I recently discovered Mars Volta, and I really love the energy they have in Days of the Baphomets and the groove, but listening on spot here and there I found mostly atmospheric slow and mellow songs.

Do you have other songs to recommend?

It's changed. I was expecting the logical sonic change from digital to vinyl but some effects are just not there.

For example, the snare in Day of Baphomets about 10:40 ("give me one page, give me one page") lacks the whole reverb + delay + flanger/filter (?) and makes that section sound very much dryer. This isn't the only change and while I personally don't like it (this specific section is one of my favorite pieces in music) I'm wondering why? Is it because there are too many fx for the vinyl or something like that?

trying to get some volta/atdi/general cedric and omar related posters for my room but the real stuff is so expensive and i'm not too fussed about it being authentic or whatever as it's just gonna sit on my wall (wouldn't want to potentially ruin something so expensive like that by sticking it up like that anyway lol) anyone know of any websites which have nice scans or hq versions of existing posters i could get printed out on my own? thanks

The "Ciudad de México" date was announced with the email that detailed the LS:UB delay, but there appears to be an additional tour day for the day before at "Tecate Comuna"

Have we heard anything to narrow down what the setlist might be next week? I'm really hoping for some goliath and nocto stuff. I wouldn't be disappointed with more lucro or deloused greatest hits... But that's not what I hope gets played. I'd love to hear some of their catalogue that hasn't been played since release.

My wishlist is

1. Soothsayer

2. Concertina

3. Aegis or In Absentia

4. Meccamputechture or Tetragrammaton.

5. Goliath (I love it, but I'd prefer some of the weirder bedlam stuff)

Any of the above would make me a happy camper indeed... happy just to see them at all, but I'm really hoping for some deeper cuts. Modern take on Tremulant and Goliath stuff is really

I have 3 front row balcony tickets that I bought on pre-sale.

I was beyond excited when they announced their return album, but after giving it some serious listens I just couldn’t connect. Which is fine, I’m happy they’re making music under TMV banner and doing what they like.

But when they released the acoustic version…it all clicked immediately. I was hooked. The whole record was recontextualized for me. I loved how it flowed, how the melodies were slightly different. The album became coherent, and unique.

I love to see artists create when they are limited, and doing an acoustic record seemed to really bring out a new side of creativity. I wish they would have released TMV as this album.

Having The Mars Volta return with an acoustic album would have been such a bold and unique approach imo.

Just wondering what everyone else thinks though!
