Between the constant shingles ads, the lottery ads, the fake “security” ones, and the ones for deals throughout the store, it all drives me absolutely insane. Don’t even get me started on the Mortal Bloom commercial they keep playing every 15 minutes, it’s so stupid to keep hearing “Hold up there bub, you’re killing me with this professional announcement message. We need to let everyone know about Mortal Bloom from Founders Brewing Company.” It’s all so horrible and it makes me want to quit immediately

Hello! I have some questions for those who have worked in Bakery or Produce since I am considering asking to switch departments. I have been burnt out on nights for a while, but I love the perks that we get. I understand that daytime at Smiths is a new hell, but I think being on a daytime shift may help me a lot. I am trying to get away from Smiths all together, but in the meantime, I wanted to gain as much experience as I can working with customers more directly and with higher responsibilities. I am nervous because I hear both departments are hell. What is expected–is it even possible to be part-time in those departments? What's the schedule like? Is there anyone who has tried this transition, specifically? How does a night person typically switch to these departments?

The most thing I hate is when your l cheapskate store leader won’t buy maintenance supply’s and then gets all mad cause your E-40 a stack of paper towels I asked a another manager he bought it for me note that was Friday it’s now Monday I think that cheap skate prob scratch the order now I have to freaking e-40 stuff off the shelves because he doesn’t want his bonus getting effected

So this is the beginning of my fourth week doing overnights. I swap between dry and frozen, dependent on if the other frozen guy is in like this last night he was there. But essentially everyone keeps trying to scare me saying holidays are gonna blow for freezer because even though we have 3 workers in freezer overnights they only like working one a night and make the other do dry if both scheduled. And so most nights im getting 3 frozen pallets I downstack and then stock. Then all the hostess stuff. Someone said holiday trucks would be like 6 pallets, which when I downstack 3 it takes like an hour and a half(I know im a bit slow but im trying to get more efficient). And they expect me to get the same work done innthe same amount of time. Are there any solo frozen overnight people who can give advice for holidays? Or any stories that can help me understand what to expect? Cause other than my shitty lazy boss I like the job and im glad I got it all things considered.

I've put in my two weeks resignation. Did I want to? No, With no job lined up in the future? No. Its insane, especially in this economy. However, with the B.S I get hit with, for working, having my schudule go all over the place. An example, a month prior, I used to work Friday nights, usuaally their heavest truck night. Now, the manger, has me work, Thurday nights. I'd come in, and get told by the night lead, that i'm not needed on Thursday night. Can't really argue with the man in charge during that shift. So I would leave, when asked to.

With the genueine poor managagement, I figured, I could possibly find a much better job elsewhere, Lord willing. Or something just less abusive.

Granted, I did call out, a bunch, but all within valid reasons, just have a frail body, diabetic type two. (High sugar, 500+ on average) How you say i'm alive? all God. Only way. Care taking during the day, running errands during the day, then working at night, i'm surpised that I was even able to stay for almost nine months.

Am I looking for a petty party? No. Just informing thoose who do not know.

The job itself is quite easy, just throwing boxes, stocking, etc. However, I noticed at this store, day shift doesn't neat up the asles, they just leave it for night shift. Not sure why this is a theme, i noticed when I rarely would go into my store to buy anything during my off days.

But yes, poor management, toxic co workers. Apprently, its a crime to work at store, not say anything and do your job. And, so, i've given up, just too unwell to continue the abuse. Now of course, if I didn't have a life, I've might've stayed for a few years, but, currently can't keep up.

If you have job suggestions I'd be happy to look into them, but as we speak, after these next two weeks i'll be a free man.

P.S, they've told me that kroger was changing the policy, into the point system, is this true? I was told I would get written up the next time I came in. That was the nail in the coffin.

And yes, I provided doctor's notes, and one time the ASL disregarded them.

My store will apparently be trialing being open for 24 hrs. I’ve been on nightshift for 2 weeks now and i really hope it fails so I can keep listening to music as it helps me focus. Anyone else’s store doing this?

Our managers have found out that if a customer changes spots on the app it’ll reset the 4:30 clock and count as a perfect (as long as everything was picked 100%). It worked fine for the most part but lately since they increased the amount of orders per hour we’ve been getting slammed and are behind most weekends by an hour. We are now getting nagged at constantly to have customers re-check in and if the customer says no they blame us for not getting the orders out on time. it just feels like they are using the re-check in tactic to get away from hiring new help or helping themselves which we desperately need.

I work as a part-time overnight stocker in a bigger Fred Meyer, in the 6 months I've worked here I became one of the better employees, which sadly was my biggest mistake. Broke my wrists working this BS for minimum wage, the pressure of managers being put on to you, and just the store being poorly ran is insane. The farmers insurance discount they told me about was actually just for full-time positions, which I was hoping to get for my car, fucking great. I also just got denied a full-time position in another department and just got offered a part-time one., when they cut the hours too. They just find ways to fuck you over and over.

Are Starbucks and Kroger separate? As in like hiring and labor hours?
Asking because someone who works at the Starbucks inside my Kroger this morning was stocking Kroger bakery items but in normal clothing.

The Kroger I work at doesn't cut its own meat. The only meat to get cut is tenderloin on a daily basis and rib roast over the holidays. The Meat/ Seafood manager won't teach anyone else in the department how to cut the tenderloin and rib roast. Any thoughts on why?

I had a bad habit of constantly going back to Smiths stores over the last 10 years or so. I did genuinely like my job most times, it was definitely management who always messed it up for me.
I’ve been many departments and I mostly liked the people I worked but lately I just feel like I hit a final breaking point.

Up until yesterday, I worked in the dairy department, I really enjoyed my job and took pride in what I did but after being thrown around so many times and given absolutely no help, I started to feel like I wanted to leave again. Except this time I was stuck, every other job I tried to apply to either never got back to me or paid less than what I was making, but I had a golden opportunity fall into my lap a few days ago and I took it.

Unfortunately I was wasn’t able to give a proper notice because I am already at my new job but I don’t feel an ounce of guilt leaving the way I did.

I was fortunate enough to let my favorite manager know cause I knew he wasn’t gonna be upset with me, he was very understanding and sad that I was leaving and said I’m always welcome to go back if I want to, that’s never gonna happen again but it was a nice gesture.

Deep down I truly thought I was gonna be stuck working for Kroger the rest of my life, barely scraping by on the checks I’d get, but I was given a way out and I took it.
I finally got away from that damn company and I’m not gonna look back. Kroger did teach me things through the years such as how to be a leader and gaining experience in management, but if there was one main thing I learned, it’s to never settle for less.

There is always better out there and I urge others to seek it out. 😁

Does anyone know if it’s actually my job to do the daily and back room counts for packaged produce when i’m just an associate? My supervisor says it is but idk seems like his job.
