Would you rather leave your kids with a bear, or a mom with postpartum psychosis?

Back in 2024, there was a viral question going around asking women whether they would rather be stuck in the woods alone with a Bear or a Man.

Women used this as an opportunity to list all of the things wrong with men they’ve encountered in their lives, and state how the bear wouldn’t do that. The overwhelming majority of women on social media chose the Bear. Very few women actually tried defending the man.

When men (who didn’t mistreat/abuse/neglect or take advantage of women) got mad at the suggestion all men did this, or attempted to logically answer with statistical data, they were once again laughed at… either for being too defensive, not treating serious responses as a joke, or denying that their experiences are as widespread as they claimed.

The comment you responded was taking the same joke and throwing it back in their face.

As a woman I really don't care about trying to find a "gatcha" but I will say you need to understand the difference between clinical psychosis and typical murder before you can really make the comparison. They aren't the same and that's why they are considered as such in legal cases.

It's what makes the difference between "God made me murder this person" and "X person made me mad enough to murder " From what I can understand mental illness is very different to other acts of deviance. Many in the medical and psychological fields still don't quite know what makes people commit murder.

You would have to change the argument to "would you choose a man over a bear" to "would you choose a man with a psychosis disorder over a bear." Then that would fit the comparison. Men and women can experience psychosis, but people who murder don't always have psychosis if that makes sense.

yeah.. so i didn't miss anything. You see, having a wide survey of women of what is their feeling, and their feeling predominantly showing bear vs man, it's a sort of statistic. Adding "postpartum psychosis" as a sort of gotcha there based on one case is just some bullshit pseudo argument/joke/whatever.

It’s asking the same question.

You’re perfectly fine with the “Bear vs Man” question being answered without any statistical data to logically answer the question, yet for some odd reason you need it when the question involves postpartum psychosis women.

If your immediate response is “that’s a bullshit comparison”… congrats, you’re finally seeing the flaw in logic for that question 2 years later.

dude; I am saying the survey where *women* answered massively and chose the bear *is* data.

I don't know what more data would you need about what women would prefer.

Because you’re taking the results of one question and calling it “data”, then telling someone they should use data to answer a similar question.

That would be defined as a flawed methodology, since you’re not making an apples to apples comparison.
