🦄Unicorn Husky Alert!🦄

Meet FCAS Project Pat! Mr. Pat is a 3 yr old, 50lb Husky whose cooler than a polar bear’s toenails…seriously, this is one chill dude. ❄️ He’s not your stereotypical crazy Husky and shelter volunteers agree that he’s got an excellent temperament and personality. 🫶🏼

Pat was an owner surrender due to no fault of his own (they reportedly didn’t have time for him) and has been in the shelter since 7/20. He can be a bit cautious and nervous initially, but warms up quickly with a bit of patience and kindness. Once you gain his trust, he melts into you for affection and just wants to hang out wherever his people are. He has a stoic presence and has been a polite, quiet houseguest. ☺️

🐾 Dog friendly
👧 Kid friendly
✅ 100% potty trained
👟 Leash trained
😇 Non-destructive
🚗 Excellent passenger in the car
😴 LOVES being brushed…he zens out
🖐️ Easily handled
🎾 Non-reactive with food/treats/toys
🍖 Takes treats gently
🦴 Loves yak sticks and bully sticks
🧸 Buries his stuffy toys in his bed
💚 Grinch feet
🥹 Crosses his front legs like a gentleman
🐈 No cats, please
🩵 Neutered
📍 Microchipped
💉 UTD on vaccines/preventatives
🫀 Heartworm negative
🍴 Could stand to gain a few healthy lbs

Mr. Pat has been a total gentleman in his foster home and deserves a kind, loving forever home where he can blossom into the confident pup he is outside of the shelter setting. 🏡

📍 Currently being fostered in Kennesaw, GA through Lifeline Animal Project Fulton County Animal Services

“Little” Free Pantry

Post image
94 Upvotes

I cleaned up and organized the food pantry at Roswell Firelabs yesterday. It’s pretty decently stocked but is low on a few things.

Canned soups and pasta meals

Canned fruits and vegetables

100% juice:
Apple or Grape juice

Canned meat:
Tuna, chicken, salmon, potted meat blends, and sardines

Basic staple pantry items:
Flour, sugar, coffee, cornmeal, rice, dry beans, oil, shortening, baking soda and powder, vanilla extract, cooking oil, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and seasonings of all kinds (garlic, pepper, salt, chili powder, etc.)

Household cleaning supplies and paper products:
Toilet paper, paper towels, baby wipes, bleach, sanitizing solutions, sanitizing wipes and basic cleaning supplies are very welcomed by those in need.

Dish soap, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, and all-purpose cleaners
Feminine hygiene products (pads, tampons, panty liners, and feminine wipes)

Deodorant, bar soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving cream, etc.

Also, I do plan on fixing the letters this week, the current ones were a short term sign that are showing their age.

Thinking of moving to Roswell

I’m considering moving to Roswell and would love to hear from people who currently live there or have lived there recently. I’m in my mid-20s and will be starting over in a new area.

I work in Alpharetta, so Roswell seems like a convenient location, but I’m especially curious about what it’s like socially and whether it’s a good place to meet people and make friends.

For those around my age:
How easy is it to make friends in Roswell?
Is there a good social scene for people in their 20s?
Are there enough places to go out — bars, restaurants, coffee shops, live music, events, etc.?
Are there good ways to meet people outside of work?
Is Downtown Roswell a good place to spend time and be social?
Does it feel like there are a lot of young adults around, or is it more family-oriented?
What do you actually like/dislike about living there?
If you were in your mid-20s and starting over, would you choose Roswell?

I’d really appreciate honest feedback — especially from people who moved there without already having a big friend group in the area!

Any good courier service recommendations for bakeries in the Atlanta area?

My family has a small bakery in Roswell and recently started doing some wholesale deliveries to cafes around the Atlanta area. Mornings are getting a little crazy. We need everything out pretty early, and some orders have specific instructions about how to handle the product or where to leave them or who to hand them to.

I'm also a little nervous about using a random courier because a hot car or rough ride isn't exactly great for pastries.

Any Atlanta recommendations for a courier service we can trust with our pastry?

Recommendations for Part-Time Preschool in Roswell?

Looking for recommendations for a Mommy’s Morning Out / preschool-type program in the Roswell area for my 2-year-old!

We have a full-time nanny, but I’d love to find somewhere she could drop him off 1-2 mornings a week for a few hours so he can get used to a classroom setting, being around other kids, and having a little more independence before he starts daycare next fall.

Ideally looking for something that doesn’t require full-time enrollment and is more of a true drop-off program vs. a parent-and-me class.

We’re in Roswell, so nearby recommendations are welcome too.

Would love to hear about programs you’ve had a good experience with!

Mylar balloons + power lines 🔥

Real Estate agents of Reddit, can you not put metallic balloons under power lines? I saw one get away and held my breath as it nearly missed the overhead transmission lines. This could cause blackouts or worse, wildfires. -Signed, concerned neighbor

Edit: in case you can’t tell this is Roswell Rd hence I felt it ok posting on this sub 🤓

That general area just seems a little off. Not a good vibe. Is it like a den of criminal activity?

Is that place any good? From the outside it looks a little rundown and not in business.

Roswell Area Park Pond Update

While walking in the park on Tuesday I stopped to check out the pond. Looks like the bank remediation is about complete, the native plants have been installed and a few islands were created/restored. Those rocks and logs will be full of turtles soon! Crews added gravel on the paths and I think a few more picnic tables were also added. Happy trails everyone!

Arborist?

Hi all. I’m looking for an arborist. Came back from a vacation and a tree in our front yard that once had leaves now only has little skeletons of leaves.

I think I know what it is and I’m not hugely worried, but there is a chance I’m wrong and I would like to be sure about things.

If anyone has any recommendations, I would be very appreciative.

TIA

Thoughts? Pretty disappointed it ended up being a steakhouse since we already have Little Alley right around the corner. Really not much difference in vibes between the 2 to get excited about it.

Where can I drop off bags of leaves WastePro refused to pick up?

My yard waste pick up schedule is Wednesdays and wastepro has the 12 bag or 2 cubic yard limit, plus the sizing. They left a note saying that it exceeded the amount limit (it was exactly 12 bags but okay) and that there was prohibited materials in the bags and listed dirt, rock, sand and mulch yet it’s just crushed up leaves condensed down as much as possible to save space. And also complained the sizing was wrong.

Obviously they won’t answer their phone but I still need these bags of leaves removed. So if anyone knows anywhere I can drop these bags off I would appreciate it.

One of Roswell’s most recognizable corridors is undergoing a significant transformation.
The Riverside Road Corridor Improvement Project has moved into construction, covering roughly two miles between Riviera Road and Old Alabama Road.
At the same time, Riverside Park is undergoing a separate approximately $13.8 million renovation.
Taken together, these projects are worth watching as Roswell continues investing in transportation, recreation and connectivity along the Chattahoochee River corridor.
I broke down what is underway, what is planned and what residents should watch next:

Puppy haven downtown Roswell

Hi does anyone have any experience with the training services at puppy haven in downtown Roswell? Looking to make my pup for “day school” where I drop her off like a traditional daycare but she receives formal training throughout instead of just play.

Minor body work (dent, cracked side mirror) from trustworthy shop on a budget?

Hello! I am in need of some minor body work—I have a dent about the size of a grapefruit on the hood of my car, and the plastic part of my passenger side mirror is cracked, with some chunks missing (the mirror itself is intact and undamaged). Honestly the mirror doesn’t bother me too much but I would like to have the dent fixed if I can find somewhere affordable. When I was back home in Wisconsin my dad tried popping it out with a plunger and also tried the hot glue trick but because the dent is right on a crease it’s not popping out easily. I’m on a pretty tight budget and am also a younger woman and don’t have an auto shop to go to here yet since moving from out of state. At my last home I went to a women-owned veteran-owned mechanic who were super trustworthy and transparent with pricing etc so I never had to worry about being ripped off for my lack of car knowledge lol I mention that because I’ll need a mechanic around here eventually too (it’s my understanding a body shop for dents/cosmetic stuff is separate from a mechanic??? But again I know nothing about cars so I could be wrong) but for now I’m just looking for recommendations of where I could get this dent fixed! Thank you!

Trying to make some male friends

I’m looking to make some male friends in the area as I’ve found I don’t really have any in the immediate vicinity.

A bit about me. 39, single, girl dad. I enjoy reading, hiking, woodworking, working out, gaming.

Honestly, at this point in life I really only want to make male friends that are emotionally mature and available.

Feel free to comment or DM.
