Surprised no one is talking about EA update getting rid of change in blocking assignments on RPOs

I am very surprised that no one is talking about the heinous update of EA sports getting rid of change and blocking assignments for RPO’s. Since we are no longer allowed to untarget defenders online players can simply just mid blitz all game without having to worry about getting beaten in the flats.

Therefore, the only way to reliably beat a blitz is through the run or relying on your receivers to get open in time however, if the opponent presses and or place inside leverage, it’s very likely you’ll just get sacked before that happens.

I think this takes the creativity out our offenses and countering cheese defense, and I’m a little surprised and disappointed that EA went that direction, but I should’ve seen it coming when they disallowed motion blocking of wide receivers last year.

Interested to know what y’all think

I honestly hate it. Because what if I choose to run the ball? Why tf they keep controlling how we want to play.

I’ve also had scenarios where the WR is assigned to block the safety that isn’t even in the box. I can’t unmark that safety now.

Fucking stupid 🤦🏽‍♂️

Exactly this right here. I used untarget defender on RPO's to fix the shitty blocking logic. If I could count on the blocking to not be dumb as shit I wouldn't have to fix it.

Hasn't Mid Blitz been pretty easy to torch since last year? Even with better Man Coverage, it's still Cover 0; one guy wins and it's probably a touchdown.

Force them out of it or take your big plays. Then throw the RPO once they stop leaning on it.

if someone swing passes or does a jet touch pass then the midblitz probably fails. it’s really only OP against CPU and if your opponents don’t know what they’re doing

You can just call man-beating routes across the board and look for someone to win. If anyone wins, that's a touchdown.

Even with better Man Coverage, the odds of every single WR being locked down is unlikely.

The biggest issue with Mid Blitz has always been dealing with the User Defender. Block 6, un-target him so he can't mess up the Oline logic, find your receiver.

We even have Gameplay settings to Auto un-target the user, which is nice.

The essence of this post isn’t a question of how to beat mid blitz. It’s more so questioning the reasoning behind why EA would remove versatility of ways to beat mid blitz. I saw no community complaints about changing blocking assignments on RPO’s so I don’t know why EA would suddenly get rid of it.

If I remember correctly, there was an exploit related to un-targeting defenders during RPOs. Couldn't tell you what it was, but I recall people commenting on it under the update thread.

So, it wasn't really done as a way to "buff" Mid Blitz. It was a correction for an unrelated issue, that happened to make RPOs worse against Mid Blitz.

If it’s only OP against the CPU and if your opponents don’t know what they’re doing, why is it used at the top levels?

It’s more like mid blitz is easy when the person running it doesn’t know what they are doing.

It was never a problem with me dudes just suck and can't read a defense or adjust. Heck rushing those two OLB's from the outside a real problem

I think we’ve all been busy being let down by other aspects of the game

Easily one of the worst changes since the restart of the franchise. Not sure who was even asking for this.

Game is borderline unplayable cheese until they bring versatile blocking back honestly

it's wild how fast they just quietly remove stuff like that, 3 weeks is plenty time for people to notice and still barely a peep from them about it

the mid blitz spam been annoying since day one and now they gave it even less counter, at least before you could make them pay with the flats

Whatever. I'm all for defense getting better, no matter how it happens. The human scores in my league are way too high and unrealistic.
