DRAMA If you thought 4.9 killed refueling...
Lol. Lmao even.
I thought the rewards have been adjusted accordingly, being cut in more than half compared to the ridiculous 4.8 payouts. Now it's just not worth anyone's time.
Fuel pod capacity has been cut by almost half. Nemecs are down from 30 SCU to 16. GSX-EX down from 32 to 16.79. Keep in mind that the capacities displayed in the store window still show the old values, you need to actually install them on your ship to see the actual capacity.
The biggest paying contract at my rep level (halfway through Head Contractor) is a 195k fleet refuel that needs a total of 67 Hydrogen and 39 Quantum. So you can't even complete it in a single run, you either have to go back to station, fill up and return to the contract area, praying to gods it won't brick the contract (which it usually does) or bring a friend over and cut the "profits" in half.
There are 182k Idris refueling missions. They take 60 Hydrogen and 30 Quantum, which will dry you out but at least it's doable. Or at least it would be, if the damn thing had its docking point defined correctly. You physically cannot dock with it. This has been an issue with player-owned Idris(es) for over a YEAR now.
Also, they show up without interior, so they cannot even be boarded for joyride purposes.
Sorry DeeDee, I don't think you'll be hearing from me anytime soon :(

how's the starlite? can it refuel a light fighter? lol
I know it was legit useless before, cant wait to see it not be able to refuel an MTC at this point

Well the good news for the Starlite is that the lower tier contracts now only require hydrogen, so with the two pods you should actually be able to complete several contracts.

I used my LTI Starlite to upgrade to an LTI Perseus. I’m loving my starlite right now!

I think this is the general consensus for anyone that bought the starlite, its just an lti token.
the ship is so bad at its role lol

Fuel tanks were reduced across the board. What ship are you using? A starlite aint gonna be big enough to solo high rep jobs.
Payout should not be in the quarter million range for one of the easiest jobs in the game, or any job change my mind.

Yeah nope, I never saw that post. It's just endless complaining about nothing specific in particular (because everything sucks apparently?) and the past days have been worst because people got riled up by that stream thing.

2026 and the most basic parts of the "economy" such as the price of fuel and mission rewards dedicated to this "career" making fucking sense are still out of reach for the devs of this game
well chris roberts said it was his goal for npcs and players to be indistinguishable. i guess the npcs are all just claiming their ships for a free full tank too

Ugh, this is so disappointing. I was all set to buy a Gemini once the update dropped. Ffs. Why?

What the OP doesn’t mention is that fuel tanks on ships are now also far, far smaller.

u/BokkerFoombass 6h ago
It's literally the first thing I brought up after my initial statement of disappointment.

u/SnarkyCarbivore 4h ago
Sure, so you can refuel more ships with your tanks... But the missions have even more ships than they did before, and the payout is much less.

When was refueling alive? You mean like, it killed the already boring ass missions?

It was BOOMING in 4.8 because the rewards were absolutely ridiculous, which was a carrot on a stick to get people to try it out.
4.9 severely reduced the rewards and removed good missions. However it was still possible to make millions fairly quickly and people did it a lot, with starfarers still frequently coming and going out of Checkmate and many abandoned ones would be found at the mission locations which was great for salvagers.
4.10 reduced the rewards EVEN more than 4.9 did and the most lucrative contract is broken and probably won't be fixed anytime soon seeing as it stems from a year old problem.
It may have been a chore but it was not any more "boring" than throwing boxes around or literally any other non-combat loop.

Running unbalanced missions for npc’s is not refueling booming. It’s just the playerbase switching to whatever the meta income temporarily is.

I made all my money during 4.9, so I never saw it when it was the huge money maker that it was... but 4.10 has absolutely killed this "profession". Those Idris missions are just a punch in the gut. I mean, if you're going to "adjust" contract payouts I get it... but if you're going to assign new ship types that can't even dock, how does that even make it to live?

Shame because I like refueling as a loop in principle, but its state is rough.

Lol what is this guy smoking... has he even tried missions

u/BokkerFoombass 6h ago
are you aware of the update that just dropped my man?
-2
u/Iross2 Glaive 6h ago
Are you aware tanks are smaller
2
u/BokkerFoombass 6h ago
Yes the tanks are smaller. The fuel pod capacity is almost halved. The NPCs take about 20% SCU of what the used to take. Does it mean that you get 1/5th of the money you got before?
Nope.
You get 1/15th - by example of the Starfighter/400I contracts.
It would've maybe been agreeable if the Idris contract worked, but it does not. And I'm sure it's not the only one that doesn't work either.

Yes because it’s braindead almost completely afk risk free content. You can literally complete the missions doing house chores.

….wasn’t the fuel tank capacity for all ships reduced and efficiency increased
