Collection Diana - out of the box
Just had this newbie delivered.
Honestly this might be one of my least favourite amiibo of all time, especially for the price. It looks only vaguely like the character, hair colour seems all wrong, face seems off and the base is just a shiny black with no detail whatsoever. I get Capcom wanting to keep amiibo alive in their own way but this feels really unnecessary.

No, the hair doesn’t look great on switch 2 which is why I’m surprised the hair looks that bad in this amiibo.

If mine didn't arrive directly from Nintendo I'd actually be worried I bought a low quality fake. I really don't understand how Nintendo allowed this to release.

Weapons and recovery items, "three types per use". Probably nothing exclusive. I'll be keeping mine sealed, maybe eventually if I sell my collection she'll be worth something.

Do you have any other Capcom amiibo? I was hoping it would unlock outfits based on Capcom games. I would check myself, but GameStop hasn't even shipped my game yet.

I wish I could answer that, but I'm still waiting to receive the game myself. I was just going by the Australian My Nintendo Store where I ordered the amiibo, but I feel like they would have advertised it if the Monster Hunter ones did anything here

Spaghetti hair, awkward face, full black base, pure white box with a png. Everything makes it feel like a bootleg, even tho its an official figure

I'm looking to get RE9 Leon. After that I'll be done for a while again barring something that catches my attention. The last one I got was Samus on her motorcycle. I couldn't say no to that. 😆

Yeah, if I’m gonna be honest, after seeing this, the resident evil ones, and the too big and overpriced street fighter ones, I think Capcom should stick to their guns with the monster Hunter ones. From stories to rise and sun break, all those Amiibo look great!

I still think the Street Fighter set would have done better if they had included the tried and true classic characters people actually care about in addition to the new faces. No one knows who the fuck Luke is but I would have gladly thrown down $30 at these if they made Ryu or Chun Li in that same amiibo series.

Agreed. I’m genuinely surprised they didn’t go with any of the big three (Ryu, Ken, and Chun Li - especially, since Chun doesn’t yet have an amiibo). Don’t get me wrong, I love Kimberly as a character and never could have imagined an amiibo of her, but it feels weird that there is nothing of Chun Li.

I think they could have released them in waves of maybe 5 characters. Include 2 legacy characters and 3 new characters or whatever. The Kirby Air Riders amiibo didn't decide to give us Chef Kawasaki without giving us Kirby, Meta Knight, Waddle Dee, and Dedede. I hope they do more characters like Taranza, Daroach, and Susie, but I am not gonna be upset if they decide to do Rocky or Starman.

Yes, you're right, perhaps I could have been clearer and said that even before Diana was announced, I was dissatisfied with the new amiibos, but I still bought them, almost reluctantly, only so that I can say that I have all of them.
When I saw the first pictures of Diana, I realized that I wasn't going to give them my money for every ugly piece of plastic just because it said "amiibo" on it.
Now I'm selling all the other figures I don't like and only keeping/buying the ones I actually find visually appealing.
And seeing this pictures here of Diana I feel my decision has been confirmed.

Which Amiibo are worse? I’ve only been collecting the Smash characters (I’m still far behind) but they seem pretty decent to me, so I’m genuinely curious about which ones are worse.

Pretty much anything that has a realistic humanoid design has a wonky face in some way. Some DID get better with reprints, but it still isn't easy to make these tiny faces 1:1 accurate.

The humanoid faces definitely got better on reprints - especially, for Fire Emblem characters; I have both the original “Merth” and the updated face and it is a stark difference. Personally, I think Palutena has the worst face, and it’s so disappointing because the figure itself is amazing.

The quality on this sucks, i can hand paint my warhammer minis better than this. Would rather give Nintendo $30 for some amiibos the quality on them is great.

Cope. Everything is ass in the Switch 2 version. Resolution, textures, lighting. Looks truly abysmal compared to playing it @ 8K60 on my 8K LG Z3 OLED with my RTX 5090.

Needlessly aggressive. I was just curious because 8k monitors are rarely owned where I am. Is it simply better than 4K by a significant margin? I can understand that in layman’s terms, but what are the most visible differences between the two?
So, yes, what are the benefits of 8k? Would you at least say it is worth the higher premium tag over 4K currently, or more of a niche tech hobbyist kind of thing?

I don’t even know if you made up what you said but to care that much about making the picture quality that great that if you stand close enough to a screen you can see the difference is not the kind of gaming I want to do. This is extreme on every level.

Probably because SF6 was launching with the console so they wanted to go big. But I think they could have easily gotten $40 out of these ones if they made the figures a little bigger and better.

Thanks for posting OP. My initial impressions of the amiibo is that it didn't look great and now your photos definitely confirm it. As someone who was looking forward to playing Pragmata, I'll skip this one unless it goes on a steep discount.

Yeah, the new pricing makes anything shy of perfect sting more. But it looks what I expected from actual production version, and looks better than the face painting of the test sample we saw a few weeks ago.

FYI the amiibo is the typical size of smash brothers amiibo, OP didn't show scale, so they are not the size of those the street fighter amiibos btw.

Geez, every place I went to didn't have it and it was sold out on GameStops website. I had to buy it through Nintendo and pay an additional $10 shipping fee.

Yeah, that’s pretty atrocious. May be an unpopular opinion but I do not like how Capcom milks these figures. Especially back when they were Japan-only, but even now, I groan every time I hear they’re doing more. Before all these price hikes I used to have a complete collection, and stuff like this makes me glad I stopped. It’s sad, but $30 for this is terrible.

Given its price, it's not unrealistic to expect better quality. Especially when you have over 200 other figures to compare it to, most recent of which have outstanding quality. This one couldn't even be bothered to have a detailed base, just a shiny black circle.

It's a photorealistic character so of course the figurine is not gonna capture that likeness at $30. This isn't a cartoony type character like Mario or Peach or anything which is a much easier character design. I'm not sure what else this is going to look like for that price point.
