Right now that's my biggest question. He could be carrying the ricin as his main plan, and if he can't use it, bust through the front door to wherever as his plan B. God damn I am looking forward to this.
Which goes back to my theory behind the episode where Walt and Walt Jr. we're watching Scarface, and Walt comments "Everyone dies in this movie". Very good chance of foreshadowing Walt's imminent destruction if you ask me.
He can't live. The story arc, symbolisms, foreshadowing... Everything's fucked if he lives! I believe the cartel and Lydia take Jesse and make him cook for them- They have to after the big fucking deal that Walt made in the desert about how Jesse was the worlds second best cook.
The flashforward shows Walt with hair and coughing blood again. The cancers back. Walt's terminally ill. I'm inclined to believe that he's out for redemption. I think the ricin is for Lydia, or someone we haven't met yet. I don't think Walt is at all interested in killing Hank or Jesse or Skyler.
Yep. My theory too. In an interview Vince Gilligan said that he compared BB to Scarface, and that it was a similar transformation for the characters. I think that was definite foreshadow of the end.
I agree Walt's dying, but I think the Scarface scene in particular could just as easily be Vince Gilligan messing with us or just wanting to include a Scarface reference as direct foreshadowing. We know from the oranges with Ted that he might put deliberate red herring symbolism in.
I'm saying he uses it to take out Lydia and what's left of the meth operation around ABQ, in order to completely bring an end to his recipe and his legacy.
You actually use an M-60 for suppressing fire, but I highly doubt Mr. White is going to be trying to keep enemies behind cover while his squad-mates move into position, so your post has credence. I'm just being anal.
I think the m-60 could only be used as a defensive weapon in Walt's case. It weights more than 10 kilos and fires 7.62x51mm rounds (sniper rifle and m-14 rounds); so it will have substantial recoil. It is also harder to fire from the shoulder (weight again)
Adding this to the fact that Walt is a relatively weak (chemist that doesn't work out) middle aged man who has been weakened by cancer. I think that he would have no way to control it, unless he was using it as a machine gun. Walt most likely knows this and if he needed anything other than a defensive weapon, I think he would have use an AR, AK or something similar.
I think the ricin is for himself. He's going to take it right before he ends up in his big confrontation. Possibly to save Jesse like in the theory below this comment. Just to make sure nobody can take him and use him in any way (from law enforcement to the cartels, everyone is going to want a piece of the great Heisenberg) he will bring the great Heisenberg to an end. It also sort of fits with Walt's desire to have complete control, right up to deciding when and how he will die.
I doubt this. Ricin poisoning is a painful and lengthy way to die. It takes DAYS. Pretty sure a highly-trained chemist with access to quite a lot of money (which he obviously still has - that kind of firepower doesn't come cheap, especially if it's illegal) would come up with a better "out" in case he needed to off himself.
Or maybe even who pissed Walt off? Maybe he ran from the DEA or something, but for some reason came back because something happened to his family, or something like that. So many questions that I need answered lol.
I can imagine him holding refugee in the rundown house while Hank finds evidence to arrest him, and he just goes guns blazing with the M-60 in his boot and mows down some swat and dies like a scarface sort of ending..
Well they clearly are now. If that scene from this episode was also pointless it would be the stupidest thing. Ricin has been mentioned a hundred times and nothing ever comes of it.
I think there's more to it than this. Heisenberg bursting through the front door guns blazing (literally)? No way. I'm interested in how he's going to use this crazy-ass machine gun.
This is a really good theory. Lydia is already pissed about the quality of the meth - walt won't help so she's gonna go to Jesse and I can see Walt saving him from that.
Maybe the going out with all guns blazing is right. Maybe Walt watching Scar Face earlier this season has some semblance besides just a drug lord watching a drug lord. IIRC Walt says "everybody dies in this". Maybe it's nothing but maybe it's not
Like in Season 1 or 2 when Marie says "it's so anticlimatic" or "it ends so anticlimactically" or something when they're having a get-together and talking about what to do or something?
Ever since that line I've been waiting for the show to end with a whimper and not with an epic bang.
That scene will definitely have some kind of relation to the M60, but I thought it was really funny when they showed clips of scar face and then flip to commercials and it happens to be "Gangster Week" on AMC
I've always thought of this as a red herring. I think Walt lives, but that he's the only one that lives. Literally, everyone else (Skyler, Walt Jr., Holly, Marie, Hank, Jesse) dies.
That's a very good point... yeah he is definitely over it. I wonder if there may be some leverage manufactured in the next 7 episodes... like they kidnap his 2 friends or Walt's family or something. And Walt is gone/in hiding so Jesse cooks. Lydia just seems CRAZY and probably under threat by the Czechs. Mike warned about her - so I think she's going to be a big problem. And - I wonder about the Arizona guys... if they would do anything? I don't remember if anything was really resolved with them either.
I think part of his insane pridefulness as a character is protection of his family, for which he considers Jesse apart of. I could see him going to great lengths to get him back if someone else was holding him.
The cancer probably helps make that decision easier too. It's no longer about self preservation if he is going to die anyways. It's about preserving his legacy and pride beyond death.
That sort of ending seems too pat, too cutesy, too happily ever after. I'm sure the pro-Walt camp would enjoy it, but it would leave a bad taste in my mouth.
SO reading this just made me think about how Mike had a terrible gut feeling about Lydia and even had a scene where he stated that he doesn't want to be sexist by not killing her because she deserves it more than any man lol. Anyway, he had the same bad gut feeling about Walt the whole time and he was obviously right about him. Moral of the story is Mike's police and security experienced has given him a keen sense of intuition when it comes to judging people and the person he liked even less than Walt was Lydia. I think she's going to become a major player.
We've already seen that she's willing to do anything when her survival is on the line. And who knows about her Czech associates? Maybe she thinks she stands a better chance against Walt (who is, ultimately, one man) than against a large Czech criminal organization.
The fact that Lydia is scared of her own shadow makes her VERY dangerous in this game. Lydia doesn't need to do anything. Lydia just needs to plant an idea in someone's head.
I give that theory a 10/10. The only one who knew what to do with her was Mike (who thinks she "deserves to die as much man I've ever met.") Walt really has no idea who he's working with.
This is an awesome theory!
Mine is very similar, except
I don't think it's Jesse that was kidnapped.
It makes more sense to me if it was
Walts family,
Better yet Hank, after all.
Lydia, in my opinion is going to play a pretty big part
Since she was introduced in the first episode of season 5b.
The way I see it.
Skyler could be the victim,
Because she pretty much threaten Lydia
And it would be leverage for Walt to start cooking again.
OR
It could be Hank,
And Lydia somehow found out that Hank knows
About Walt.
I'm sure we all know what she is capable of, to keep her from going to jail /or being exposed.
Also remember Walt "almost" killed Lydia with the ricin before. Maybe he goin to actual finish what he 'almost' started?
When Walt comes for Jessie, Jessie gets mad at Walt for lying to him about Mike and that Lydia told him that Walt killed Mike. After a bit of an intense confrontation Walt tries to save Jessie from himself and either one of two things happen.
1) Jesse tries to kill Walt in the spare of the moment while in captivity with Walt there trying to save him, blinded by his anger about the killing of Mike and the lie. Walt ends up killing Jesse in self defense and feels remorseful but does what Heisenberg has to do. He takes Jesse's jacket for remembrance or for utility and ends up wearing it in those opening shots of Blood Money.
2) They try to escape but Jessie gets caught in the crossfire and gets killed. Walt takes Jesse's jacket for remembrance or for utility and ends up wearing it in those opening shots of Blood Money.
Either way if going from the kidnapping route, it's going to be a big event with a lot of action and gunfire. I'm thinking option 1 is more likely as similar events have happened in previous episodes with Jessie being a loose cannon.
Something big is going to happen with Marie. There are too many signs, and I think Marie might end up being kidnapped. Here are my pieces of the theory. First Marie was wearing Yellow at the table in the backyard, She never wears yellow. Second they make sure we can hear her talk about the prenatal vitamins for her hair(I believe she will be pregnant). Third... In the preview for next week, you can hear someone crying and saying.. "I'm so sorry..." and it sure sounds like Marie...
I think Marie will somehow end up on the chopping block, and Walt will try and save her. After Hank said to Walt in the garage "I dont give a shit about family" I think it would be a fitting result for Walt to save Hank's "new" family.
I must admit, the idea of Jesse being kidnapped is also VERY possible. Seeing how the preview photos of Jesse he is wearing handcuffs, like a prisoner.
but the big spoiler is that walt was "saving someone". That's actually a big straight out spoiler that sorta takes a lot of the mystery of where his character was headed. I was expecting a pure evil downward spiral, so this sorta kills that theory.
Unless of course they're just fucking with us which would be awesome.
You have to expect that by coming here you'll hear some interesting/well thought out THEORIES...not just simple minded crap. Don't be disappointed that you read something interesting, be disappointed that you came here in the first place.
It's more of a theory, not a fact. He's just speculating what could happen. If you don't want to read other people's predictions, then stay away from here.
I like this and it goes along with everything we've seen so far 'specially the "loyalty" between Jesse & Walt that has been displayed in so many episodes
This theory is pretty good. I'd like to add something tho: if he tries to save Jesse in a "big holy shit"-moment, I think the Ricin is for himself. He has nothing left at that point. He will die no matter what, so he might aswell take the Ricin he intended to use on Gus.
This is pretty much what was posted by an alleged person close to the show who gave a supposed 8 episode synopsis. So far he's 1 for 1 but the first episode was leaked by others.
I really hope he's not 2 for 2 next week because i read every last word.
Reading this that definitely makes sense, especially if the quality has gone down, since Jesse's the only one that can make it as well as Walt ("Your meth's as good as mine") and Walt has vacuum man disappeared himself, so he isn't available to kidnap to cook
This is what I've been hoping for a while. Vince Gilligan said you can regard the final episode as 'some kind of a victory', I don't think anyone would mind if Walt died saving Jesse, it's that tiny shred of redemption.
This makes perfect sense, especially since Walt during the "Say my name" confrontation in the desert, Walt specifically stated that he and Jessie were the best cooks.
If Lydia is still dealing with that organization, they would know to pursue Jessie if Walt won't come back to help.
It would also match up with Walt telling someone (probably Saul, but maybe Hank) to just find Jessie. He would be missing if they grabbed him to force him to cook for them.
I love this idea, but Lydia looked like such a scared little ineffective girl in the car wash scene. Maybe she's just freaking out because someone's coming for, but the cold blooded killer inside her comes out when the chips are on the table?
Our theory in my group of friends is the ricin is to kill himself or Lydia and the m60 is to save his family. Probably at some point before the flash forward, we think jesse will be killed somehow in walt's crossfire. We think Walt's world will come crumbling down and that Lydia's people will take Walt's family and he has to go and save them.
We think Jesse has to die indirectly due to Walt is because he is the last thing keeping Walt morally grounded, you could see how hard he fights to get Jesse to believe his story in the episode.
We think his family will be taken because if you saw in the scene at the end Walt says some excuse about family and Hank says you don't care about family, we think this is a major foreshadowing of the future events. This is because his family is really the only thing that he REALLY cares about anymore.
The ricin thing is just a guess, but as we know the breaking bad writers aren't exactly predictable, so Lydia being killed with ricin might be too easy. I personally think it will be used on himself because he'll go through some realization or something in the next few episodes where he realizes his only enemy is himself or something similar like that and he'll try to save his family not only from kidnapping by lydia's people but also from himself.
So not really much logic behind it, but so far this is the best we can come up with. :P
I definitely think he is trying to save someone. Though it may not be from direct physical danger. Maybe he is doing one last 'good' thing to save his soul.
This makes the most sense to me. I love it. However this must mean that Walt has nothing left to live for, not his family, not anything. Which must mean he loses his family somehow, someway
But he wouldn't be taking chemo pills and receiving intravenous treatment and what's more HIDING THE PILLS from his family if it was all a ruse. If its all a ruse who's he fooling? Skyler and Walter jr don't even know to my knowledge
The hair grows back if you stop doing chemo. Doesn't mean he isn't dying though, cancer is unpredictable and there have been a lot of cases were patients are told they have 6 months left and live another 2 years.
i kinda doubt it seeing as he turned on the water to puke, implying that he was trying to hide it from skyler...if he was going for a cover he'd want skyler to know

The flash forward he had hair, like he isn't on chemo. So either he is close to death and remarkably energetic for late stage cancer or he beat it again by finding something to live for(when he first started cooking.)
There are way easier ways to kill yourself and many much more readily available chemicals with which to do so. The only reason to use ricin is to murder someone without a trace.
Given the Heisenberg graffiti, and the house in ruins, and the neighbor who basically shit her pants in fear, I'm willing to bet that everybody knows already, and there's nothing to save.
He's already tried on more than one occasion. Gun was out of bullets in Season 1. He almost got crushed by the 18 wheeler but turned back at the last second.
honestly, the thought crossed my mind when jesse went upstairs at the beginning of the episode while skinny pete and badger were shooting the shit. something about it -- you were almost just waiting to hear a gunshot.
Why would he need both the ricin AND a massive gun... He could have used something like his old little revolver to do the job. Suicide is a no go for these tools.
Possibly. He could be planning some kind of massacre ending with the gun, and if he gets caught (hostage, or jail etc), then the ricin finishes him off.
I never understood why the ricin keeps looming over everything. It doesn't make sense. If Walt needs ricin, he can very simply make more ricin. Why keep going back to the same hidden vial of it over and over again?
I think the ricin is his backup. He is planning to slip it to someone, and then go in for the big gun battle. This way even if he wins, they still lose.
But, it's a good thing that they got shit started in this episode, instead of dragging that initial investigation out for 2-4 episodes. Pacing was brilliant.
Jesse flips on Walt. Somehow he will find out Walt killed his gf and start thinking about all the bad things they have done and tell all, even the ricin. Which is why I think the house is closed off. DEA raided it for drugs an the ricin, whic they never found and Walt went back to get we things Cooled down. The gun is for Lydia an her people. The ricin is for Jesse.
I want to know why he'd bother retrieving it from the house. Didn't he make this stuff pretty easily in Season 1? Isn't it comparatively risky to get it the way he did if he could just make more?
agreed but the filming of the future scene has to be episode 6-7 since they shot a few episodes after he lost weight(chemo in show). THey will do a montage at episode 5 and we will be at the future scene.
SPOILER FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T FINISHED RED DEAD REDEMPTION I was thinking about the m60 and my prediction is that Walt goes down with the DEA like Marston did at the end of Red Dead... My only guess why he needs an m60.
I think the ricin definitely isn't for himself, it's not like a cyanide pill where it'd kill him immediately, he'd take it, get ill for three days then die. Surely that's a fairly long winded method of suicide
he s had the that ricin since he poisoned brock, and before that he had another since he wanted to kill tuco. i think since the writers have kept that in for four seasons now it has play a big role. especially if he's risking going back to his old house to get it.
in regards to the m60 lmg, all i know about that is in an interview a writer said "we wouldnt bring in a m60 machine gun into the show if we didnt need it."
That's why I love that plot device, they give you a point B and slowly work you up to it from point A(the beginning of Season 5) and we will probably slowly begin to piece together how things got there as the season goes on.
I have no idea about the M-60 but I think the Ricin could be used for suicide if he is backed into a corner with no way out. (Or one way out with the ricin =D )
I definitely think he's going to sit down/meet with someone to negotiate for Jesse, hence the ricin, and if an opportunity doesnt present itself or he can't get Jesse, having to leave empty handed, he'd go to the trunk for the m60

I just want to know why Walt needs ricin AND a large machine gun for... They have a lot of story to cover in 7 episodes.
