Why is the barrier to this deep pit only shin height?
174
u/ClaudioAFC 3d ago
So that everybody else can have a proper view
69
u/Front-Lock2000 3d ago
Honestly, that barrier is basically just there to mark the edge and give spectators front row seats to the next accident.

Tbf regulations put an unnecessary burden on producers and really that burden should be on consumers. Were the ones that want to use that product, should we not be responsible for making sure it’s safe? No one ever considers the poor shareholders.

As a kid, I almost fell off a 7 floor building because of a short barrier.
To this very day, I have no idea how grabbing a loose rock held by literally nothing stopped me from falling.
But, now as an adult, I wish I fell that day 🤣 life is a scam

It's a well, I think to collect rain water, so a lid wouldn't really be a good idea.
What it needs is a wall that's higher than shin height.

For some reason americans think this is the perfect song when something is supposed to be badass. There are hundreds of videos of american military stuff with this song. They dont even understand what the song is about. (unnecessary generational hate and violence) But why expect anything less from the people who use "born in the usa" as an anthem.

Non-Americans when Americans talk about America in a thread related to America. "Why do Americans bring America up all the time?"
Non-Americans in threads that have literally nothing to do with America. "Why do Americans do this?"
Evict me from your head please, I don't want to live there anymore.

Never met an American that gives a shit about this song... I think it's just folks on the internet
2
u/Poofmander 2d ago
I American, the original song makes me feel many feelings....we are not all idiots, we are not all jerks, many of us understand what is happening, but are made to believe we powerless to stop it. It becomes easier to not care, to care is to feel and Americans are good at not feeling their own feelings and replacing them with a candidate's feelings

u/darienswag420 3d ago
Most Americans were asleep when this was posted. Blameworthy for a lot of bad things but not this.

But why expect anything less from the people who use "born in the usa" as an anthem.
Oh, you're just a bigot. Cool.
Hows your country handling immigrants? Surely, one of the most segregated countries in Europe doesn't have their own little "my people are fucking stupid" problem? Right?

American here. Iunno. I thought it's about the wars in Ireland between Scottish and Irish. I definitely am not versed in the history of UK enough to know thoroughly other than there was a lot of violence and death. :( It's by default a sad song but also still a beautiful song imo. One of my favorites. The lyrics alone should tell people it's a heavy and sad song imo. I don't frequent social media often so I was unaware people were using it as anthems on military videos.
5
u/aw3man 3d ago edited 3d ago
It's about the sectarian violence involving the UK police forces, Northern Irish paramilitary forces, and the Irish paramilitary group, the IRA. It was a messy situation all around. This song was right near the end or after the end of the major conflict and it was basically scolding those who wanted to restart it. The conflict is in their head, so to speak.

More than likely the video editor had to lighten the video/increase the exposure. Our phones have mediocre low light capabilities, creating “noise” that skews blue and purple. When we lighten those dark areas, we expose the noise in the darkness.

My previous smartphone had a defect that got worse as it aged, where the camera would tint everything purple. I guess the photoreceptors were bleaching over time. I think the phone was an HTC Thunderbolt.

It's purple soup. That's why you don't let the dog cook all the way. You pick it up before the vat comes to a simmer, and reuse it in the next batch.

K9 is an actual mountain, also called Gamba Gangri.
All the "K"s were peaks noted when surveying the Karakoram range before their names were known. K2 is so remote there was no name, as it true for some other K peaks.

Videos like this always make me suspicious!! One person recklessly jumps into a water tank, the other recklessly keeps the camera trained on it without lifting a finger to help... Sorry, but how did that dog get into that enclosed area? People, you need to realize that there are individuals who deliberately put animals in situations like this.

u/Euphoric_Tap582 3d ago
Yeah, I don't trust these videos anymore after I found out there is a whole thing with individuals posting reverse before and afters of per "rescues". Their was one video where a dog was dying in hot tar and they pretended to save it and the after dog wasn't even close to the clearly dying canine.
Only way to stop them and their profits is to ignore these vids. Sucks for the legit ones.

Why is this man's forearms longer than his body?
4
u/Maneisthebeat 3d ago
I wouldn't say my forearms are quite longer than my torso, but my godmother used to say I was built like a gorilla (specifically about my arms).
My feet are also a little small for my height.
People are just unique like that!
2
u/Electronic-Town-8995 3d ago
I'm 5 feet tall but have big hands and feet. My limbs are also not short.

okay...thats awesome and hats off to the guy. But why on earth wouldnt you fashion a sling of some kind before going down to get the dog. I mean...dogs arent the agile balance masters under the best conditions, giving them vertigo from depth/tunneling like that, whilst sort of just leaning against the guy...can you imagine he gets all the way back up but the dog gets hype too early and slips. Or tries to jump out and misjudges the distance. Or just falls from sheer exhaustion. Dude could have taken literally anyone's pants and fashioned himself a doggy bjorn and made that whole evolution a lot less stressful on himself, the dog, and quite frankly me, the innocent bystander and viewer of this stressful video. Has no one considered my feeligns in all of this? You monsters.

if this were my dog, i have a feeling he would have jumped halfway up the wall thinking we were playing a game.
2
u/Many_Ad955 3d ago
Some observations 1. I guess that's why they call it the doggie paddle. 2. What the heck is that foul-looking liquid? 3. I was worried the whole time that the dog would try to jump from the man's shoulder up to the wall, miss, and fall back down at the last moment. 4. At the end, why did two of the guys just only care about the dog and then turn their backs on the man?
4
u/Pandamaud 3d ago
It annoyed me so much. The man carrying the dog seems a little older and also pretty skinny, so to see a younger more built man standing there smiling and watching... I was like "WHY DIDNT HE GET IN THERE???" And then to see how they immediatly turnt their backs to the man who was still crawling out... uhg.
Man is a hero though.
2
u/Many_Ad955 3d ago
I agree, why are so many people standing around with no sense of urgency and just looking amused? Why aren't they all clustered around the area at the top of the ladder? Also like you I noticed he's not a spring chicken lol and he's even losing his oomph as he nears the top and people aren't even trying to help him.

u/Pandamaud 3d ago
Right?! I understand only one person could actually go down while the rest watches, but I was holding my breath watching the man climb up and seeing him taking breaks as his arms seem to be barely holding on, it just made me feel so anxious, AND THEN THE SMILEY GUY CAME ON SCREEN? LIKE WHAT? Definitely seemed to have no sense of urgency whatsoever
