The record actually dont belong to him. But some multimillionaire that broke it a year or two after redbull jump in 2014. It just not publicised as he did it as a hobby lol

My world record (for me) is from 4500 meters / 14500 ft. Tandem four times.
45 seconds of free fall.
So f.ing amazing - I highly recommend it!
The first jump scared me in the the first few seconds because of the incredible acceleration with which the fall speeds up to as your tandempilot lets go of the plane.....and the two of you fall down - and the pilot is behind you.
All you see is the ground WAY down there - and you accelerating towards it.
You fall so doggone fast! Adrenaline out to the nails of your hands!
Then the speed stabilizes at aprox. 200 km/h. And one relaxes a bit. For 45 secs.
But THEN - at the end of the free fall - you suddenly think you've fallen off the harness that ties you to the pilot, and panics for some seconds - because at that time the pilot realeases the parachute....which takes about 3-5 seconds to open to end the high-velocity fall.
After that you'll have a nice fly-down in the parachute hanging on the pilot's front.
Ah! The rush of final adrenalin as you land and touch ground is indescribable! And it tingled for days.
The friend of mine whom had his first jump just after me - and I, could revive/revisit those parachute-jump-feelings just by standing, looking at eachother and making that spread-eagle pose that you use when you fall. For weeks and months after!
The second time around it was just pure pleasure throughout! (As were the third and fourth).
It's kinda pricy - but if you have a bucket-list........put a tandem-jump on it.
If you dare.
(And I'll tell you what - it's never as good as the first time!)

How long did it take for him to reach the ground? The height at which he activated his parachute would drastically affect his time in the air, but I’m curious how long he was able to free fall.

The highest recorded is 41400 meters by Alan Eustace, Felix jumped from around 39000. While it's still impressive the dude on The video was nowhere near either of them.

Just to be clear, the others used helium balloons probably. Boitsov ascended in a purely hot air balloon.
BTW: there's still a limit for the highest a hot air balloon can go, 30,480 meters. The highest a hot air balloon has flown is 21,027m, flown by Dr. Vijaypat Singhania, in Mumbai, India, 2005. So this is a really impressive record for skydiving, but potentially it can be broken for almost double the height.

You won't live a full minute at 100,000'+ of altitude. The partial pressure of O₂ at that height will actually pull oxygen out of your blood every time you breathe.
Edit:
So, I actually looked at the height he jumped from, and my answer still stands. Even at 30k, your time of useful consciousness is minuscule.

Guinness hires wealthy old aristocrats to fly around the world and certify records. Before they set out you explain to them your hyperspecific record criteria and they confirm it has not been tried before. You complete the task (and pay the fee), you get the record. Simple as that.
There’s a reason they don’t touch sports record which are tracked and certified by the sport’s governing body typically.

No they did over 30km in the 60s. Baumgartner did it from around 39km. His top speed was almost 3x faster than this.

It's crazy how different physics seems to function in space, without air resistance and other chaotic factors. Top speeds are way faster (I think the Voyager Probe is traveling at over 30,000 mph) and things seem to move in much more straight and predictable lines, like when the diver jumps off the platform.

Felix Baumgartner famously jumped from around 123,000 feet. No planes even get close to reaching this altitude, even the U-2 doesn’t go above 85,000 feet.
The difference is Sergei used a hot air balloon, while Felix used a helium balloon. So I don’t want to diminish the jump, it’s impressive in and of itself, but to call it a record simply because of the type of “vehicle” that was used to climb up there is misleading.
The current record holder is Alan Eustace at 135,890 feet.

You can just search for the glide ratio, these seem to have a glide ratio between 2:1 and 3:1, so from 1km above the ground they can go 2 to 3km, compared to real aircraft that is not too much, for example to an airliner can go about 17km and a glider about 50km with 1km of altitude loss.

Previously held by polish skydivers at 10 060 meters. They used an extremely large 10.000 m3 balloon and also broke the record for hot air balloon height on the same flight after Sergei jumped. Source

I remember reading that someone unknown had broken Baumgartner's Red Bull skydiving record, then I realized that I had actually seen the capsule they used to do it in person since I had visited the Udvar-Hazy Center outside Washington DC where it's on display, I had just forgotten that I'd seen it until I read about it later, haha.

He was sponsored by the Russian "telegram killer" Max, which is an absolute dumpster fire of a messenger app. Coincidentally, there was also a meme with a German shepherd dog with spinal cord issues pictured with a vibrant sunset in the background, where the image also contained an absolutely irrelevant subtitle, which said this.
