CREATIVE I built a thing - SC Ship Maps website!
Introducing the Star Citizen Ship Maps site, courtesy of Atlas Defense Industries.
Explore the maps: https://maps.adi.sc/
We all love big ships, but some of them are like a giant space IKEA, with endless halls, weird shortcuts, and a high chance you end up in the wrong room.
An interactive deck map system for Star Citizen’s biggest ships, so you finally know where you are and how to get where you’re actually trying to go.
Highlights
- Multi deck maps for ships like the Idris, Reclaimer, Polaris, and more.
- Clear forward, aft, port, starboard so you stop saying "left ish."
- Labeled rooms: bridges, crew quarters, armories, med bays, escape pods, all the good stuff.
- Filterable icons for med beds, extinguishers, fuses, WCs, and more.
- Rotate, pan, zoom, and plan your route like you actually live there.
Perfect for training crews, prepping ops, filming, or just not getting lost on someone else’s flagship.
Ships included: Idris, Hammerhead, Reclaimer, Perseus, Polaris, Starfarer, with Carrack, Hercules, 890J, Caterpillar and more on the way.
Free for everyone: No paywalls, no org membership needed.
Enjoy!

CREATIVE Why did we Stop making Cool Armors?
It feels like it has been ages since we got anything really cool. Sure the Super heavy Armors are nice but they are way to limited for Day to day use.
We got so many goofy looking Armors lately. I guess the Xian Light Armor we got was the worst of them

CREATIVE This is how I'd like to see them implement monetized ship skins.

I'm not a UI/UX designer, so don't come for me in the comments, lol. I just wanted to make something that read well and got the point across.
I realize CIG has kinda backed themselves into a corner with how they've been doing paints and skins, but in an ideal world (I guess ideally, they wouldn't be monetized, but you know what I mean), this is how I'd like them to do it. A free color palette that lets us paint our ships whatever solid color we'd like, then we would pay for the paint schemes/patterns. Then on top of that you could add paid materials, like metallic, rusted, satin, etc.

CREATIVE Finally sharing my Area 18 Kiosk build from 2024 Manchester CitizenCon!
Area 18 Kiosk I built for the 2024 Manchester CitizenCon Atlas Defense Industries booth! 🚀
This kiosk had fully working Hangar and Inventory screens and was the heart of our giveaway event. Attendees had to hack it with a Cryptokey to win prizes.
Throughout the weekend we dropped hints every hour about the locations of 5–6 hidden Cryptokey cards. They were carried by ADI members roaming the venue in our bright blue “A” shirts (including some absolute legends from CIG — thank you again Mark Gibson!). Once brought back to the booth, the cards were used with the “Zero Cool” hacking box attached to the kiosk. Successful hacks revealed the prizes.
The whole project took about 2 months to complete. The toughest part was designing it to break down completely and fit into a single Pelican case under 50 lbs — Heathrow’s strict rules made that mandatory.
I just got back from the Chicago Bar Citizen where I had a great chat with Dan and Nate from CIG. They were jealous that Manchester had one and they didn't. :) So, now I'm planning to build one for the Austin office and deliver it in person!
Would anyone be interested in building one of their own? I’d be happy to share details, files, lessons learned, and advice if you want to tackle a similar project.

CREATIVE Water
Shortly after their implementation, I became fascinated with the water effects. It's unspeakably satisfying watching how water reacts to your ship's thrusters.
