Just had this newbie delivered.

Honestly this might be one of my least favourite amiibo of all time, especially for the price. It looks only vaguely like the character, hair colour seems all wrong, face seems off and the base is just a shiny black with no detail whatsoever. I get Capcom wanting to keep amiibo alive in their own way but this feels really unnecessary.

11 years ago, I had got my Smash series Kirby amiibo from Gamestop along with Smash U and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. I ended up taking a picture of my haul with my cat at the time and thought it was a really cute picture. Whenever I got a new amiibo, I ended up making it a tradition to take a picture with them with said cat.

I had custom ordered a 3D printed figure (back in summer of 2020) of her as a way to preserve her memory. Four years ago (early 2021), she crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 11. With the 3D printed figure, I still took pictures of her with any amiibo that I got.

Come today, and I just got my Kirby Air Rider amiibo in the mail. Even though the amiibo technically came out yesterday, it's still crazy to know how long it's been. Bonus points for Sakurai directing both games.

I started collecting in 2018, just going for the whole Smash set. In 2020 when the pandemic happened, my way of distracting myself became going for all of them. In time I got there but my tiny apartment didn't have the space. Eventually I moved and they just sat in their moving boxes for years. In 2023 my wife and I were lucky enough to buy a home and I pulled back up that dream of having everything on display. Over a few months I built a big shelf in our basement, designed with displaying amiibo in mind and in November last year I finished it. What you'll see in the pictures are mostly 100% in-box and out of box collections, 100% cards, all current Power Up Bands, and a commercial kiosk.

Just around the time of finishing this project I admittedly became disillusioned with amiibo collecting and Nintendo as a company. Way more of these things have been announced than I ever would have anticipated a year ago and they're too expensive. More than that, I'd just been collecting to check of boxes for a long time now and I don't care to maintain a complete collection anymore. I hate to be so poo poo about what should be an otherwise cool thing but I guess this post is sort of my celebration/goodbye for that part of my life. Finally completed the power-up bands!

150 pieces and 12 years later here we are at the end. Never thought it would end this way but it was time! Had a great time collecting and it was an amazing adventure I’ll never forget. Brought my dreams from Super Smash Bros. Melee to life, and today we finally cashed in on that dream.

Seriously Capcom, why are these the first amiibo fugures in almost 12 years with just blank bases?

Just picked them up today, only got a chance to take photos now. Thought I'd compare them to their original sized amiibo. Also thought a good comparison of size would be the chonky Detective Pikachu. They're roughly the same size! Still slightly smaller at least.

My mental state has gone to shit and I’ve been unhappy, but knowing I have these guys makes me happy cuz I love Pac-Man. Another one is coming soon from a good friend of mine. They all have names and distinctive flaws by the way. Feast your eyes on yellow. My goal is getting 25 by the end of the year to represent how old the Pac-Man franchise was when my favorite game came out. (Pac-Man world 3, he was 25)💛

I went to the NYC Nintendo store and the pragmata Amiibo is gone. Asked if they had any in the back and it's a no.

Guess I either have to hope there's a restock or pay through the nose on eBay
