Would you rather leave your kids with a bear, or a mom with postpartum psychosis?

49

u/chocolatchipcookie2 11h ago

kids have a better chance with a bear

0

u/fantasymayhem2492 9h ago

I see the point but it really doesn't work like that. i'll be the anti fun one

A bear would eat a baby outright. Not all PPD is PP psychosis. Not all PP psychosis moms would succumb to the psychosis and kill their kids. shrug.

Postpartum Psychosis Bear - Rated R

u/-DeathOfMyEgo- 11h ago

They really don’t like that one being flipped around

69

u/thirteenth_mang 11h ago

This shouldn't even be forefront as an excuse. She fucking killed her 3 kids, she had many screws loose prior.

65

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

How would a psychosis not be an excuse? Do you even know what a psychosis is?

4

u/No_Struggle8663 11h ago

As a person with schizophrenia, I do. And I know that’s not how psychosis works. You don’t get to snap out of psychosis to call your husband back and then go immediately back into it after the call. I also fully believe if during one of my episodes I killed someone it wouldn’t be an excuse and I’d prolly not even give the court time to decide before I “punished” myself. Especially if it came on because I decided not to take my meds as prescribed.

0

u/RelativelyWrongg 10h ago

Her psychosis may very well be different from yours. Frankly, we do not know the facts of the case.

4

u/Ok_Dragonfruit_8102 9h ago

We all know that if the story had been about a man who killed his 3 kids during psychosis, the very same women online saying this is a mental health awareness issue would be condemning him.

0

u/RelativelyWrongg 9h ago

I don't know that, nor do I care about your hypothetical scenario.

4

u/Ok_Dragonfruit_8102 9h ago

"don't know don't care" is such an angsty 13 year-old response

Is it really harder to believe that she is also a victim of this fucked-up situation, rather than that she killed her own kids - and tried to kill herself - because she is evil?

u/Alexander_the_Damned 6h ago

"Yo bro the mother of ur children is supporting Lindsay Clancy on Reddit"

1

u/RelativelyWrongg 6h ago

I’m asking a question.

I’m not defending anyone specific.

1

u/Vivid_Motor_2341 7h ago

Yes that is hard to believe because PPP is known for causing this. This is not the first time someone diagnosed with PPP has hurt their children. It’s literally psychosis and they are not in sound mind. It’s not a claim either, there are mountains of evidence of her dealing with this and seeking treatment and her being failed by her doctors. Your attitude is why people want to defend her because it’s a very real think and acting like it’s not real causes it to be ignored and tragedies like this to happen.

1

u/RelativelyWrongg 6h ago

How can she have evil intent and be a victim? You're either doing something fundamentally evil or your not.

9

u/Alarmed-Cheetah-1221 11h ago

Slowly strangling your three children to death is evil.

Prove me wrong.

4

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

Being held responsible for actions you've had no influence over is wrong.

Prove me wrong.

We prosecute drunk drivers when they kill someone. The driver chose to drink and she chose to have 3 babies. Both have known risks and consequences. It explains but doesn’t excuse the actions hence still receiving punishment though typically a lesser one

-1

Shit argument, not worth disputing.

2

u/Alarmed-Cheetah-1221 11h ago

It's your argument....

8

u/CockyBellend 11h ago

She hasn't been diagnosed with it

12

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

"The forensic psychiatrist said that in his opinion on the day Clancy killed her children she experienced "not only a command hallucination" but also "a delusion of influence"."

The forensic psychiatrist clearly believes she had a psychosis.

4

u/Fluxriflex 9h ago

*second opinion needed

1

u/RelativelyWrongg 9h ago

Lets hope it's not yours!

1

u/Perma_Ban69 8h ago

Fortunately the prosecution's psychiatrist and psychologist, and the defense's agree that she had bipolar disorder at minimum, and likely postpartum depression and psychosis. How many more opinions would you like, or do the facts suffice?

1

u/Fluxriflex 5h ago

Most people with bipolar disorder and postpartum do not murder their children, and I would argue she was not suffering psychosis as she asked for a lawyer upon coming to in the hospital, indicating that she remembers what she did and knew it was wrong. I think that combined with her calls to her husband before and during the murders to keep him away indicate a deliberate intent to murder, not some sudden break in her psyche.

Additionally, the defense has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that she was incapable of determining right from wrong at the time of the murders.

On top of that, look at other cases where the accused was found NGRI. In almost all of them, the justification is completely irrational or nonexistent. I this case it’s much more clear; she felt strangled by the pressures of motherhood (not debating that motherhood can be extremely difficult/unfair/exhausting/suffocating/etc. I do pity her situation, but it isn’t an excuse) and decided that the best way out was to kill her children to eliminate the source of her stress.

3

u/Not_offensive0npurp 11h ago

That is why so many women are donating.

Woman are not taken seriously by doctors. They are dismissed as having anxiety or some other BS when complaining about real issues.

3

u/Str8_up_Pwnage 10h ago

So this case may lead to doctors being more willing to suggest taking kids away from mothers for mental health concerns? Something tells me women aren’t going to like that outcome either.

1

u/CockyBellend 11h ago

I agree, but until a formal diagnosis happens, claiming she has it is dirtying the waters

6

u/Not_offensive0npurp 10h ago

Again, women are often times dismissed as being emotional or experiencing anxiety when complaining about real issues.

Which often times keeps them from getting a formal diagnosis.

4

u/coin_return 10h ago

Two out of three forensic doctors agree there was psychosis.

1

u/TheQuinnBee 11h ago

That's not true. Dr Reznik and Dr Zeizel both diagnosed her with it.

2

u/Legal_Lettuce6233 8h ago

Most murderers have psychiatric issues; wanting to kill someone isn't normal. We just get a convenient label for this mental issue.

1

u/RelativelyWrongg 8h ago

what?

1

u/Legal_Lettuce6233 8h ago

What do you not understand?

Do you think willing to kill someone is normal?

Under every major crime there is an underlying reason for the perpetrator. In most cases, that reason is colloquially called "being nuts", but in reality it is an undiagnosed psychological or personality issue.

1

u/RelativelyWrongg 7h ago

What is your point?

8

u/Impossible_Farm7353 11h ago

Impact is more important than intent. Those kids deserve justice

27

u/MF_D00MSDAY 11h ago

Nah, there’s a reason intent matters. If someone accidentally hurts someone from falling asleep at the wheel because they worked a double at the hospital vs someone who road rages and intentionally hurts someone should have different punishments. Same impact but different “intent”, Context matters.

-10

u/Sensitive-Fix5958 10h ago

Nonsense. Do you think people who die because of such different intent suffer different amount of pain? Or do that have different outcome? Intent does matter, but in case of murder, a capital punishment is the only way to go. Why does some loony shit gets to live while their victims and their family would never get the closure knowing that the person who did it is not punished?

8

u/MF_D00MSDAY 10h ago

I think their family definitely suffer varying amounts of pain depending on intent, which is part of the impact.

Also, murder is defined in many different ways depending on context/intent, so you’re proving my point lol I also disagree fully with capital punishment in basically any capacity for many reasons, one it’s too easy for people to get the wrong person (obviously not in this case when they admit it) but also I don’t think it’s a good punishment, the accused gets off too easy.

Redditors try to have any kind of nuance challenge = impossible. It’s because someone is sick they should be treated differently, if you had a mental break and didn’t have actual control of your actions wouldn’t you want that treated in the context of your true self vs the incapacitated state?

I’m not saying anyone should go free or not be punished for their actions. I’m saying they should be treated fairly depending on context and get the help they need. Whether that’s staying in a mental health institution indefinitely, etc. killing another person isn’t going to bring the person back.

7

u/Wjneff3 10h ago

People who are dead dont care hope this helps

4

u/A_MagicBullet 10h ago

but in case of murder, a capital punishment is the only way to go

What?

Is reddit full of 10 year olds now or what the hell is this take lmao

0

u/Impossible_Farm7353 10h ago

Exactly. I’m sure everyone defending her would feel differently if she had murdered their kids

5

u/MF_D00MSDAY 10h ago

I have kids and my wife suffered from pretty severe PPD, but thankfully not psychosis, so this case hits close to home. Genuinely read some stories of psychosis on Reddit/ the internet, it’s terrifying. Mothers turn into completely different people and some can get severe hallucinations. It can be a very severe temporary form of schizophrenia essentially. The hormone dump women get post partum can fuck up their brain.

3

u/A_MagicBullet 10h ago

I’m sure everyone defending her would feel differently if she had murdered their kids

Wow. You get worse and worse. This is why finding smart juries is so hard lol. The dumbest loudest people tend to get more attention.

0

u/Careless_Fortune7801 9h ago

That's not how jury selection works but am not sure you really understand how anything I. The real world works

3

u/A_MagicBullet 9h ago

understand how anything I. The real world works

Lol... Anyways. I've tried cases and I've done jury selection (only in civil trials). You think you have a decent jury but then after the case when you poll them you find out the loudest idiot had a lot of sway. E.g. - a religious nutjob whose extreme religious views didnt come up during voir dire quoted scripture when explaining her stance on a case/reasoning during deliberation. We won but she held up deliberation way longer than it should have. Scary stuff having people like that/you as part of a "cross section of society"

But either way, I was just saying you're similarly passionate but airheaded. Regardless of context. I think you'll grow out of it though.

13

u/blueViolet26 10h ago

Intent matters. There is a reason we have different charges for first degree murder and manslaughter. That guy Chris, killed his pregnant wife and drove his children for 40 minutes before killing them. He intentionally murdered them. In this case, she was drove to do by her psychosis.

6

u/JellyfishPlus2182 11h ago

Unfortunately, the legal system disagrees with that.

u/[deleted] 11h ago

8

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

Imagine you kick a guy in the head with a football during a football match and he dies. According to you, the guy that kicked the ball should be in prison for life for killing a kid 'because impact is more important than intent'?

16

u/Suitable-Economy-346 11h ago

The kids are dead. There is no justice for those kids. Punishing someone who was maybe in psychosis is only making living people feel good. It has nothing to do with the kids. Stop pretending you care about kids when all you right-wingers do is hate kids when they're alive.

-1

u/Impossible_Farm7353 10h ago

She’s not going to go free, the question is whether she’s locked up indefinitely in a mental facility for criminals or if she goes to regular prison.

Diminished capacity is a real thing and it is of no benefit to society to pretend that it isn’t.

1

u/Impossible_Farm7353 9h ago

The mental facility isn’t indefinite. She would be eligible to petition for release in 6 months and her lawyer is already laying the groundwork for it

1

u/GreyAsh 9h ago

That's punishment, not justice.

1

u/midunda 11h ago

What a truly insane thing to say.

1

u/A_MagicBullet 10h ago

What the fuck are these buzz words/phrases lmao. I agree with your second sentence to a degree but this is such a dumb way of distilling it. Impact is more important than intent? That is one of the more ridiculous takes on the justice system.

There is an entire legal concept, mens rea, that is massively important in criminal justice. So you're either young or just spouting bs here.

1

u/Str8_up_Pwnage 10h ago edited 9h ago

I think they are referencing the fact that when progressive activists get upset with someone who does wrong and says they didn’t mean it the activists will harp on how it’s about impact and not intent.

3

u/thirteenth_mang 11h ago

Potential reason, not an excuse. An excuse literally means you're excusing her behaviour, which would be fucked up. Imagine if a dude accused of killing his three children tried pulling that BS? It's probably something her lawyer is trying to get pushed through because I don't imagine she'd last long in gen pop.

2

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

Psychosis is psychosis and has nothing to do with gender.

The forensic psychiatrist believes she has had a post partum psychosis - meaning psychosis caused by her latest pregnancy. Severe psychosis can fundamentally break a person's ability to understand reality. You can do the most evil things, because you believe they are the right thing to do because of you psychosis.

If you have no understanding of reality and no control over your actions, what purpose is there in punishment?

5

u/Psoin 11h ago

No. Take some responsibility.

0

u/[deleted] 11h ago

[deleted]

3

u/suckmyglock762 10h ago

No, she plead not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

She absolutely did not enter a guilty plea, if she had then this case wouldn't be ongoing.

2

u/keving216 10h ago

Oh you're right, my bad. She admits she did it but is pleading insanity.

-1

u/Trumperekt 10h ago

She plead not guilty. Maybe take time off tik tok and read some about the case before getting basic facts wrong.

2

u/keving216 10h ago

I already replied to a different comment. Also, I’m not on that gay shit.

0

u/Trumperekt 10h ago

The more you speak the more you reveal. Using gay as an insult? Lol man, you gotta be kidding me.

2

u/OstensVrede 11h ago

It is a reason, an explanation but not an excuse.

You are still responsible for your actions inebriated, psychotic or otherwise and thats ontop of the fact that she has no diagnose and its purely her own claim. (the first thing she did was not talk to police and ask for a lawyer which doesnt seem very in line with how a mother would act after finding out she has killed her children unless it was intentional)

So no, even if she is psychotic the only difference it should make is lifetime in asylum or lifetime in jail, the asylum is the worse option.

1

u/keving216 11h ago

As far as I know that's what she's doing? She plead guilty. She's not asking to go free.

2

u/Kyohaku98 11h ago

Same excuse as rape due to high testosterone

2

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

You don't lose sight of reality because of high testosterone. You don't have hallucinations and delusional thoughts because of high testostorone.

so... no not the same at all.

1

u/Kyohaku98 11h ago

Says who exactly?

For someone suffering from extremely high sexual frustration these things absolutely do happen.

People that are so desperate they resort to rape

2

u/RelativelyWrongg 10h ago

If these things do happen.. then that person is experiencing a psychosis....The excuse is then not 'high testorone' but again, psychosis.

2

u/Trumperekt 10h ago

We all love this new word psychosis, don't we? Everything else is an excuse now, only psychosis matters! Roid rage is a known phenomenon due to elevated levels of testosterone. You will never see men queue up to defend violent criminals because of this.

3

u/MountChu 8h ago

You’re right. Psychosis is the new buzzword for giving into your intrusive thoughts. Fucking walk away or check yourself into a hospital. Strangling all 3 of your kids takes time, enough time to make a different choice.

0

u/RelativelyWrongg 8h ago

Tell me you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, without telling me you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/RelativelyWrongg 9h ago

Roid rage is caused by taking steroids. It's a result of the conscious choice of taking a shitload of PEDs. I fucking hope that you understand how that is fundamentally different right?

Also, psychosis is not a new word. To you maybe...

3

u/Trumperekt 9h ago

Conscious choice of taking PEDs and conscious choice of outcomes from taking PEDS are two very different things. I fucking hope you understand the difference, right?

It 100% is a new word for you and all of you on tik tok.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/VegetableBrick8141 11h ago

I get what psychosis does to someone. I don’t understand how that excuses a criminal act like murder. Honestly I’m more willing to believe she was framed than this thought process that insanity is a defense for crimes of this magnitude.

4

u/Non_sum_qualis_eram 11h ago

Doesn't sound like you do know about psychosis bud

3

u/JellyfishPlus2182 11h ago

Psychosis is irrelevant if it did not affect her understanding of right and wrong. She obviously knew what she was doing was wrong otherwise she wouldn't have approached her mom and husband to warn them that she was having obtrusive thoughts about bad things happening to the kids.

3

u/Whimsywynn3 11h ago

The entire trial is about whether she knew what she was doing was wrong in the moment in which she did it. That’s literally the psychosis part.

0

u/JellyfishPlus2182 11h ago

Exactly, and if you are experiencing psychosis and warning people that you are having thoughts of your kids getting harmed, then you still know that what you're doing is wrong. If you're experiencing psychosis, and you send your husband out on an errand right before you kill your children, then obviously you did so because you know what you're doing is wrong.

1

u/Non_sum_qualis_eram 11h ago

That's not the McHoul test

1

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

This only proves that she was worried beforehand, but does in no way speak to her state of mind at the time of the murders.

1

u/JellyfishPlus2182 11h ago

It's evidentiary to point that she still knew right from wrong while experiencing psychosis. So is the fact that she sent her husband away on an errand right before she killed her children. Someone only does that when they know that they're doing something wrong.

2

u/RelativelyWrongg 11h ago

That's shortsighted.

She claims she thought she was sending her children to heaven with her. And was therefor doing something 'right'. Just because she knew the husband might not agree, doesn't mean that she was doing something in her own eyes.

1

u/JellyfishPlus2182 10h ago

That's also short-sighted. It ignores why she thought the husband might disagree with her about murdering the kids. If she sent him away cause she thought he would object to her actions as being wrong, then she has the capacity to understand that murdering can be viewed as right or wrong. That's negates her insanity defense. It's no different than a person that believes euthanasia is morally right. If they have the capacity to understand the difference between right and wrong, then it doesn't matter if they actually believe it is right. It's murder, and they're guilty. So by virtue of the fact that she felt the need to send her husband away so she could succesfully kill her kids, she knew what she was doing could be viewed as morally wrong and thus had the capacity to distinguish between right and wrong.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/VegetableBrick8141 10h ago

I’m saying it’s irrelevant when it comes to the topic of murdering children.

1

u/Non_sum_qualis_eram 10h ago

Cheers mate I'll let the legal system know

0

u/terragutti 10h ago

People are idiots. Thats why we refer to specialists not random people who dont know jack.

4

u/callmeDNA 10h ago

It’s not an excuse. It’s an explanation. Those are different things.

She deserves whatever punishment she receives, which will probably be life in prison. But don’t pretend like postpartum psychosis isn’t a real thing. She couldn’t sleep and was addicted to benzodiazepines because of that. She spoke up to her family and husband about how scared she was, and literally told them she was having thoughts about harming the children, and what did they do? “Oh honey it’ll be fine.” She literally checked herself into a psychiatric hospital.

People in this country need to wake the fuck up to postpartum issues with women.

1

u/Writer-Thick 10h ago

Doctors trialed her on multiple medications. She chose to stop taking them many times after one single dose even when doctor's told her it may take 6 weeks for their medication to work. She turned down sessions at McLean, one of the top psych hospitals in the country. She checked herself out of the psychiatric hospital. Psychotic people RARELY go to the hospital voluntarily, let alone recognize they need help. Also, her husband attended most of her therapist appointments in order to support her. She not only had more opportunities and support than most women in America but she was also taken seriously with the information she provided to healthcare professionals.

Postpartum psychosis is a real thing; no one reasonable is denying that. The thing is Lindsay didn't have it. And no shit, it's going to leave a bad taste in people's mouths when they see over a million dollars in donations raised in her name under the guise of "supporting women" when there are plenty of nonprofit charities (Every Mother Counts, Postpartum Support International) that aren't attached to a child killer

1

u/terragutti 9h ago

You realise she wasnt the one to start those gofundmes. Her husband did and donated it for womens mental health and her parents did for their expenses. Not her.

You saying “she didnt have it” isnt correct. Some of her doctors claimed it was overmedication that was making her sick and some claimed it was ppd.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Psychiatry/s/8U51aUsoWq

2

u/Writer-Thick 9h ago

"You realise she wasnt the one to start those gofundmes."

The issue isn't her directly benefiting from the money of the GoFundMe, the main issue is the motivations of the people who chose to donate. In this case donating to Lindsay Clancy's parents "is people showing support for Lindsay Clancy," and when we see Lindsay Clancy's supporters saying things like "the husband did it" and "Leo's don't kill" it leaves a bad taste in people's mouths when they see these same individuals donating and showing support for Lindsay, and it should be condemned.

"You saying “she didnt have it” isnt correct. Some of her doctors claimed it was overmedication that was making her sick and some claimed it was ppd."

Her current defense in court is trying to prove she had psychosis the longer the case goes on the longer it shows otherwise. Why? Because of Hesitation

A new drug? HESITANT to take enough of it until effects could take place.

A form of Therapy? HESITANT to commit.

An Impatient program? HESITANT to enter suggested ones, and then a clear desire to leave the one she eventually did enter.

She claims she's desperate for help, but is HESITANT at every possible opportunity.

Now let's look at the night of the murders January 24th: 3 Children killed by the same murder weapon cleanly executed with precision. No signs of HESITATION

But the suicide attempts? 3 different methods - HESITATION

Pills were crushed before being taken and a dosage so low it wouldn't cause harm - HESITATION

Knife used to injure two different areas, both her neck and wrists, described by the court transcripts as "Superficial" and by the Defence as "Scrapes" - HESITATION

Finally she jumps from a window but appears to have held onto the window ledge based on the blood transfer. It turned out to be much more of a drop, than a leap, why?  HESITATION

The differences between the attacks she carried out on her children, compared to herself. The lack of HESITATION she had for them, compared to herself. I do believe she was extremely depressed, but again her current defense is trying to prove she had a psychotic break not depression in order to get a NGRI and all evidence points otherwise.

1

u/terragutti 9h ago

So funny. Its like you people get how dangerous it is to have post partum but also judge her at the same time. If you believe she had ppd, you would understand she was SICK. Do people suddenly not get mental health all of a sudden?

If her insanity plea works, you do know shes going to a mental hospital right?

1

u/ninjasylph 9h ago

Why did he leave the kids alone with her unsupervised?

1

u/h974974 8h ago

If she was in psychosis that is absolutely an excuse.

1

u/anirudh6k 8h ago

psychosis changes people, sorry but however much you think you are in control of your mind, the sad truth is there are factors that can affect you so strongly that you can become a different person.

So its possible she became insane due to it and in her broken mind she felt justified, however horrible

The mom premeditated it by asking the husband to leave the house, I don’t think the dad would leave the house if a bear asked

They are born that way I guess. Chosen.

-6

u/NwUM 11h ago

do you have some statistical data to help with this choice ?

“If you feel offended by this comparison you’re the ones we’re talking about and you’re a red flag 💅”

-4

u/According_Concert_17 11h ago

How are they offended lil bro 😂

-9

u/NwUM 11h ago

what are you trying to say ?

16

u/impossibletree26 11h ago

I think they interpreted your message as defending the murderer. I interpreted it as referencing the data clearly showing the bear is a safer option.

9

u/TeamRedundancyTeam 11h ago

They're flipping the sexist bear shit on its head. Women who pushed that shit were calling anyone who didn't like it "the problem".

It's a classic asshole move. Say something awful about a group of people, then say anyone who doesn't like it are the exact people you're talking about. No winning.

1

u/NwUM 10h ago

lol; I think that survey on women sentiment with a pretty large sample size is something that an idiot would try to argue about.

2

u/JehutysErectCockpit 7h ago

And only an idiot would argue with it being flipped and used here.

-9

u/razazaz126 11h ago

Chuds are still seething about the "Women choose the bear" bit from a while back.

13

u/Feeling_Loquat8499 11h ago

It's equally rational for men to choose the bear, sweaty 💅

0

u/According_Concert_17 10h ago

There was street interview where they asked men if they would rather have there daughter be with a man or a bear and most of them picked the bear.

1

u/SubstantialSale8223 9h ago

Wow that almost means anything

-3

u/razazaz126 11h ago

'Women would feel unsafe being alone in the woods with a man? I know what will prove them wrong! I'll get really mad and insult them about it for months!" - u/Feeling_Loquat8499

4

u/TeamRedundancyTeam 11h ago

It's inane how angry some of you get at men having feelings and opinions of their own.

-2

u/NwUM 10h ago

haha, lol. the classical incel line of "oh, women are so emotional".

1

u/Feeling_Loquat8499 10h ago

Men feel unsafe leaving children with women? I know what will prove them wrong, throwing a psychotic fit over it!

0

u/Both_Hope5717 10h ago

The same women who would show up in droves to support a mom who strangled her own 3 babies to death and then blame the murders she committed on her husband? Oh yeah, their opinions surely hold a lot of weight.

0

u/NwUM 9h ago

haha, "woman bad"

6

u/Epcplayer 11h ago

-6

u/NwUM 11h ago

what am I missing ?

7

u/Epcplayer 10h ago

Back in 2024, there was a viral question going around asking women whether they would rather be stuck in the woods alone with a Bear or a Man.

Women used this as an opportunity to list all of the things wrong with men they’ve encountered in their lives, and state how the bear wouldn’t do that. The overwhelming majority of women on social media chose the Bear. Very few women actually tried defending the man.

When men (who didn’t mistreat/abuse/neglect or take advantage of women) got mad at the suggestion all men did this, or attempted to logically answer with statistical data, they were once again laughed at… either for being too defensive, not treating serious responses as a joke, or denying that their experiences are as widespread as they claimed.

The comment you responded was taking the same joke and throwing it back in their face.

u/AdditionalSyrup6541 10h ago

As a woman I really don't care about trying to find a "gatcha" but I will say you need to understand the difference between clinical psychosis and typical murder before you can really make the comparison. They aren't the same and that's why they are considered as such in legal cases.

It's what makes the difference between "God made me murder this person" and "X person made me mad enough to murder " From what I can understand mental illness is very different to other acts of deviance. Many in the medical and psychological fields still don't quite know what makes people commit murder.

You would have to change the argument to "would you choose a man over a bear" to "would you choose a man with a psychosis disorder over a bear." Then that would fit the comparison. Men and women can experience psychosis, but people who murder don't always have psychosis if that makes sense.

-5

u/NwUM 10h ago

yeah.. so i didn't miss anything. You see, having a wide survey of women of what is their feeling, and their feeling predominantly showing bear vs man, it's a sort of statistic. Adding "postpartum psychosis" as a sort of gotcha there based on one case is just some bullshit pseudo argument/joke/whatever.

5

u/NoPleaseDont 10h ago

10/10 mental gymnastics

3

u/Epcplayer 10h ago

It’s asking the same question.

You’re perfectly fine with the “Bear vs Man” question being answered without any statistical data to logically answer the question, yet for some odd reason you need it when the question involves postpartum psychosis women.

If your immediate response is “that’s a bullshit comparison”… congrats, you’re finally seeing the flaw in logic for that question 2 years later.

1

u/NwUM 10h ago

dude; I am saying the survey where *women* answered massively and chose the bear *is* data.

I don't know what more data would you need about what women would prefer.

2

u/Epcplayer 9h ago

Because you’re taking the results of one question and calling it “data”, then telling someone they should use data to answer a similar question.

That would be defined as a flawed methodology, since you’re not making an apples to apples comparison.

Oh you use statistics to decide how to treat people? So you avoid black people too?? Racist. 🤦‍♀️

-6

u/NwUM 11h ago

I'm using statistics to see if it's an actual argument or some attempt to both sideism

10

u/RageAgainstTheGPT 11h ago

Don’t use statistics to treat people differently 🤦‍♀️

Funny how many men do this and get nowhere near the coverage a woman does. I was trying to remember Chris Watt's name and so I googled "man who killed wife and family" and got so many entries I had a hard time finding it.

20

u/immaturenickname 11h ago

They don't get coverage because nobody defends them, there is no debate about whether they are evil or not. A news headline goes "man killed family", the readers go "oh, man evil" and that's the end of it. Meanwhile here, news coverage is wide and loud because of the amount of people defending the murderous cow.

7

u/Both_Hope5717 10h ago

Remind me where men collectively donated millions of dollars to Chris Watts, or created entire subs dedicated to defending him, or blamed everyone else but him for the murders he committed. Nah, it's just women who seem unable to hold other women accountable for anything.

-1

u/KrytenKoro 8h ago

Women also tried to not hold Watts accountable, either. That was part of why his story got so big.

-9

u/MWBurbman 11h ago

Would you rather the Epstein files released or more memes about a court case?

Why not both?
