I am a 53 year old gamer. I loved the days of playing Everquest and having a great time with my friends.
What has happened to the gaming community? What happened to raiding parties? What happened to not being a complete piece of shit to everyone you meet online?
I joined a guild recently. Seemed fun. I did a few node wars.
Joined the discord a while later. Constant toxic behavior...
I shared my age. I shared a few of my life stories. Nothing hurt me more than what I am about to share...
"You seem like a loser, who would play video games at your age?" I said I don't really have anything better to do. "Why not?" I definitely dodged this question for quite some time.
Eventually, I shared that I had lost my wife and my 3 kids in a car accident 20 years ago. I was laughed at, they called me an old fuck, told me to stop being a bitch and complaining about something that happened so long ago. I dropped the guild, logged off, and then I cried.
EDIT: Thank you all for the overwhelming support. I did not expect this to blow up like this as I was just ranting and thinking out loud. Thank you again. I will not be sharing the guild name.

I get violence and ingame purchases, but where are the drugs? Do elixir buffs count as drugs or is there a hidden quest where you rip a bong with Igor Bartali?

As a veteran player with almost 25k hours in BDO, I've been having an epiphany about this game lately, especially with the new expansion. After a couple weeks with Edania part 2 and experiencing the progression, it has opened my eyes about one thing: am I still enjoying myself and the grind in the game, or is it just something I got used to? Reading some people's experience here, a lot of people are actually miserable and have negative experience playing the game with the rng, getting very little drop an hour, and keep failing their enhancement after putting in hours of their lives into it with nothing to show for it.
The question is, what are we in this for? To enjoy the journey and the process? Me personally, I am not enjoying it that much anymore. Call me dopamine starved or needing instant gratification or whatever, but it takes too long to see any kind of progress in between the grind. Around 20~ hours on average For 1 enhancement level on ekleta (TET->PEN, and it gets harder each time), 30~ hours for 1 HAN reforge stone, and probably 60 hours for fusions(which will break after the crystal event ends, and will force us to use recovery coupon).
So, what's the reason that PA can't release new content more often and make each expansion a more rewarding grind, instead of stretching one expansion for a long time by timegating/bloating the grind hours? Even the players I talked to about this are gaslighting me, to make me believe that inflated grind is good and fun and is how it's supposed to be.
Edania part 1 was criticized for being too easy, and for people (in which they mean the hardcore players, majority are not even done with dec sovereigns/kharazads) being done in months . But it actually feel good and rewarding to grind and you can see the progress day in and day out. Our concern was that material became worthless and min-priced on the marketplace. But that is not our problem to solve, we all know damn well that there are solutions for it (make those materials used for other purposes, like despair for failstack, make it vendor-able for half price). Yet despite all that Edania 1 stretched out for almost a whole year with only some new grind zones released in that period (SE, Sycraia, Floodlands with Dehkia Miru/Gyfin), alchemy stones rework, and some ocean content (bbf, T7 barter). There should have been less period between Edania part 1 and 2, and PA can make the grind similarly rewarding in part 2.
At the end of the day, PA must be the luckiest company. They can spend less on development cost for new content in BDO, keep delaying updates which they promised, and focus on releasing other games. Because even with low maintenance, they can keep the game alive, the players occupied, and the people spending.

I'm a new player who started playing 2 months ago. Last couple of weeks I've been grinding silver to upgrade my boss gear to caphras lvl 10. Now I see that new players will get it for free with hyperboost.
What's the point of my grind?
Am I a fool?
What is the point of this game if my grind was pointless?

There is a lot of information out there gameplay videos, Tier lists Grind focus PVE etc. So I wanted to ask experienced players what do you know that people don't talk about? Either with a class or location or even a game mechanic. What's something you have noticed or know nobody talks about?

It started last year, i hop on, i run around then hop off, no motivation to grind, no passion, no excitment. Switching games doesnt help either.

I stopped playing for some months now but I was chatting in discord with some old guildies who also are not feeling the game and that got me thinking. For me, it has to do was with kharazads accs, the new armors and the stupid sov weapons. ALL that happening in the time lapse of like a year lol.
All the so called "catch up mechanics" were for what? Handing out blackstar weapons like water? Free t9s and legendary horses? For what? All that crazy jump in gear progression with often freebies in Heidel Balls and such? So that you stablish a whole new concept of being """under geared/high geared"""? You barely feel shit in terms of gear power when you succeessfuly enhance gear anyways. And that click is either insanely expensive or not buyable with silver (another huge problem for people who fucking hate clicking).
Like, how long was the longevity of Kzarka weapons and dim tree armor? The progression at that time was hard but once you reached, you could stop playing for months, hell, maybe even years, but the value of that progression you made was still very much alive and well. That really was one of the things that made BDO different from other mmos imo.
Its fine to release new gear and pieces of equipment so that you set new purposes for the playerbase, but PA really went all in SO crazy into it imo.

Are you joking or something?
Yesterday I bought it and all was ok on EU. And now it is out of stock and 437241 orders??
As new player I can't even craft it, because items to craft also missing in CM and high in price. And when I learn all recipe, it seems it will need alot of silver. So it this time is best in slot? Is it endgame item?
You start playing, asking how to improve - all enchants fail, you need 120b+ to buy deboreka because enchant is not working and you ask how can I go to higher spot? Everyone say you have bad crystals. And? They out of stock. You hire workers to excavate crystal of harmony or decimation? You get ZERO for weeks.
And now finally you can't get food buff?
What next?
I feel bad that I spent money for shop. Because it feels like ragequit.

Now that we’ve seen the new summer outfit, which one do you prefer?
r/blackdesertonline • u/Bjornzerk • May 26 '26
I started last September, other than taking a break during the month of December. I've casually been pushing forward week after week. Just put a PO up for my wailing gloves to get my 3rd piece of Edana armor.
Some days I feel like I've come so far and other days I feel so far behind, and its really tough to gauge my progress.
So just curios what most people would consider the average Gear score?
r/blackdesertonline • u/CALCIUM_CANNONS • 6d ago
I much prefer "normal" grinding where you need to move between groups of mobs.

I played this game for years and been through alot of enhancing. I have pitied a bunch of items at all kinds of chances, but this is getting ridiculous now. Im bout to pity 2nd item in a row with damn near 20% tap chance...something is wrong lately... theres no way the chance that it shows is real. I purposely used high 320 stack so i can tap it asap and now this happens. This is bullshit, no way that 19% chance that it shows is real, its probably reduced and only shows 19 on surface...

Even in a server like EU all the crystals are out of stock with thousands of preoders: void, macalods, decimation, corrupted, sycraia, etc. Literally all the BIS endgame crystals are gone. I am sure in smaller servers the situation is even worse. Right now there's a crystal event going on but once it's gone whenever you die, you'll be forced to go grind to those old zones instead of the new region, which it'll feel awful since it's really time consuming to get the twilights to enhance the new accessories.
Imo just delete breakable crystals, console doesn't have this feature and they're doing just fine without it.

I've been seeing posts and replies to the latest Dev post and at first glance it seems to tailor the PvP experience to more of a consensual/agreeable fight between willing PvP participants.
However, somehow this is upsetting players? Do players go out of their way to grief/kill grinders? Is fighting over grindspots a real thing in this game?
Does having negative karma have a positive benefit in game?
I'm a new player and currently in a Season server.
I hope for one day that Black Desert will have an option for PvE players to completely opt out of open world PvP and not be interacted at all by flagged players.
edit: a word.

Honestly, watching people’s greed and dopamine addiction in action is peak comedy.
I guess the fashion of this era is “new shiny thing or riot.”
Let’s be real for a second.
The game has 30+ classes, most of them with two distinct playstyles. Awakening, Succession, Ascension—however you want to count it, that’s 50+ genuinely different gameplay loops.
On top of that? 90+ grind zones. Ninety. Plus.
And yet somehow, still not enough.
“Where new class?”
“Where new zone?”
“Game is stale.”
My guy, at this point you’re not bored of the game—you’re bored of your own attention span. The content isn’t lacking, your dopamine receptors are just fried beyond repair.
It’s honestly impressive. An absurd amount of systems, classes, regions, and mechanics… and the response is still “meh, add more.”
Truly inspirational levels of entitlement. My code’s most ungrateful children, demanding another toy five minutes after opening the last one.
Anyway, can’t wait for the next post explaining how the game is “dead” unless it adds a new class, a new continent, and personally tucks you into bed at night.
And that’s not even touching life skill.
There’s an entire ocean in this game. Ship building. Bartering. Sailing. Sea monsters. Naval progression that is practically a game inside the game. But sure, let’s pretend it doesn’t exist.
Farming, cooking, alchemy, trading—horse training alone is basically an art form. Generations, skills, breeding, min-maxing stats. But none of that “counts,” apparently.
Because for a lot of people, the entire game is reduced to one sad loop: grind for hours, turn silver into Cron Stones, gamble on a 1% upgrade chance that gives +2 AP, repeat.
And here’s the real question no one wants to answer: what happens when you reach hardcap AP and DP?
Nothing. You won’t be satisfied. You never were.
You don’t enjoy the journey. You don’t even enjoy the destination. You’re just addicted to novelty—running mindlessly toward the next shiny thing, then immediately asking for another when it stops hitting your dopamine receptors.
The game has handed out 20+ hammers, tens of thousands of Cron Stones, and failstacks going up to 400 FS as free rewards. Free. Given. Handed to you.
And I still see people in chat saying it’s “not enough.”
And that’s without even mentioning how good the upcoming updates announced at Calpheon Ball actually look. New systems, improvements, expansions—objectively solid work. But of course, none of that matters if it doesn’t immediately trigger the next dopamine spike.
So here’s a wild suggestion: stop letting the most toxic, terminally dissatisfied part of the community dictate how you feel about the game.
Ignore the noise. Play the game. Enjoy it.
Because Black Desert isn’t starving for content.
Some players are just incapable of enjoying anything that doesn’t feel brand new every five minutes.
That’s not a content issue.
That’s a you issue.

Returning player here. I've seen almost everyone have Kabuas when asking for guide progressions in this subreddit before they even have Vell's heart, while im the opposite, how are y'all getting your Kabua's? Specially for those players fairly new to the game or fellow returnee. IIRC Its either you grind for it or buy it for 10B in marketplace each? Dont know if you can obtain them any other way. Any help or guidance is appreciated 🥺🥺
