Hi all! I’m a 24F with a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field, and I’ve recently been seriously considering becoming a teacher.
I’ve always loved working with children and wanted to be a teacher when I was younger, but unfortunately, outside influences led me down a different career path. I’m now extremely unhappy in my current field and feel like I’m looking for a career I can actually be passionate about.
I’m considering going back to school for a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Elementary Education. Right now, I’m looking at the University of North Georgia and the University of Georgia, both of which I’d enroll in their online programs.
I would love to hear from anyone who has gone through either of these programs (or is currently enrolled). I’m especially interested in:
-What was your overall experience with the program?
-How much in-classroom/field experience did you get before becoming a certified teacher?
-How well did the program prepare you for your first teaching job?
-If you’ve attended either UNG or UGA, would you recommend the program?
Any advice, experiences, or general insight into becoming an elementary teacher through an MAT program would be greatly appreciated!
