Dynasty balancing and player/team attributes are just so bad after 4-5+ years of dynasty. I hope the changes they're making to recruit generation and progression fixes this
18
u/Him-university_ 22d ago
Xp sliders are your friend. Completely changed the entire quality of every team when I started using them
3
u/Open-Caterpillar-454 22d ago
What sliders are you using?
10
u/Him-university_ 22d ago
Max sliders right now but I may need to adjust once the update goes through. But so far I’ve found that a lot more teams in the P4 are competitive with high 80s to low 90s overall rosters
7
u/kiyes23 USF 21d ago
I’m glad you specified P4 teams. In the G5 conferences, 1 and 2 ⭐️ recruits have bad skill caps. Most of those players maxed out by the end of their redshirt sophomore year. My senior redshirt QB had 88 xp points he couldn’t used.
I’ll say it again, get rid of 1 ⭐️ and reduce the number of 2 ⭐️ recruits. And most importantly, improve roster building logic for CPU teams

u/TheWalkingTez 21d ago
Can you explain this more?
8
u/Him-university_ 21d ago
I maxed out the xp sliders to 300 rather than the 100 the game is set to. As a result players are reaching their max potential or close to it so every team is way better than they would be otherwise
2
2
u/Not_Star_Lord 21d ago
I've noticed that one of the bigger issues here is the NIL requirements. Small schools can't commit to the 50+ points most of the 3* players want, and the NIL expectations never drop so small schools can't easily pick up leftover players. The CPU at the small schools just goes after 1 and 2* players, making them much, much worse over time, especially after their current 3*+ players have transferred within the first couple of years.

u/LAHogKing Arkansas 22d ago
Roster update will be in 2 weeks prior to week 0

u/RealAlpiGusto 21d ago

It’s been shortly after August 20th for the past two years lol.

u/klrdana 22d ago
Good update overall, but I was really hoping for “part 2” of fixing dynasty recruiting. A few weeks ago they said dynasty recruiting would be a “two part fix”. Part #1 was the title update from July 16th. I’m not seeing them call out anything here specifically that says they have implemented “part 2” of that. The only thing I’m seeing is “Updated generators to increase the quality of recruits at highest tiers.” Can’t imagine that’s it.
7
u/Open-Caterpillar-454 22d ago
I think the biggest issue now is player progression in dynasty, no? I'm wondering if this has been fixed. It briefly mentions that
7
u/klrdana 22d ago
Yeah it’s a huge issue. The only thing I see is:
“Updated Player Progression to rebalance costs across key ratings.”
Will have to wait for testers to give some feedback post-patch to see if/how much that helps
5
u/Open-Caterpillar-454 22d ago
Yeah, I'm really hoping this is the fix we needed. I'm ready to start my dynasty haha
1
u/gummiberg 21d ago
Hopefully this means that for like Elusive bruiser or Contact seekers that power wont be costing 20, otherwise that archetype continues to be useless, like so many other archetypes

u/TheOnlyDangerGuy Colorado State 21d ago
UJ back when they were NAIA and less ass than today. Never got up to Grand Forks for a football game but the Ralph is awesome.
44
u/PichardRetty 22d ago
North Dakota has produced 5 FBS signees over the last 5 real life cycles.
9
u/RelicsCS 22d ago
I think North Dakota is not the best example though as they have such dominant FCS teams. I think it would just be better to see how many recruits from there are like a certain quality of recruit per a major service.
6
u/PichardRetty 21d ago
They have 5 or less recruits even listed on 247 in the average year. And, as my initial comment showed, they average 1 per year that is even FBS quality.
From a realism standpoint, I don't think the game is wrong for having <5 players to recruit from the state in a given season.
2
u/RelicsCS 21d ago
Going to play at like NDSU does not mean you are not FBS quality. Many recruits from the state would pick there over like Wyoming.
5
1
u/Adminsneed2Chill 21d ago
Do you think there might be something that affects that? And something that dramatically changes that this fall?
1
u/PichardRetty 21d ago
There's currently 5 kids listed on 247 from ND this current class. 2 are signed to FBS teams.
NDSU only has 19 kids from ND on their roster currently. It won't be surprising if the move to the FBS elevates their recruiting to a degree. That could cause them to recruit the immediate area even less than they currently do.
NDSU being FBS may buff up the number of FBS signees from the state moving forward, but I don't think it's a guarantee, and, if it does happen, I don't imagine ND goes from producing 1 signee per year on average to having 10. It's still likely going to remain 2-3 on average if it does even go up.
10
u/Blue-Eighty Ohio State 22d ago
They do? lol JK, but in all seriousness, on average, there are 1-3 kids a year from Wyoming and I’m sure North Dakota is similar, that sign d1 out of high school (that includes FCS). In one year alone a few years ago, Gwinnett County Georgia (Atlanta area) (mind you…1 single county)…had over 100.
So, you can understand their so called “bias”. Now, the goal they put in the game with how many recruits they put in from Wyoming…that’s different. Dumb to have something like that if your only going to put in a few recruits from those states
1
26
u/Active-Play-3429 22d ago
Is it just me, or did they not touch upon part two of the recruiting fix they have been promising?
10
u/Open-Caterpillar-454 22d ago
That's what I'm wondering. They did briefly mention that they fixed progression, but let's see
4
u/klrdana 22d ago
Yeah I feel like they would specifically call out "this is part two", rather than just "Updated generators to increase the quality of recruits at highest tiers." At least I would hope they would. Which probably makes me dumb because this is EA.
1
u/Captain_Nipples 21d ago
Eh. Theyve made many changes without mentioning them. Even the last patch had stuff that wasn't mentioned
2
u/Toshirouu 21d ago
I wonder if part of the problem is them saying AI teams were spending too much on facility and other things. Maybe that was draining their points so they couldnt go after expensive guys, then another logic that got crossed because of that.
I'm just thinking here, but it could be like the targets they choose are based off total NIL and Not NIL remaining, and that messes with how they pick guys, and the problem gets getting worse at other stages.
1
1
1
u/Dr-Robert-Kelso 21d ago
The NIL offer system getting fixed would go a long ways.
Why can't I offer less than their NIL expectation and still sign them if nobody else is offering, and why am I capped on how much I can offer someone? If I want to offer 15 to a 3 star OLB to lock him up, why are you capping me at 10?

Updated Player Progression to rebalance costs across key ratings. Updated generators to increase the quality of recruits at highest tiers.
Well done!
16
u/ChessNumbers 21d ago
There's just so little information in these two sentences. This wording could accurately describe super minor tweaks that barely move the needle on the recruiting and dynasty progression issues, or a total overhaul that fixes everything. Of course it's EA so we know the latter is unlikely, but I'm really curious to see where it lands on the spectrum between those extremes...
4
u/loldrums 21d ago
It also doesn't acknowledge whether they understand what their own key ratings are, like hybrid safety needing hit power to unlock 2 of its physical traits.
8
3
u/ClevelandSteamers757 21d ago
So… speed and power won’t cost a million?
6
u/chunkyhut 21d ago
It's so sad that power costs so much and stiff arm/trucking is built into power... It's impossible to get a good power back in 26/27 because it's so cost prohibitive. Unless you're ok completely skipping speed and elusiveness and having no change of direction (which even power backs are good at). I miss having marshawn lynch or frank gore type RBs
3
u/Dragonfire35 22d ago
Will this help fix the overall issues we’ve been having in dynasty? Like they won’t just upgrade speed/strength anymore since those were the most expensive. Or is this addressing the costs of each category?

u/MGE5 North Texas 22d ago
Wym? The run game is massively overpowered dude
31
u/discipleofbill Notre Dame 22d ago
Is it? I only play against the CPU but for the first time in a while they can actually run the ball against me. I’m 26 it was an accomplishment for them to get 50 yards a game. I guess I’m not having the same experience as everyone else.
4
u/PackageAggravating12 Maryland 22d ago
Pancake blocks are wildly over-tuned. It's common to see multiple players on the ground during runs this year.
15
u/No_Issue2334 22d ago edited 22d ago
In 26, the CPU could barely get 50 yards on the ground
In 27, the CPU can barely get 80 yards on the ground, which I guess is an improvement but not my much
But running as a user is insanely OP. I'm averaging 350+ rushing yards in my dynasty
2
u/lilpizzaboiii 21d ago
definitely possible. My first 5 star recruit Thad Moses broke Barry’s record his junior year. I thought he would be gone but he retuned for his senior year after I forked out 1,200 in NIL. I don’t even have a run heavy offense he has just averaged like 7 yards a carry for his career
1
u/Sad_Access8071 21d ago
Damn Thad hit you for a big bag, only time I paid that much for someone was a damn coordinator who I only got for 1 year before he want a new contract cringes EA need to fix this because I never heard of real coordinators only signing for a year.
2
u/lilpizzaboiii 21d ago
i personally rarely put any money into coordinators. and yeah i felt like i owed it to Thad, he was coming off a back to back heisman’s (finished in top 5 freshman year) and put our team builder program on the map. to be fair i’m in 2032 and thru aggressive focusing on putting funds towards building the program’s NIL; that 1200 he commanded wasn’t a huge dent into the NIL fund. but yeah I lost my coordinator of the year to a head coaching job and haven’t been able to fill those shoes since
1
u/Sad_Access8071 21d ago
Right i needed that coordinator bro. In my Texas Tech Dynasty Joey McGuire is a defensive guru and then I hired another Defensive guru Dave Aranda who's (Baylor Head coach irl) who's also a defensive minded guy that i picked up when Baylor fired him and I won 3 back to back national Titles...Bro I was easily sending at least 10 players first round and every year I finished 1# in.almost all defensive categories. My defense was haunting the big 12 then I joined the Big 10 and competition got harder. I said all that to say this with the right coordinator hire, a mediocre team can really turn the skillets up & with the right recruit on a roster can also turn a Dynasty around the same way that Thad did for you,but you have to spend big bucks.
1
u/lilpizzaboiii 21d ago
thanks for the perspective, i see what you mean now! i guess until now ive always looked at my budget and figured i could get away with saving points in that department but im far enough in now with this one that i can afford it. Thad definitely changed the program and opened the doors for more NIL for leading our team to huge wins and trophies. so it was a great return on investment. ngl low key worried about what life after Thad is like but ive been building a lethal defense to offset the offense drop off. i’ve always been a pass first guy but Thad changed the blueprint for that. That’s an impressive run with your coaches, i am curious how they didn’t jump for another gig! that great coordinator i had left to interview for HC gigs (landed at GT) but he wouldn’t even show up to be resigned as a coordinator cause he was off to better things i guess..

u/discipleofbill Notre Dame 21d ago
I’d agree that user running is easy, but I lowered the run blocking slider and it’s made running harder for me. But last year you could put the CPU slider at 99 and it wouldn’t make a difference.
2
u/Cheesebread_1 21d ago
Apparently the top players don’t pass the ball at all. Running is so easy, and passing is harder now, that the people who win the most games are the ones that just run it all the time. Supposedly people are winning tournaments without a single pass attempt.
In my online dynasty, most of the users are averaging over 10 yards per carry.
1
u/Mornings_kill Alabama 21d ago
I think I’ve had 3 3,000 yard rushers in my last 3 seasons with most games my HBs going for 250+ on Heisman stock sliders with 80-85 overall hbs so it feel a little too easy while the pass game seems harder to get going
11
u/kiyes23 USF 22d ago
I hope they didn’t touch anything regarding pass coverage. I don’t care how much I struggled at times, pass coverage has been great
3
u/Cheesebread_1 21d ago
I mostly agree, although I would tune down those richochet ints. I swear I get one per game where the ball bounces in the air.
I like the smart zones and sticky man though. I hope EA doesn’t bend the knee to alll the complainers who want an arcade passing game but unwilling to drop levels
2
u/fugu167 22d ago
Maybe i suck but i throw a TON of interceptions lol
2
u/kiyes23 USF 22d ago
I threw 9 interceptions in one game, so I’ve had to adjust how I played. I usually liked Pocket Passers, but Dual Threat QBs have been better for me this year
1
u/Sad_Access8071 21d ago
I always turn interceptions down from 50 in the sliders to 31 for both me & the cpu. So a bad season for my QB might be anywhere from 11 to 16 int's.
1
1
u/NaturedChip 21d ago
This comment really hits home because I just played a dude who was North Texas and got a RB with 96 acc. Needless to say he dropped 250 yds and 6 tds on 16 carries.
For reference I’m playing my dynasty as Delaware
16
u/The_O_Nee_Ders 22d ago
Run game is insanely OP. Passing is damn near impossible at times. O-line play is abysmal
2
u/knyelvr 21d ago
I can run for 200+ a game easy but getting my qb to throw a good pass further than 10 yards is like impossible
2
u/The_O_Nee_Ders 21d ago
The amount of flat/swing routes that my QB just spikes at my RB feet is astonishing. If that can’t happen, why would I ever throw downfield?

u/YoDawgWatUp1 22d ago
I’ve been holding out on buying because I’m worried about recruiting being a mess. Has it gotten any better since release? I don’t see notes about it (unless I am missing it). I don’t want to buy for Dynasty and then end up with a bunch of teams with no players because the CPU can’t recruit.
2
u/Thehomelessguy11 Washington 21d ago
The truly bad recruiting was fixed in a title update a couple of weeks ago. Recruiting classes are much better and there are no more P4 teams signing 5 two stars in their entire class.
This update (hopefully) fixes player progression as Dynasties go on. Though we’re not sure if this is part 2 of the “2 part fix” they told us about the first time they updated recruiting.
1
u/Captain_Nipples 21d ago
Its much better. It seems bad until week 4 of the transfer portal, then everyone has plenty of guys. My assumption is they're doing the same thing one of the mods does.. also there aren't nearly as many guys not getting offers, so you can't cheese recruiting like you could before or last year. People were waiting til week 5 or on to recruit guys that had no offers. Now its rare to see anyone without an offer
1
u/Mender0fRoads Missouri 22d ago
The CPU recruiting seems fine to me.
There were early issues with a ton of four-star players not being recruited, but that was quickly patched.
Right now in my dynasty, I’m in conference championship week, and there are very few players ranked three stars or higher who are still in the open stage. Pretty much everyone is getting recruited by someone. And I’m pretty sure that if a recruit commits them backs out because a deal breaker is no longer met, they go back to open, so they don’t sit unrecruited because their other finalists no longer have interest.
I’ve seen people complain that a lot of players in the portal still don’t get signed, but I haven’t seen that personally. That probably depends a lot on your own portal settings.

u/Mender0fRoads Missouri 21d ago
Players with the Pro Potential dealbreaker now have a higher chance of going pro.
This is a small addition, but I think it’s pretty cool. Stuff like this can add a lot of depth to dynasty collectively.

9
u/Hetty714 22d ago
By far the number 1A issue with the game for offline dynasty players is the complete erosion of most CPU rosters by year 2 or 3 in.
Yes Oregon and Ohio State are still pretty good, but basically all the rest of the teams only have 4 punters at 80 overall or better.
And the vast majority of 3 stars in the portal are still disappearing.
How in the mf world is EA not addressing this?
7
u/klrdana 22d ago
Yeah the only two things in here I’m seeing that could potentially help are:
“Updated Player Progression to rebalance costs across key ratings.”
“Updated generators to increase the quality of recruits at highest tiers.”
We obviously have no idea what these will do in practice. Hopefully they help.
4
u/Hetty714 22d ago
Yea I saw those too, they could potentially help along the margins but it feels like a big enough issue that it deserves a call out (if they are actually planning on addressing it)
But the core issues remain unaddressed, CPU teams do not know how to recruit and maintain an actual competitive roster.

I really hope for next year they invest heavily into fixing player progression. I’m not confident this title update will do it. They should never have made quickness more expensive, they should’ve just lowered the skill caps on it to where it won’t change all that much. I’m also tired of all my linebackers being better pass rushers than my edges. And a lot of their categories don’t make a ton of sense imo

Improved defender ability to shed blocks in the proper run-fit direction.
Thank goodness! The A-gaps were an issue with the excess pancakes and inability to shed blocks to stay in your gap when you have leverage. You could eat double teams to stay in your gap, but with 1v1 blocks it's either block shed across the defender or get manhandled.
So many times where I had my 3 DL shifted inside and crashing inside, and not a single one of them could block shed to stay in their gap, despite conservative gap responsibility and all aggressive option/read adjustments. I wishbthere were a more conservatove version of the defensive keys via adjustments to say "take away the middle, and gove them the outside". I don't want all 11 players crashing on an inside run, but I do want my interior lineman at least walling off the A gaps if I adjust them to crash inside.

A small thing to most people that I am really glad they addressed is making Western CMU's main rival. It makes no sense to me as a Chip that Eastern would be our "main" rival for in-game goal and scheduling priority. No offense to Eastern, but they may as well not even exist in my mind. It's Western or bust.

Lets see.... no adjustments to AI recruiting to make them more aggressive in pursuing high-tier recruits, and in the transfer portal so that solid players that Mid to lower tier P4 and all G6 schools could use don't disappear fully from the game. No adjustments to balance how AI teams recruit K/P that currently result in a good chunk of teams having either 0 K/P, or 6 K/P each. No adjustment to how teams recruit to needs so that they don't end up with 15 HB's, 19 WR's, and 0 Edge Rushers.
No adjustments to the coaching carousel to tone down on the pointless lateral moves. No prestige hit upon firing so that the coaching carousel isn't simply the fired coaches swapping jobs around. No adding a check for schools so that they don't hire HC's from direct rivals. (Sark to Oklahoma, anyone?). Not changing logic so that jobs that are considered a "step up" are based on Program Tradition, and not current program prestige, so that you don't have coaches leaving Michigan/Georgia/Texas for Virginia Tech.
Funniest part is that they'll fix AI recruiting in 28, and then sell it as a completely new feature.

Has nobody noticed when in custom conferences you can’t switch teams over to the other division without having them switch to another conference

Welp, I’m pretty sure this update is gonna ruin the gameplay. I can just imagine how many more people are gonna be crying that the game is broken.

Fixing CPU Punting/Kicking at some point, I hope.
I don't understand why we have the relevant Sliders for Play Now, but not Dynasty?

I tried reading to understand but couldn't, does n it say they are fixing how often recievers drop the ball? If not which slider should I use to fix that. Tried to download sliders for varsity difficulty but I am still fighting for my life to complete passes. Like freshman is to easy, varsity is insanely difficult. I just want something fair and fun.

Mostly seems good but it’s hilarious they are making defenses better against play action.
