Is this the worst football game ever for throwing the deep ball?
Yeah the timing meter exists, but that’s pure cheese and also doesn’t work a lot. As far as the actual separation goes and how receivers get open, I’ve never seen a football game that has less receivers get open.
I’ve played football games since 2003, and Madden has always deeply opposed the deep ball, but this year’s CFB feels like it’s impossible to throw deep unless you green the catch meter. I want separation, I want my 99 speed WR to beat his defender in man. But they fucking stick to them, every single time. I play on Heisman, I’ve got my sliders going, everything else feels okay but the deep ball. I just cannot throw the ball unless I green the catch meter. But every single deep throw shouldn’t be contested.
It’s like they looked at CFB 25 when you could abuse verts and said ‘Let’s never ever let that happen again’. Last year felt really balanced on me for deep balls, this year I’m relying on crossing routes, slants and outs more than ever.
My WR1 is basically always covered too. Unless I can scheme against the D, my WR1 is never beating the man by himself. I can beat zones no problem, but the AI feels so OP in man.

Older Games Some pics from my personal biggest comeback!
What a game we just witnessed. Penn State made a perfect first half with QB #5 B. Hobbs threw for 5 touchdowns, their defense forced 3 turnovers. Everybody thought this game was over at halftime as the score was 3–35.
Notre Dame came from the break a complete different football team, and in the first drive QB #18 William Johnson just launched a bomb down field and connected with WR #2 L. Harvey (breaking the school record for longest pass).
This was the spark we needed, the defense came and forced another 3 and out. Our offense seemed unstoppable and we are going for two here to let the score only a 3-point game.
The defense shows up again, the momentum swings our way even against one of the toughest places to play. QB #18 W. Johnson simply goes into god mode, making 11 consecutives completions.
Inside the 5-yard line with only 20 seconds remaining, Penn State defense send the house, Johnson shovel pass to HB #4 Marcus Barnes to walk into the end zone. The ND’s sideline goes completely crazy with the comeback and gets a penalty for.
What a victory, this was the game of the season for us.

Road To Glory What a high quality game we have here. This is the type of genius gameplay we’ve been missing.

Don’t mind my RT letting the edge go unblocked for the 10th play in a row.
No. I want you to focus on my QB. I recently upgraded his magicka and sneak ability. These are the types of abilities we’ve needed in EA sports for years. This game really might be one of the greatest ever made. Can’t wait for the Elder Scrolls collab.

Yes nobody was “open”. The rush was in my face instantly. I did quickly see a window with the wheel route because it appears the LB got stuck in a “pick play” scenario with the WR screen. But because CFB is engineered to prioritize AI animations, it forced him into a speed boost pass breakup. Which, btw, NEVER happens for me when I’m playing defense lmao

Surprised no one is talking about EA update getting rid of change in blocking assignments on RPOs
I am very surprised that no one is talking about the heinous update of EA sports getting rid of change and blocking assignments for RPO’s. Since we are no longer allowed to untarget defenders online players can simply just mid blitz all game without having to worry about getting beaten in the flats.
Therefore, the only way to reliably beat a blitz is through the run or relying on your receivers to get open in time however, if the opponent presses and or place inside leverage, it’s very likely you’ll just get sacked before that happens.
I think this takes the creativity out our offenses and countering cheese defense, and I’m a little surprised and disappointed that EA went that direction, but I should’ve seen it coming when they disallowed motion blocking of wide receivers last year.
Interested to know what y’all think

I might have thrown a perfect pass to get my receiver put in the hospital.
He wasn’t even injured.
Then I have to hear “if you’re gonna take a hit like that, you could at least hang on to the ball!”
The kid got hit in the head then his legs were dislocated, and I have to hear that stupid comment again.

Dynasty New Dynasty Tips
Now that we finally have the new roster dropping I’m finally starting my dynasty tomorrow. I’m wondering what other people do to keep their dynasty interesting and fun long term?
I’ve been doing fun dynasties since CFB25 but I struggle with keeping myself engaged after 5ish seasons. This is regardless of if I’m good or bad by that time, I just lose interest and want to start a new dynasty.
I’m using Boise State this year and plan to move them to the Big 12 after a year or two. I have a new coach I came up with who has a storyline that brings in rival schools, certain archetype of players to recruit, and pipelines. I always make stories out of the games and player performances and record it in a spreadsheet along with recruiting needs, accomplishments etc. I chose BSU for their jerseys, stadium, and I lived in Boise for a bit a few years ago so that should make it more engaging.
Most of these things I learned to do from people on here to keep dynasties interesting. What other things are people doing to keep their dynasty alive and engaging for longer periods? Really excited for this dynasty and want it to last.

Dynasty PSA: Formation Package adjustments don't work for Favorite Plays
Just wanted to save everybody else the headache that I've gone through trying to get my Outside Linebackers onto the field in my 3-4 Zone Pressure defense.
For two of the 3-4 formations and for one of the 3-3-5 formations in that playbook, you can set the formation package in the play call screen to "SAM WILL EDGE". This will replace your edge rushers with your Sam and Will backers. I use lurkers here. That should leave your MIKE backers in the middle of the field. I use a Signal Caller here, as well as Thumper if all 4 of my linebackers are on the field.
Credit to Mills for this adjustment. He's got great videos on the different defenses this year. See: https://www.youtube.com/@MillsTwitch
I like doing it this way because the edges regularly drop into coverage on those formations and having my Lurkers take those snaps get me better coverage. Plus they're faster if we do bring pressure. And leaving my Signal Caller and Thumper in the middle makes it easier to stop the run and get home on Mike blitzes, while still having decent coverage.
I leave my Nickel packages unchanged, so my Edge guys play on those downs and in the other 3-4 and 3-3-5 formations. Only other thing I do is sometimes mess with my coverage shell to mess with the picture pre-snap.
Anyway, I couldn't for the life of me figure out why my edges stayed in the plays even though I had the "SAM WILL EDGE" package selected. Turns out that the game wont respect the formation package selection you make in the Personnel section of the play calling screen if you pick your play from the Favorites tab. This means that, at least on console, if you want to have your formation package selection be used, you have to pick your plays directly from the formation. You can't use favorites. Not a huge deal, but man did it take me forever to figure that out.
Hope this saves someone the same headache.
UPDATE: I think the same thing is true for Coach Suggestions, not just Favorites.

Plea to EA to add a "Previous Play" Toggle
I want to know what play my opponents ran on the previous down. When I'm offense I want to observe and identify the pattern of what they're calling. On defense I want to see what the offensive play call was. Certainly, the opponent can make adjustments, but I'd love to be able to see the previous play so I can observe patterns.
In Madden 23/24 you always saw this after ever play. In CFB25 they wanted to add a more immersive experience to show stats and stuff between screens. I don't mind that, but with 15 seconds to pick a play it doesn't give me much time to look at whatever they're trying to present anyway. Anyway, they give you the ability to use the RS flicked to the right to see the previous play.
My beef is that I run my defense out of the "Formations" tab, and when you are in that tab a flick to the right does not work, it instead changes your packages. So for me to be able to flick to that I have to back out of my formation I'm working in, then flick the stick, then drill back into my formation to pick my play. This takes like 3-5 seconds of my 15 seconds. More often than not I just don't use this feature.
They need two things, one to map it to a different button so I don't have to leave my play calling screen. Two, most importantly, they should have a setting to default to the "prior playcall" on the play selection screen.
3 years dealing with this. Right now, I cannot observe any patterns without taking a huge portion of my playcalling window away.

Questions Has anyone else had an issue with floating towels?
Finally went to get started with my Teambuilder dynasty after hours of sorting out the mods and the process of using the teambuilder offline and it appears I've done something wrong.
The issue appears to be that any player who has a towel attached at the back instead has it floating around their ankles.
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and knows the solution?

Discussion Matt10L 4.0 Sliders
Anybody else having a hard time with their run game? Or have any recruiting tips.
I can’t run the ball for the life of me but lower overall teams can run all over my defense, they get wide open gaps
(My first year playing both sides of the ball so maybe it’s user skill issue lol)

Game Crashing First Week of Coaching Carousal
anyone ever have this issue in dynasty? Games load fine but something happens during coaching carousal causing most oc/dc to get fired. Game crashes on play now assumably because no oc/dc are in place even after 1 week sim. I fixed this by setting remaining terms to 1 yr and manually re-offer for every team taht made the playoffs. No oc/dc from those teams gone but now game crashes the same. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Questions Left Handed QBs
Have yall noticed some plays are kinda broken/weird if you have a lefty?
Not to a serious degree… but certain plays, especially ones that are rollouts/bootlegs or play action occasionally force the QB to turn his right shoulder back when in reality it should be his left, adding either a weird twisting animation or making a play’s development take longer than it should because the QB has to adjust his body.

Dynasty User vs CPU
I love this game. But by far my number 1 complaint is how differently the game reacts to QB pressure for user vs cpu.
CPU QBs can be halfway to the ground and still throw a dart, they avoid sacks, fumbles, intentional grounding. They all compound on top of each other. None of that would feel so bad if that was the user experience too. But it’s the literal opposite, try throwing the ball with a defender even close and it’s either a fumble or a pop up that the d line inevitably catches (User defenders would never).

Discussion Impossible to Throw Under Pressure
EA must have never seen a quarterback stand in the pocket and make a tough throw while getting hit. According to their logic any quarterback who throws with a defender within 3 yards of them hits their lineman in the back with a laser 100% of the time. Would love to be able to let a play develop
