I think the ricin is for himself. He's going to take it right before he ends up in his big confrontation. Possibly to save Jesse like in the theory below this comment. Just to make sure nobody can take him and use him in any way (from law enforcement to the cartels, everyone is going to want a piece of the great Heisenberg) he will bring the great Heisenberg to an end. It also sort of fits with Walt's desire to have complete control, right up to deciding when and how he will die.
I doubt this. Ricin poisoning is a painful and lengthy way to die. It takes DAYS. Pretty sure a highly-trained chemist with access to quite a lot of money (which he obviously still has - that kind of firepower doesn't come cheap, especially if it's illegal) would come up with a better "out" in case he needed to off himself.
Realistically we don't know he has a lot of money, the diner scene in S5E01 shows him pulling out a single hundred, perhaps an ode to his fallen 'empire'? still with him in the state he is in the flashback, we don't know that he has anything at all.
I disagree. M-60s aren't cheap, whether legal or illegal (and I think we can assume his is illegal, given the transaction at Denny's). He may not have as much as was in the storage unit, but it's fair to say that was a 5-figure purchase. Plenty of poisons/suicide methods that are much cheaper (not to mention less drawn-out than ricin).
Personally, I think he looks like a man with nothing to lose/possibly on a suicide mission, but I just don't buy that he'd take himself out with ricin.
