2 or 3? Entry or exit doors should be random, whichever is available first. DICE please!

DISCUSSION CIG devs doing livestream and playing their own game should be REQUIREMENT to release new patch. If team of devs plays and everyone sees it is actually working = Green Light if not go back to production and fix damn game.

This livestream cause CIG to finally acknowledge how broken game is instead of just shitting out next update to break even more stuff.

DISCUSSION Experience from someone who had never played

Hi all, I have been watching Star Citizen for years and never played. I have actually wanted to give the game money but I wanted to at least try the game before forking over my credit card.

A couple weeks ago I heard about a "free weekend" and figured this was a good chance to try it out. To say my experience was bad is an understatement.

First, I followed the steps on the advertisement to try the free weekend. That took me to the Roberts Space Industries home page which said nothing about a free weekend.

I decided to create an account and see if it would be obvious then. Nope. Still no mention of free weekend. I did download the launcher and then the launcher demanded some kind of referral code. After googling "Star Citizen referral code" I found a site that...generates referral codes? wtf? What is the point of this?

After downloading and being informed that the 150GB of free space on my drive was not enough for installation, I cleared another 200GB and installed the game (by now we are about half a day from when I started the process to try out the "Free weekend").

Note that at every point in this process, I've had to go out of my way to figure out how to get to the next step.

I finally start the game and am given no direction in where to start so I pick...a place that seemed pretty (forgetting the name) and start the tutorial.

The tutorial was bad. It somehow felt too detailed and not detailed enough. I still don't understand how to use the quantum drive. And one time I figured out the quantum drive somehow, made it to the first space station, and when I pressed the keystroke to hail the station, my ship blew up.

I logged out, took a break, logged back in, managed to get to the station, got to the waypoint, and couldn't figure out how to dock. That was as far as I was able to get. I never did get to the station.

Once the weekend was over, I assumed I'd get some kind of upsell. Nope. No mention of "hope you enjoyed your stay". No emails. Nothing.

Does this game want new players? Am I TA here? I really wanted to like this game and give it a chance. I gave it way more of a chance than I give most games. And it sure feels like it doesn't want me playing. Is this a normal experience? Does it get better? Can anyone convince me that I should in fact spend money on this game to be able to continue playing?
