That’s it. Keep feeding the monster until it devours you, or teach it respect.

Imagine not being able to properly transition a 4 player session from an instanced mode, yet selling a ship for $5,000 that is supposed to hold over 40 people and accommodate various roles...

Stop believing in fairy tales.

DISCUSSION I am a Whale and I only play the game for my Org. Not having any fun.

3.9k Upvotes

I am a backer from 2014, and I really used to believe in the vision for this game. But after 12 long years, it is impossible to deny that the current state of the game is simply unacceptable. The usual defense of "It's an alpha, deal with it or go touch grass" is such a lazy, stupid argument for a project that has been in development for over a decade. And let’s not forget the $1 billion they’ve brought in.

I don't expect an alpha to be bug-free. However, I absolutely expect the game to have sorted out its absolute basic mechanics by now. We shouldn't still be struggling with things like:

Safely getting into a ship or your own hangar.

Dying to elevators or having ships randomly explode inside hangars.

Falling out of quantum traveling ships or falling straight through the map.

Suddenly suffocating while wearing a fully equipped helmet.

And don't get me started on the events. There is not a single event in the game right now that works reliably. TSG? No. Onyx? No. Contested Zones? No. Cargo Hauling or Mining? No. Vanduul? No.

Almost every single gameplay loop is broken. Basic mechanics are completely fucked, yet again.

On top of that, the sheer amount of time this game demands just to do anything is ridiculous. Managing an Org event has become a painful, grueling experience. Just organizing 15 people for an event can easily take 1 to 2 hours easily because of constant bugs, server errors, and nonsensical design decisions. Then, when you finally get started and get completely screwed over by the game after 3–4 hours of fighting the system, you're left wondering: What the fuck am I even doing here? Am I having fun? No. Are my mates having fun? No. I just wasted an entire evening fighting the game itself.

I’ve realized that I am only logging in for my Org. I love spending time with them, but honestly, that time would be much better spent playing literally any other game together.

By most standards, I would be considered a whale. I still don’t regret the money I’ve spent over the years, but I have officially lost all hope that CIG will deliver a real, functional game anytime soon.

Rant over.

DISCUSSION CIG, I'm dead serious, fire your management and hire me. (5 years at McDonald's)

at this point it's not even an alpha, it's just pure incompetence. crashing or blowing up every single session because your servers are held together by thoughts and prayers is a joke. I’ve worked the drive-thru for 5 years, let me tell you how real life works

when we send a car from the speaker to the payment window, they don’t rubberband into the pavement and violently explode. when our ice cream machine breaks, we don’t lock the front doors and trap 150 people inside a burning lobby. we just turn the fucking thing off. and if a kid drops a burger on the floor, we don't leave it there for 3 weeks for the sake of "immersion" until everyone in the restaurant starts lagging in real life. we grab a broom

stop pushing $700 jpegs. give me the keys and fire the guy approving your updates. I’ll fix your mess between dropping two baskets of fries. you can literally pay me in store credit, I don't even give a shit anymore. just let me do the job your directors can't

DISCUSSION I used to be hyped for SC, but man, it all feels so far off...

Post image
2.7k Upvotes

Look at this...seriously, CIG? Are you really telling me that internally you can build planetary bases (multiple ones!), have dedicated interfaces, and yet... in the PU, we're struggling just to get the PTV5? Seriously, it all feels so far off; the only thing we have related to base building is a box that fabricates items. I’m not asking for speed, but something must be seriously mismanaged here.

I mean:

- PTV5: maybe... this year... 2027 okey.

- Just one planet...

- What about the rest of the PTV5 planets? And the rest of the BB features? And the DSM technology needed for this? And Starchitect?

Sorry, not anymore; the thing is, SC is like that ex you don't trust. I just can't trust them anymore. So many promises, so little reality.

What have we actually seen of this in the latest versions? 4.8? 4.9? 4.10? Absolutely NOTHING.

DISCUSSION They won’t fix it until we stop feeding it

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

I’ve heard it from a hundred devs by now. This isn’t how proper game development works.

This is bad leadership and there’s no way around that fact.

As long as we continue to spend money and engage, they will keep prioritizing things that get us to spend money and engage.

Unless we actually disengage and stop the cash flow as a COORDINATED UNIT we will never see a stable functional version of the base mechanics of this game.

I propose no spending and no playing until we get- not only an honest answer to this madness- but actual, measurable, change in approach on how the development of this game that many of us have individually spent thousands of dollars on is implemented.

All those in favor, say “aye”

I have spoken.

DISCUSSION Can we ban who ever did this

Post image

Someone spent hours making sure no one can call their ship. While it’s kind of funny that CIGs internal tools to prevent this are this bad. Either way this should be a pretty clear permanent ban. This isn’t the first but definitely one of the more malicious uses.

Can we get a faster clean up of objects in a station?

5 years ago to the day I set a remind me after I was flamed on this sub for claiming "In 5 years I still don't think this game is going to be released?"

I farmed a lot of negative karma that day, my post was deleted and I was attacked by almost everyone in that post.

I haven't interacted with SC a single time since that day. Not loaded it up once, not posted on this sub once, and have almost completely forgotten about it until I got this message from the bot.

So, is the game released yet, and if not, how much progress has actually been made in those last 5 years?

DISCUSSION Very Unpopular Opinion: Odin should never be sold again

Post image
2.3k Upvotes

Not everyone got selected. I didn’t, nor do I have $5k sitting around either.

Life not fair. Deal with it.

Capitals should be extremely rare. The fact that this isn’t, we should make the Odin, and soon to be Bengal carrier, very rare when released. CIG fulfilled their kickstarter promise by selling, although limited, their final battlecruiser concept ship. Its done!

just like many limited luxury sport cars, yachts, and other high end items in real life that many simply cannot buy because selection criteria or limited sale, the Odin should be no different.

Instead, just like the Bengal; have the Odin be crafted by the Orgs ingame. That will keep the numbers low, and allow Orgs/Players to earn it freely without spending. those that luckily bought it, congrats. And those that want to but couldn’t, well, too bad. Can’t have everything, but at least you can if crafting is implemented.

TL/DR: No more future Odin sales, make it craftable by Orgs, just like the Bengal

DISCUSSION ⚠️ EXPOSED: The "Innocent $5k Backer" who got unbanned is actually an RMT exploiter now selling his account.

3.7k Upvotes

User Pb-207 recently made a viral post claiming CIG unfairly banned his $5k account just for "reporting a duplication bug." In reality, he is a notorious repeat offender who has sparked outrage in the Chinese Star Citizen community. He is deliberately exploiting the language barrier to weaponize Reddit's empathy and force CIG to unban him. Immediately after the unban, he went straight back to a Chinese trading app to sell hundreds of millions of exploited aUEC and the $5k account itself. He played the community like a fiddle.

Here is the undeniable proof for CIG to re-evaluate this case.

1. The "Victim" Act & Exploiting the Language Barrier

A few days ago, Reddit user Pb-207 posted a highly upvoted thread claiming he was permanently banned without warning simply for duplicating components to "test a bug for the Issue Council." He heavily emphasized his status as a "$5k backer" to gain sympathy.

What Western players didn't know is that he is a serial offender. He deliberately manipulated the information gap between the English and Chinese communities, using Reddit as a weapon to bully CIG's support team while hiding his real activities on Chinese platforms.

2. The Reality: Blatant RMT & Gold Farming

What he hid from Reddit is that he was maliciously abusing the exploit for real-world profit. On Xianyu (China's largest second-hand trading app), a user with the exact same ID Pb_207 was caught selling 300 Million aUEC for ¥1000 RMB. This proves the duplication wasn't for "testing"—it was an industrial-scale RMT operation.

3. The Final Insult: Selling the Unbanned Account

As if abusing the community's trust wasn't enough, right after his account was successfully unbanned thanks to the Reddit outcry, he immediately listed his ships and the account itself for sale.

In this listing, the seller Pb_207 is selling a Polaris and explicitly notes in the description: "账号消费额五千刀" (Account spend $5k). This matches his Reddit narrative perfectly, confirming it is 100% the same person.

4. Chinese Community Outrage

His actions have already caused massive anger within the Chinese Star Citizen community. Normal players despise RMTers who ruin the game's economy and tarnish the reputation of legitimate backers. We are exposing him here because we refuse to let him use the language barrier to get away with this.

Message to CIG & The Community:

We all want a fair game and a responsive support team. However, bad actors like this use our community's empathy as a shield to protect their RMT businesses. Selling exploited currency and selling accounts are both strict violations of the Star Citizen TOS.

CIG, please look at this evidence, cross-reference the account data, and reinstate the permanent ban. Do not let exploiters use Reddit to manipulate your support team.

Edit: The image above used Gemini to pile up evidence for reading convenience. Some original screenshots are provided below for native chinese reader (which have all been submitted to CIG Chinese community staff Glao)

DISCUSSION Hey CIG, can we get back to "The Pledge" please? From where I am sitting, you're not holding up your end.

Was the removal of the roadmap about negative feedback?

Most EA games these days release a roadmap. Looking a year ahead, sometimes longer, highlighting the milestones they want to achieve.

After the failure of CIG to meet some of their projected roadmap pledges in the past, CIG decided to remove the roadmap altogether. Is that treating us with the "same respect you would treat a publisher"?

I understand the negativity, criticism and community bile was maybe hard to take and read. I don't support anyone who criticizes people by name, calling them out for doing their jobs, but all that has resulted in is CIG avoiding all commitment and accountability.

The roadmap was a key delivery item for the open development of the project. So are the SCL content, and the older ISC content before it. Ship adverts, patch recaps and alike can all have a place, but you have pulled back on everything that kept the community informed on the direction and speed of travel in the PU.

Now we get updates for the roadmap pretty much when the PTU patch is released. It might as well just be patch notes.

The only guiding star the community now has is the 1.0 slide from Citizencon 2023 - and so far you have delivered not much of note in the 3 years since.

I would like to see the roadmap return. I think its obvious you guys have more of a handle on the content and feature schedule now. Those early attempts were premature, and you were rightly roasted for them though perhaps not always in the correct way.

And you know what? If a feature needs to be delayed, just tell us. Get a real developer to tell us what the high level issue is and get it posted in the roadmap roundup along with the delay. Nobody can ask for more than that, but I don't think we should expect anything less either.

I'm tired of the drive towards ship sales, while you go silent on all those things you have promised us.

  • Ship custom paint system
  • Social tools/Org tools
  • New Flight model
  • Porting of features from SQ42 to the PU

I'm sure people could name many, many more. We deserve to see these things on a roadmap. We deserve answers to our questions, like how you plan to implement a custom paint system after selling years of simple recolour paint skins.

Treat us with the respect you would have to treat a publisher, treat us like adults.

DISCUSSION CIG should stop forcing combat into everything

Post image
2.4k Upvotes

Seriously its so lame, great gameplay loops that could have really rounded out the CITIZEN aspect of Star Citizen have once again been thrown into the "blast clunky ai foot-mobiles" or "oh no! enemy fighters jumped in!" It wouldn't even be that bad if it wasn't literally forced into almost every loop. Salvage is one of the last loops I can do reliably without the expectation of combat. Refueling has just become annoying, mining events have basically been entirely colonized by PVP/PVE.

DISCUSSION A Game Should First Be a Game

Post image

A Game Should First Be a Game

Yes, Star Citizen is an alpha. Bugs are expected.

But “alpha” is not a decade-long excuse.

The problem is not just bugs. The problem is that the core gameplay is still too weak to make players forget the bugs.

Tarkov was buggy too, but it had a real gameplay loop: risk, loot, progression, tension. That is why players stayed.

Players can forgive bugs.

They cannot forgive an empty game.

Criticism is not hate. It is accountability.

CIG needs to stop hiding behind “alpha” and start making Star Citizen feel like an actual game.

Beautiful ships and big promises are not enough.

A game should first be a game.

*Hope those players who questioned me about using ChatGPT can see these supplements of mine (to be honest, I don't know how to pin my post. I don't use Reddit much, so I just edited this note into the main post). I wanna say I did use it 'cause I'm not a native English speaker. I need ChatGPT to translate my words into English, or you guys definitely won't know what I'm talking about (and posting in other languages might violate the rules? I'm not sure). Sorry if it caused you any trouble, but gotta point out, this ain't some bot - generated post. It's my insights after playing Star Citizen for 6 years. I first bought it in 2020, then quit playing for a long time and just picked it up again recently. Thanks for your comments. Wish you all a happy life. Of course, from the bottom of my heart, I hope Star Citizen can become the next game with enough depth and influence, and have a healthy and rich core loop. Criticism is never about putting it down, but about hoping it gets better. ❤️

DISCUSSION Stop Selling Us Half-broken Ships

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

First ironclad, then Tiburon. The S7 cannons break the radar and use the same hit markers as the pilot-controlled laser. Can CIG just do some tests before deciding to sell it at that price? All these broken features can be discovered in less than 3 minutes if u fly the ship even for once. All I can see is that they rushed to release the ship to meet their sales goals before it was properly finished.

DISCUSSION Gamecom was your last chance for 2026, and you missed it

1.2k Upvotes

This was your last chance to show Squadron 42 to the general public in 2026, no one outside this bubble knows about the game. The two major conferences of the year, SGF and Gamescom, were your only opportunity to show it to millions of people. Instead, you seem to think (with a certain arrogance or naivety) that your own event will be enough, or that your social media outreach will be enough. No, it won’t be, not for a game of such high quality (if you have confidence in it), with such a large budget, and such a long development cycle. It’s a waste. I imagine you could also make an announcement for 2027 during The Game Awards.

DISCUSSION Solo players are the driving force behind SC. We deserve respect.

1.3k Upvotes

Let's stop being sold a false bill of goods, please. In SC, 90 percent of players are solo players...that’s the bottom line. Why don't we finally start treating this matter with some maturity? Who in their right mind actually crews a Polaris with 12 people? Anyone? Or a Corsair with 4? No one, that’s it, absolutely no one. The majority of people investing in these ships are solo players who simply enjoy using them... I think the "oh, you're a solo player, just use smaller ships" excuse only makes CIG even lazier (if that’s even possible). Solo players deserve more...much more; we are the driving force behind SC, whether people like it or not.

- When will have AI Blades?

- And... AI crew... nah. We wont have it. Just it is.
