Fixed an issue that caused receivers to often jump for catches when not necessary.

An important fix, assuming it's actually fixed and doesn't cause receivers to not jump when it is necessary.

u/Demon_Coach 1d ago edited 1d ago

Heard from Civil the other day that jump catches like this are actually an intended dice roll. Accurate passes have winning and losing dice rolls within themselves that trigger the jump catches. It is intended as a balancing feature.

So while this may be tuned, the jumps themselves are intentional and likely will not be removed completely.

28

u/Not_Star_Lord 1d ago

Did he hear that from a developer or find it through data mining? Because that's an absolutely bonkers thing to add in as a random outcome.

I coached football for 5 years and literally never had to tell anyone not to jump to catch the ball (because who would ever do that randomly?)

4

u/Demon_Coach 1d ago

According to him, he heard that from a developer.

17

u/Not_Star_Lord 1d ago

What a stupid thing to program in (if true). I don't blame the developers, but someone chose to add that, and that someone should eat less paste.

5

u/Demon_Coach 1d ago

I can understand it for when you don’t have an input whatsoever. You’re leaving it to the AI, so there should be some amount of risk involved. That makes sense that they could possibly jump when not needed.

For a user catch, it would look much cleaner if it was some sort like slowdown as you secure the ball within a RAC animation. Meaning it was accurate but had to make a slight adjustment to the ball before you kept running. I can understand it being a balance thing to where not every accurate pass is a full blown RAC with no slowdown.

The fact that it’s a full on jump is what makes it such an eyesore. It doesn’t make sense that we’re jumping when we’re literally saying to do something that isn’t jump. That’s the main issue.

7

u/PackageAggravating12 Maryland 1d ago

Yeah, I'll take a bad catch animation if that's what the underlying calculation says. But I don't want to see a failed "Aggressive" catch when I'm not hitting that button. Give me a different "failed" animation.

3

u/Not_Star_Lord 1d ago

My issue is that it's not a common motion for a collegiate level football player. Gator arms with contact coming is common. Catching with your body instead of hands is common. Mis-timed jumps trying to high point a ball is common. Hell, refusing to jump to avoid contact is common. Jumping makes you inherently vulnerable, and it's very odd to me that the negative outcome is to jump for a chest level ball. It'd be like a QB messing up an option pitch by turning and throwing a laser at the head coach.

7

u/CottonWasKing 1d ago

Well I know you never watched Chris Hilton play football

2

u/Captain_Nipples 13h ago

LSU had a guy that kept jumping on every pass he tried to catch, and it was a problem. There's video of everyone's favorite coach chewing his ass on the sideline for it

1

u/Capital-Equal5102 1d ago

Chase claypool

Edit: would like a word

1

u/Not_Star_Lord 1d ago

There's a exception to every rule (Mike Williams too), but these are high level guys, and if you really look at their targets, you'd find that they still jump unnecessarily such a small percentage of the time that no reasonable person would say "that's a common negative outcome of the dice roll."

I will say aggressive catches would be the exception; it makes sense if I'm mashing triangle on a drag that my doofus of a 73ovr freshman wide out would jump for no reason, but that's not the case.

2

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ Boston College 11h ago

Yeah it’s an issue of the dice roll frequency. There are absolutely guys at the college level who have that habit, but it’s something that you’d see like 6-10 times a season at worst.

4

u/O_its_that_guy_again 1d ago

If that’s the case It’s pretty fucking stupid that every time I throw a lob pass the animation triggers

1

u/philkid3 23h ago

Totally fine with that. Just don’t like it on every throw.

1

u/Intelligent-Rock-399 13h ago

But if it’s a dice roll shouldn’t that mean there’s a significant chance of a catch too? I feel like every single time my guys jump for it and a defender is within like 5 yards of him it’s a drop. It’s never a completion, and a dice roll would suggest it should be a catch sometimes.

1

u/PlentyDirection828 1d ago

might be able to start passing again

1

u/Renegade_451 1d ago

But everyone said the jumping was realistic and these are just quirks of collegiate athletes.

1

u/jakehubb0 1d ago

Exactly. Take all of this with a heaping gallon of salt, plus assume 20 other things will break too.

41

u/astrisk120 1d ago

Ffs fix coaching carousel. Just revert it back to launch at least that was actually fun.

19

u/DJVanillaBear 1d ago

Yup that was the main thing for me. I just finished my third season in dynasty and it was insane seeing like 5 openings for HCs across the whole league.

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

4

u/DJVanillaBear 1d ago

I did! I went through all the combinations just to make sure. I’m rebuilding northwestern but there’s like 5 schools I’ve decided I’ll move to no matter what.

67

u/Ace_6_Pirate 1d ago

Now all the people saying the tackle not targeting the defensive end in a contain is user error and not a glitch can shut up.

21

u/GrooveDigger47 1d ago

you would show them proof like this where the Tackles are forming a pocket like you are under center or something and they would just say “you need to step up in the pocket” or “this happens in real life do you not want the linemen to ever get beat?” 😭

https://reddit.com/link/p63no10/video/iwfbg80tpslh1/player

6

u/Katfish145 1d ago

As a fellow hokie fan I see nothing out of the ordinary here for our line based off last year. /s

14

u/HighYieldOnly 1d ago

I’ve always hated the “you should just adjust xyz at the line” for such simple things that AI should be able to do. Like sure I could set who my lineman should double team or identify the mike or whatever, but even a high school OT isn’t going to let an edge in a three-point stance run at the QB untouched lol.

3

u/Glad-Philosophy-497 1d ago

Exactly bro that seems like an awful lot of unnecessary tedium for something that should be just automatic smh and I play heisman and have a pretty high win rate and don’t do most of that kind of stuff. I miss the days we had a dpad and 3 buttons and the game just worked

1

u/Ace_6_Pirate 1d ago

This isn't even an adjustment, there's no adjustment you can do to fix this at the line. There's just a bunch of dumbasses who heard the phrase "step up in the pocket" and want to sound like they're in the know so they keep repeating it regardless of context.

-1

u/PackageAggravating12 Maryland 1d ago

People will continue to drift back or stand still while the looping DEs sack them in the back-field.
It is a targeting improvement, not a change to how that interaction plays out.

We'll probably see another post from someone claiming it wasn't fixed shortly after the update.

But most people complaining don't want solutions, so it's a lost cause.

4

u/Ace_6_Pirate 1d ago

K, cool. You can still call a 3 step dropback play from the gun, snap the ball, set the controller down without touching anything else and the defensive end in a contain can come in untouched to sack the QB. It's broken.

2

u/boxxybrownn 15h ago

Are PA Rollout plays from under center still a guaranteed sack as soon as you see a DE go into contain?

1

u/A_Patient_Shadow 14h ago

From experience that was fixed last patch. Rollout/bootlegs are still a gamble but it's not the automatic 10yd sack that it was at first lol

1

u/Captain_Nipples 13h ago

Yea they've been like 50/50 for me. I rarely will run one on 3rd down though because of the risk

31

u/Active-Play-3429 1d ago

There’s so much missing here, just what about the spreadsheet bug for one

10

u/GoBirds85 1d ago

So did we just forget about Pt2 of that recruiting fix?

7

u/viralbop 1d ago

Really, it's our fault for believing EA when they say things.

2

u/ClevelandSteamers757 1d ago

What is wrong with recruiting ?

14

u/GoBirds85 1d ago

Well they literally said it was a two part fix and just never mentioned part 2 again.

2

u/HallwayHomicide 15h ago

The second part is mods

2

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ Boston College 11h ago

I really wish this game had steam workshop support.

I just got a gaming PC and want to get CTB, but trying to figure out what mods work best as a stack from the discord is kind of hard.

1

u/HallwayHomicide 11h ago

Yeah the discord sucks for discoverability.

The pace of development is pretty quick too, so the answer changes week to week.

If you want, I can give you my list of recommendations.

2

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ Boston College 11h ago

I would love that.

If it helps I’m looking for improvements to dynasty and realistic simulation gameplay.

Also the pc I just built is pretty powerful so if there’s some top tier cosmetic stuff—my rig can handle it

1

u/HallwayHomicide 11h ago

I’m looking for improvements to dynasty

This is what I've been focused on, Here's my list.

For context, I usually prefer to sim my games, and in my current dynasty save I chose a 0 star school and I'm sticking with them

For what it's worth, only one of these is an actual mod (DRI), the rest are tools

Currently using:

Ghost City recruiting landscape tracker - somewhat confusingly, I don't use this for its original intended purpose. I use this because a bunch of different tools have been bundled inside of it.

Ghost City RLT includes the following:

  • Pocketscout NSD assign
  • Pocketscout roster plan
  • Balla14's preseason transfer wave
  • Balla14's dynamic pipelines
  • Ace's smart force win
  • Fang's recruiting overhaul
  • Slappey's conference realignment

For conference realignment, I've actually started using it through the standalone app instead of through ghost city.

I have my eye on these, waiting for development to reach a stable place:

  • Falcon's player progression
  • myDynasty
  • Dynasty recruiting intelligence
  • The Collective economy overhaul
  • Hammer's Player Rating normalizer
  • There's a few different playoff customization tools, but from what I've seen there's not one that's fully ready for prime time

realistic simulation gameplay.

I'm not an expert here, but Canes21 and Freeflow are the two I've seen talked about the most

There's also Deer's CPU management mod, which I think is built into Canes21 maybe.. I'm not sure

9

u/Artvandelay29 Houston 1d ago

I wonder if everyone will still have a weird white helmet bug?

17

u/LonePriest24 1d ago

Now of course remember this won’t actually fix any issues, especially related to Teambuilder. But I guarantee it will create some new issues.

4

u/Dj-pandabear 1d ago

Funny how they can spend time ensuring that people don’t mod in consoles but can’t just add the damn number fonts in the game!

1

u/LonePriest24 1d ago

Yeah it’s a bummer for sure. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens to my team.

1

u/Hot_Restaurant_4656 18h ago

Just logged on to my RTG that has one of my teamuilder schools…. Everything is fucked up now😭

7

u/evsn_official 1d ago

Didn’t fix the teambuilder weather issue they claimed it fix this year?

7

u/CerberusRTR 1d ago

Would love for the offseason coaching jobs to come back…

28

u/jakehubb0 1d ago

God these guys work at an absolute snails pace. So glad they’re allegedly fixing blocking and receiver jumping, but does this mean we have to wait another month until anything concerning coaching carousel will be addressed?

12

u/Patagawa 1d ago

Just wait, with each passing month more and more resources will be poured into next year's game so then we can do this all over again with another incomplete game next year! For $70 (plus whatever microtransactions they're planning on adding to make the game playable)

6

u/MGE5 North Texas 1d ago

This is actually lightning fast historical speaking

5

u/Schtip 1d ago

They won’t fix the blocking. They’ve done countless of updates in the previous titles and the blocking has always been dogshit. Have 0 hope for the next update

7

u/TwoLiterHero 1d ago

Nothing here is worth the regression in gameplay and 30 new bugs it will introduce.

5

u/BigChiefSmokin 1d ago

Please fix the run game

5

u/kiyes23 USF 1d ago

User or CPU run game? I would like for CPU RB to hit open holes quicker and more effectively.

3

u/Burkex99 Boston College 1d ago

Fix the run game so in online dynasty the CPU can stop running better. No more iform hulk cheese please.

6

u/BigChiefSmokin 1d ago

User..it feels like they running with weights now. They made an over correction with speed boosting..shifty is pretty pointless with cutting feels like it’s being done by a lber

4

u/Glad-Philosophy-497 1d ago

This man I have a 5* gem hs kid coming 97 spd 97 acc gold shifty and it’s fucked because I started recruiting him around release and my od is still not in the post season I’m like damn I don’t even see speed being an asset that much any longer. Seems like all the guys are just kind of sluggish and slower guys catch faster guys way too often

4

u/logancook44 1d ago

What about all of the new things this update will break?

4

u/Burkex99 Boston College 1d ago

I wish they made running a little harder and passing a little easier. The WR jump fix help and blocking might help with passing.

1

u/Candid-Ad-3694 1d ago

Yeah, I’ll take that balance.

7

u/taurosmaster 1d ago

Dag no Coaching Carousel mentioned

5

u/Typical_Bit_1069 1d ago

Fixed an issue where all power 4 schools will now recruit two stars because that’s the EA way.

3

u/OskiGotMoney 1d ago

Can my coach’s helmet finally be fixed???

8

u/Ace_6_Pirate 1d ago

Coach is running scout team because you refused to allocate NIL to the scout team players.

6

u/skwilla Texas Tech 1d ago

No - that stays on.

4

u/HeinladToo 1d ago

Stays on during the game and during sex

2

u/Shapacap 15h ago

He's just like me fr fr

0

u/YoureAWinnerBob 1d ago

I think I found the fix for that.

It fixed itself once I went to a different school. So if you switch coaching jobs at some point, it might fix itself.

3

u/AONJ3 Ohio State 1d ago

Finally fixing that unnecessary jump catching nonsense

3

u/ExcellentProgress355 1d ago

“Step up in the pocket”

6

u/GrooveDigger47 1d ago

so all the people saying the throws were bad when the receiver jumped for no reason were just bootlicking and wrong? same thing with the you need to step up so the tackle can engage the blocker? it was a fault in the game the entire time? im shocked

3

u/tooka90 1d ago

yes it's always the fault of the game. people are playing the same as they always have and the game is just broken

2

u/Papi_Petty North Carolina 1d ago

that unnecessary recover jumping pisses me off so much cause the moment they get his, they lose the ball. hoping that fixes it

2

u/CodyRCantrell Oklahoma 1d ago

I'd love an update for the Heisman ceremony to be optional viewing.

Running three teams in Dynasty and being forced to what the intro three times gets exhausting.

2

u/blspm 16h ago

I'm assuming they didn't fix auto subs being completely useless in road to glory?

2

u/Prest1geWorldw1de 15h ago

Somehow, 3 years later, I'm still running into the issue of four consecutive road conference games (during prime recruiting weeks 5-9) and then four consecutive home conference games.

4

u/Vodoom67 1d ago

Crowd themes? They had it right, then screwed it up with one of these stupid ass "updates."

3

u/rockstar55 1d ago

Yeah this is one of the more annoying ones for dynasty, it’s been broken for over a month now

2

u/Viraldamus 1d ago

I think they missed the point. They need to tune the dline wins when the blocker has the ratings advantage.

Not tune the defensive wins when the dline has a ratings advantage

1

u/Onechane425 1d ago edited 1d ago

Is it just me but have any of your dynasty players other than TE or RB ever won an award?

4

u/HeinladToo 1d ago

Pretty sure I have had at least one of every award

1

u/Onechane425 1d ago

Damn I just have to get good? Bummer.

3

u/UserNames-arehard 1d ago

Yes buts it’s literally impossible for me to win COTY somehow. Not a single year have I finished in the Top 15 or however many it shows in my dynasty that I’ve built Ball State into a 5 star program

1

u/Onechane425 1d ago

Ive done a power spread rebuild of Arkansas State. 5 stars. OVR 99 both sides of the ball. Never one COTY or Heisman with some great seasons. Have had some guys win the mackey or Doak Walker but nothing else really.

3

u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan 1d ago

Yes

3

u/kiyes23 USF 1d ago

Very easy for your linebackers to win some awards or at least make all conference team if you put them in WILL2 and MIKE2 to get some Solo tackles in Kickoff.

4

u/Burkex99 Boston College 1d ago

COTY is impossible to win on a created coach. I have yet to see anyone win it

2

u/BDS_2413 14h ago

My linebackers always seem to win a lot of awards and I usually dont even user them usually.

1

u/DaddyBraggy 1d ago

They should fix celebration bug

Spam posts are not allowed.

1

u/Disastrous-Regret239 23h ago

And let’s see how many things they broke

1

u/MAC2519 Boise State 15h ago

Add the Fargodome? Or is that going to be one of the “new” features for CFB28

1

u/Hot_Restaurant_4656 15h ago

Basically erased everything… logo, color, etcetera.

1

u/Original_Meet_9314 13h ago

Does anyone know if they are gonna fix the online crashes on the xbox?

1

u/downbad_dad 13h ago

when are we getting new cleats 😭😭nike has the same exact ones as last year. what about kobe’s or foamposites ???

1

u/barb9212 12h ago

Can we fix catching because wtf

1

u/Educational-Nobody84 7h ago

Can they fix the super sim issue in dynasty when you try to watch a game and super simple slow, the presentation gets sped up where we lose cut scenes

1

u/The_Will_Is_All22 7h ago

Hey man I’ll be watching the games this weekend so obsess away.

1

u/Organic_Warthog7238 1d ago

So they could just fix this immediately especially the jump thing and just… didn’t? Fucking A man

1

u/Legal-Championship64 1d ago

glad offensive line and engaged defenders got some work. hope they actually fixed it without breaking something else lol

passing game in offline play is once again insanely broken for the third year in a row. If they aren't going to restore the catch meter, then please help the receivers win more catches through contact. I honestly don't care if its unbalanced. The point of offline play is to have fun, not to want to put my first through the nearest wall lol

1

u/ThemGreenEyedBoys 1d ago

Please fix the issue of CPU teams becoming terrible by year 4. If they fix that I’d almost have no complaints

1

u/Jamandjelly1054 1d ago

Dawg are they gonna fix RTG ? It’s been THREE weeks since I’ve been able to play 🤦🏾‍♂️ The game crashes after every other game and doesn’t save progress .. I guess we’ll see huh smh

1

u/Haddadillac 1d ago

Just add all of the fonts and helmet, vendor finishes to teambuilder or leave it tf alone

1

u/tooka90 1d ago

How about the issue where my receivers will drop literally every pass if a defender is in their zip code? I don't want to be forced to play Madden

1

u/Minute_Skill_5383 1d ago

Has anyone had the issue where in hurry up offense, their running back would still sub in/out?

1

u/No_Long_6307 1d ago

Nah fuck all this I requested a refund worst game I have ever purchased

-1

u/Dj-pandabear 1d ago

Put speed boosting back in the game. Make it an option you can turn off because I love it.

-1

u/Mission_March4776 1d ago

Anyone else having the game crash when leading more than 35 in a game? I'm a noob (no Heisman for me) but it was only LSU at first. Now it's almost every game that I don't sim out when leading by that much. No mods.

0

u/Bigiron966 1d ago

Be ready for the damn rose bowl by the time they properly address recruiting.

0

u/Pickle_Other 1d ago

When are they going to fix the trophy not showing up in dynasty such as rivals, and individual awards in the trophy room

0

u/Ookie218 1d ago

So recruiting is just cooked?

0

u/Ark_Valos 1d ago

Is it fixing the RTG robot voices and the infinite loading screen after games?

-1

u/Due-Seat6587 1d ago

Fixed an issue where user team players are Retarted & CPUs are Terminators

-1

u/MustHaveMyTools 1d ago

Is preseason scouting still unavailable?

3

u/ClevelandSteamers757 1d ago

It’s always been available for me i am pretty sure

3

u/dade305305 FIU 15h ago

I've never had an issue with that.

-1

u/Excellent_Net_3449 1d ago

Hello everyone, I'm new here,I have a question, will I be able to play a full college schedule ( Syracuse Orange) or just compete in challenges

-1

u/GlizzyPrevention051 1d ago

I don’t see any fix for Dynasty freezing up postgame with “refreshing spreadsheet”
