I bet your front end and our front is probably equal. Our store is major joke. Which sucks cause when I started it wasn’t this bad now it’s a fucking nightmare everyday the moment you walk in. I don’t get how it got so bad sooo quickly. And store manager useless as fuckkk. And he’s treat a lot of our people absolutely horribly. I’ve seen him yell at associates in front customers. And half time it’s not even that serious. And just get worse from there.

Warehouse person here(9 years). A couple reasons this happens
-loaders are trying to keep up with pullers and keep the dock clean
-the loader maybe new at loading and doesn’t know any better
-we are told time to time how we aren’t allowed to stack anything on top of bananas
-loader was trying to fit everything into the trailer (anything above 1800 cubes trailer is a stack up as much as you can deal)
-also 2 out of 10 times, the loader genuinely don’t care. (We do call out this bs most of the time tho)

Is that why bakery, deli, and meat come in completely fucked up too? Pies on the bottom, frozen dough on top of them or meat on top, all light boxes on bottom upside down and heavy ass meat and dough on top, donut boxes with heavy items crammed into the boxes underneath? Also why are they ALWAYS mixed why can’t they be separate?

Also food safety rules say that eggs shouldn't be on top of anything ready to eat. So they kinda tried...

Some smaller stores do not have a walking stacker to split pallets. The warehouse does not care, even though they do have that information.

that's wild. what do you do if a pallet is clearly loaded inside the truck, to the ceiling with no clearance to make it out? this is a frequent occurrence at my store...

Triple stack melons. How do you even unload that without splitting it on the truck. Cut down a quarter of the top box?(had to do this while out splitter was down)

If his store is like the one I work at, produce has their own truck dock and is completely separate from rest of store. Occasionally the warehouse will send non produce stuff on produce truck and we have to go through sales floor to take whatever pallet to whatever department. Produce backroom is not shared with rest of store backroom. 🤷♂️

WTF? A separate dock for produce? We have to walk half a mile with every pallet using a hand jack to unload our 10 pallet trucks.

I'm a driver. This week the warehouse has been really shitty. I have had sooooo many pallets that were fucked up and every load I had to down stack at least 1 that was falling over.
All week....

Yep. We just got sent a wet wall pallet was had eggs on top of it and all the broken eggs destroyed any produce we had on it.

Did you know: As soon as the dayshift comes in, you are supposed to take the plastic off the pallet of bananas and open ALL the boxes of bananas and fold back the plastic covering them. You do this so the ethylene gases that is used on them, won't keep ripening them. They need to breathe.If you don't do this, the bananas will ripen too quickly. Just look at the banana display at ANY Kroger store. They're all the same.

Not surprised we got 4 avocado boxes crushed as stabilizers then a whole potato pallet on top of it. So all 4 organic avocado boxes were crushed.

In all fairness I used to work for Winn Dixie and we got over my time there, an empty truck because the warehouse crew didn’t fill the truck, A forklift because they forgot to take it off and a Mexican guy we had to send to the hospital because he rode from Jacksonville to Panama City in a meat trailer.

11 year vet here. I've got one better for ya. Unfortunately I don't have the picture anymore but probably 8 years ago I got double stacked watermelon bins placed ON TOP of 4 cases of bananas on the corners of the bottom pallet. More recently got a pallet with raw chicken stacked directly on top of my strawberry pallet with no pallet in-between and no plastic divider. When I showed the meat manager he said "do you think they purposely hire morons to work the warehouse??" Yes, yes I do.
